  1. Ralphy had never had a bath up until a week ago when both boys were hydrobathed to help shed their undercoats. Was wonderful and I will definately do it again next season. otherwise they are not smelly dogs and swim enough to keep them clean and fresh, not to mention sleeping in the rain
  2. Thanks everyone. I will perhaps add some to their dinner as well. At the moment its in their drinking esky, and their swimming pool...and its the health food store top stuff. Maybe they are spending more time swimming in said esky and pool than drinking it...LOL
  3. Goo dpoint Ellz, i knew I could count on you!!
  4. Hi everyone, I am using ACV in my boofas water bowls to try and eliminate urine burn on the grass. It used to work really well, almost perfectly....but alas, no more. I havent changed anything? I wonder why its no longer working?? Any other suggestions would be fantastic, as the lawn is suffering now.
  5. I can strongly say YES to this question. When we switched Ralphy from BARF onto Supercoat, he definately smelt. I can only equate the smell to that of mice. pppeeeew
  6. Today my neighbours had to go through the heartbreaking ordeal of having their 12 year old husky pts. I drove her and her 3 children to the vets and looked after the kids whilst she was pts. The vets were absolutely lovely and let Mia stay in the car and pass away quietly instead of in the vet clinic. We bought her home and they buried her in a lovely part of the garden. She was such an elegant lady and bought her family 12 years of joy and happiness. RIP Mia.
  7. I didn't even get passed the 3rd line... too much reading for this little chicky.
  8. I printed off my order form and faxed it through...but I payed using their direct account deposit system. I just popped the money into their account. Twas easy.
  9. I should really add that Ralphy used to get all this stuff before we switched to the dry food which gave him health probs....i just never juiced the veggies or made patties as such.
  10. Thanks everyone....the boys also get chicken wings and meaty bones throughout the day/week. Ralphy isnt getting beef bones just yet, I am only re-introducing chicken n veggies back into his diet and watching for any skin flareups.
  11. There was a LOT of vegie mix, i have been able to freeze enough to mix into another 3 kilos of mince....with a ratio of about 60% mince 40% veggies (still working on that side of things). I only added one teaspoon of livamol and a cap full of apple cider vinegar into all that vegie mix. Appreciate suggestions n comments.
  12. OK scuze my blondeness....it's taken me a few months to work up to asking this question...but what is offal??
  13. Thanks It was a little sloppy, but i simply placed them into alluminium foil. Have 3 containers full of vegies to freeze as well. 1 container for each kilo of mince.
  14. I have just mooshed a huge ammount of veggies and pulp....and i will add the proportion i need to the 2kilos of chicken mince. I will just feeze the remaining vegie mix for the next batch. Also added broccoli. Oh sweet potato and pumpkin!! I knew i forgot something at the shop. I can mix it all up and change it round as I go.
  15. OK i have bought the breville juicer reccomended on here and am armed and ready to BARF' it. My patties will consist of, for now... chicken mince rice carrot apple celery spinnach apple cider vinegar and livamol. I am going to mix it all into patties about the size of my palm, so a handful of mix i guess. They will get one each for dinner. Would this be enough if they are getting one cup of premium dry a morning? Note: they both have 5 kilos to loose.
  16. Thanks Holly. I am keeping an avid watch for any flareups. Appreciate you sharing your advise and opinion.
  17. I know!! Just like giving a toddler red cordial!!
  18. Well, today was the first day of me being daring and going back to what i know. For breckie this morning i mixed half a cup of the Hills z/d low allergen he was on with the Hills Sensitive (chicken based) that i bought yesterday....and tonight he and Charlie will be having chicken carcasses. I will be doing a massive vegie shop this weekend and will invest in a blender or mixer, to make up BARF patties to store in the freezer. I read somewhere that you can give the patties frozen as a challenge? Is this true?
  19. Thanks for the opinions everyone. I have decided that i will re-introduce raw chicken bones first...that way i can feed ralphy n Charlie the same meals. They will have 1 cup of Hills for sensitive skin (chicken based) in the morning, 1 cup for training treats and Kongs etc...and for dinner chicken carcasses/wings etc. Any more suggestions will be greatly appreciated. ETA: I also bought Livamol to add to their meals.
  20. The vet said swimming in the salt water of the ocean was great for clearing up the spots/skin probs :D :D LOL I dunno....what do you do? Thanks for the advice. ;)
  21. WOW thanks for the website link!! I just bought a 6 month supply of advocate for the same price I just payed at the vets for a 3 month supply!! Thats a HUGE saving.
  22. Nah Ellz, he was on the supercoat for 2 huge 18 kilo bags...we were just onto the 3rd when we noticed the 2nd hotspot appear. Both hotspots are in exposed spots. One on the back of his neck and one on his back...so they are not in the usual 'warm spots'.
  23. He had great poos on the chicken bones and vegies, and YUCKO poos on the supercoat!! They were runny and smelly and just plain unhealthy lookin. Thanks Miranda for the info on the 'fungal' stuff. Being a Lab he is constantly shedding to some degree, so we try to brush him very daily/2nd day. We are being more thorough at drying him off after a swim, but no, we have not yet bathed him as he doesn't smell offensive. He swims weekly so i will make sure we dry him down really well.
