Please keep us updated on the outcome. I'd think this vet should be liable if the x-rays come back normal. Not only for the monetary loss for the owner, but for the trauma caused to them & yourself! I'm just absolutely disgusted. Can the owner give you permission to discuss the diagnosis with their vet? How far are you from them, if the vet wont scan wondering if it's possible to view them in person. Just so sorry about the whole situation. =(

I'm so very sorry to read that your puppy was PTS, devastating. It's for this very reason, I now make sure I drill this into any potential new owner. I give them various situations or diagnosis that could crop up at a vet (you know the ones, see a large breed & put the fear of god into an owner regarding HD)& ask the potential owner "What would you do if...?" Having had a pup I bred undergo an unnecessary GA at 16 weeks old because "Being a Shepherd it most likely has Hip Dysplasia!", by a vet in the ACT, i make sure all owners are now well versed in veterinary scare tactics & I will not hesitate to contact any vet direct that directs another one of my owners to have this done!

My vote is for amputation.

Colour / Pattern / Markings - Importance?
EISHUND replied to Aziah's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yes, it seems that everyone that enquires about one of my pups wants a WHITE one! In all seriousness though, we've had many enquiries where the buyer only wants a specific coat length. I personally would have liked a long coat girl, but I only have long coat boys in this litter, and the person taking pick boy would have preferred long as well, however the pick so far is a short coat. For us, coat length is of no relevance in our puppy selection, it would have just been a bonus :D -
I try to take the opportunity to educate people when I get these types of enquiries, however, if I'm having a bad day, or have had a recent influx of 'red flag' puppy enquiries, I have been known to reply in the same manner as the OP ;)

Can Imported Dogs To Oz Be Quarantined In Nz?
EISHUND replied to heroeswit's topic in General Dog Discussion
Dwilds, if your breeder is having an issue, they are more than welcome to speak to me or other ANKC breeders in Aus ( like Saffioraire or Whyteridge) that have also imported the breed into the country, and our breeders in Europe! It might put their mind at ease & realise that it's not that bad. As long as your breeder has given the pup adequate exposure & socialisation in the months leading up to it leaving the country (as yours would be coming from a Cat 4), you'll end up with a well adjusted dog coming out the other end of quarantine. It's not a frightful place, our two puppies did exceptionally well in quarantine, ask Fan & Arawyn, they were there when Inga & Thor were released. The staff were great too & took excellent care of them. :D -
LOL, I x-rayed our girl, and she whelped the next day! Little brat! ahaha But I recommend a week out, I x-rayed on the Wednesday night, she was due Sunday, but whelped on Thursday.

I never came across any rude officials at all, there was a couple that had to really push the point that the exhibitor needed to be ready NOW, but it was only necessary. The breakng in the middle of the breed comes down to a they have a schedule to stick to as to when lunch is, so they have to stick to it. The crowds well that cant be controlled but can be viewed upon by saying take it as a positive, that the general Joe Public is nterested in purebreds not cross bred "oodles" or similar. Lots of people have had their BOB photos taken? I entered Ekka but didn't show as my Puppy bitch has just come out of season, so I've had a couple of relaxing days just observing from the grandstands I have been really surprised by the poor entries in some breeds though. Hi Miss B On Havanese day I asked about getting BOB photos but the photographer didn't seem in a good mood and he said he was going home early and had run out of battery power anyway. He also spent AGES on each dog, so I would not have got in anyway (up to 20 mins per dog). I know he did quite a few private sittings though, and his signs clearly state that he is available for private sittings during the EKKA. Maybe the photographers need to be asked to prioritise BOB photos over private sittings? WHY? The photographer is there as basically a favour to exhibitors. He doesnt get paid by the RNA or DQ to be there. He has to take time off of his paid job to be at the ekka for all 10 days and this year parking will cost him $250. So basically any photos he takes that he can sell is what s going to cover costs for him. Who was the photographer? I must say, hands down winner of Royal Photographers is the 2011 Sydney Royal photographer, Ffiona Erskine of FFIRE Photography. This person is there because they WANT to be there, to capture all of those special moments, and most importantly, get BOB photos!

British Bulldog Breeders In Australia
EISHUND replied to ellen_Tas's topic in General Dog Discussion
Paseya kennels in TAS, Embolden in NSW & Bratrice in NSW are 3 registered breeders I know :D .... BUT, they wouldn't breed for what you are after as it is undesired. From the breed standard: The nose should be large, broad and black, and under no circumstances should it be liver coloured or brown -
I had a girl who used to whelp religiously day 58, so I think taking your girl off regumate at day 59 shouldn't be too much of an issue.

I have an online form that I require people to fill out when enquiring for a puppy. It just gives me a rough idea on things, and I can then contact them for more in depth information. I also print them out & keep on file as a point of reference. I've added more questions over time as I think of them so it's still a work in progress. Here is the link, feel free to check it out. :D Eishund Puppy Enquiry Form

That darn volcano! But, it did give me extra puppy time. :D

Also thought i'd share this photo of Inga being a good girl getting her ultrasound. And before anyone asks me, no, I haven't dyed my hair & put on weight, I'm the one taking the photo so you can't see me!

Sure is very exciting, I just can't wait, considering what I've had to go through to get to this point, but it's all been worth it. Yes, there have been 3 very small litters registered already by the first person that imported the breed into Australia & that is all so far. Good luck with the x-ray MM, we'll be doing the same thing a week out. Nice to know numbers, and I'm pretty sure our girl has more than 6 hiding in there. ;) Attached is one of Inga's ultrasound shots showing 5 puppies on the screen!

Long time no post! Very excited to say that in late August, we are expecting our first litter of ANKC registered White Swiss Shepherd Dogs. The litter will be rego'd under our joint prefix "Andesyn". Ultrasound late Wednesday showed 'at least six' puppies, so everyone for us that all goes smoothly without any hiccups. Oh, and prayers that she bakes me a lovely little girl for the showring!

T & G All Breeds Show ~ Saturday 5/2/2011
EISHUND replied to Havasneeze's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thanks for posting up, not looking forward to today's weather, atleast the dogs will dry quick though! LOL -
Not sure how experienced your male is with multiple bitches, but I've had one male who fell in love with the first bitch he served and wouldn't serve the other. A little tip, wipe the vulva of the 1st bitch, and then spread her 'smell' around the base of the tail & back of the legs of the 2nd one. Works a treat if you come across this little issue
-
Best advice EVER :D I agree!

2 months ago my partner & I were given an 11 month old bitch (now 13mo) on breeders terms. We did not pay for her, in return the breeder will take her back for a litter and we are more than happy with that arrangement. It honestly comes down to trust. We have no contract other than the spoken word & our girl is in our name, so we'll sign her back over when the time comes, but the breeder & I have a long standing friendship so we know it wont go pear shaped. In saying that, I've seen the best friendships sour when it comes to money, so tread with caution & only enter into agreements with people you can truly trust.

Are talking, rear, front or both? Our breed removes rear, but not front. I have a little xbreed who is always injuring his front ones, I can see why small breeds remove them.
