For small puppies, is it a good idea to feed them chicken necks etc before their adult teeth come in, or only after they have their adult teeth?

Hope you are well at the Bridge, Oakley angel.

I Just Found My Pap's Tail Is Kinked
Paptacular! replied to Papi_Searcher's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Can you post a picture at all? It might pay to email his breeder to see if she noticed it before he was sold to you. She may have meant to tell you but forgotten? How much is hanging after the kink? -
RIP Satu. I'm sure she's eternally grateful for the time you shared together after her rescue.

V.i.p. Petfoods Roll For Dogs
Paptacular! replied to DogsLover's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Our dogs hate the pet roll food. But they love Chunkers for dinner every once in a while. They also looooooove the Bush's Diced meats. They always ask for more! -
to you. I know exactly what you're going through. I think you are only entitled to a refund if you return the pup, I'm sorry to tell you. My advice is to go and pay a visit to Consumer Affairs, or Legal Aid and find out for sure what is likely to happen in this situation.

Dear Charlotte I'm so so sorry. Even though there is nothing I could have done, I feel terrible. I only had you for 2 days. I feel like the worst Mummy in the world, because you had so many needles while I was your Mummy. I wish I could have had you for a little longer before your time was up. Just one more cuddle. I would give anything to have you back, nice and healthy. You weren't meant to get sick, not this young. Fly free little princess. RIP Charlotte 20/4/08 - 13/7/08

The vet who vaccinated her yesterday said that having the C5 shouldn't be a problem, but I guess different dogs will have different reactions. Pegasus, I think the vet thought that she would do a drip as a drastic measure, if she showed no improvement with the subcut fluids.
-
Thankyou. I have rang her breeder, and she was very concerned. She thinks it may be hypoglycemia, as it sounds similar to what a dog of hers had from another litter a year or 2 ago. She's not on a drip at the moment, because the vet thought that being so small, she might not be able to get a good vein at that point in time. I really do need a rest... I've had a splitting headache since about 2pm, and crying definitely doesn't help it!
-
Charlotte is having a sleep over at the hospital, probably until Monday. She was severly dehydrated, and the brown she was vomiting is thought to be possibly blood. She is getting subcutaneous fluids at the hospital. Fingers crossed she will be ok and they find out the cause.

We're on our way to the vets again. She's not going to eat, she's refused water and she's so wobbly she face planted into the water bowl. She just had a little crying fit as well for no reason that I could see.
-
I've offered her some chicken and she doesn't want it. She was in her crate, and started to cry. I pulled her out and she was dribbling wee. I'm about to give her some more medicine and will try again with the chicken. Ugh, an after hours trip to the vet looks extremely likely.

I got a bit of a nap until my sister came home. I'm scared that the more she drinks, the more she'll throw up, but I don't want her to dehydrate either. I'm starting to wonder if perhaps she's eaten some poo, which is why it's all lovely and brown?? The injection..... I can't quite remember if the vet said it would work straight away, but she advised me to give her the syrup half an hour later, which I did. She needs to have 0.5 ml twice a day (for 2 or 3 days, till we run out). The vet said she should probably eat tonight, she suggested some chicken and puppy milk. We don't have any puppy milk, so I will try her with yogurt. I have some Bush's diced chicken so I'll give her some of that.
-
She just threw up again. And it was all brown and yucky and liquid. If she doesn't eat later I will be very worried.
-
I'm actually thinking about a nap too! She did stir, so I took her for a drink (she had a big drink) and then outside, but she didn't need to go yet. She's back sleeping in her crate now.
-
Thanks pegasus. I feel a bit better now! I was hoping I wasn't over reacting by taking her, but looks like it was definitely a good idea! I'm thinking she will sleep all day if I let her, but I'll get her up again in about an hour for a loo break.
-
She's just been to the toilet as is now having a little snooze in her crate. Keeping her warm isn't a problem, its a beautiful day in Darwin! What I bought home is a Metronidazol Benzoate syrup. She let me give it to her without a problem about half an hour ago. She had a little drink when we got home from the vet. Pegasus, I don't have any natural yogurt at home right now, but will a Vanilla flavoured one be ok?
-
Ok, we have just come back from the vet. She's had a needle to settle her tummy, and we've come home with an anti-biotic/anti inflammatory that she has to have twice daily. She's also quite unsteady on her feet, a bit more sleepy than normal. Poor bubby. But if she's not eating by tomorrow, back to the vet we go.

Hi guys My new puppy (Charlotte) was picked up from the airport on Thursday night. Yesterday she had a C5 vaccination (vet said that she would be ok for the C5). She ate well and was going to the toilet, although her poo was a bit on the sloppy and smelly side, but I put that down to her getting used to new food. Today she's been having watery vomit. She's done it about 4 times since 8am this morning. She hasn't eaten anything other than a liver treat, so of course now it's starting to turn her spews into a lovely browny colour. I rang the vet a short while ago and asked if it was a normal reaction to a vaccination, and they said it's possible and to keep an eye on her and to bring her in if she doesn't improve. I know puppies sleep a lot, but she looks a little lethargic and sleepy today. Should I be worried? Am I too worried at the moment? Anything that might make her feel better that I can do myself?

My precious P I remember going to see you and your brothers and sisters when I was 6. I remember how when all the other puppies wanted to jump and play, all you wanted to do was quietly sit on someone's lap. I remember how you didn't want to come out of the airline crate when you came home... it was 1 step forward, 2 steps back I remember you running around the yard with my sisters and I, trying to grab the end of our long plaits. I remember you getting very sick for the first time, and my parent's realisation that it was no longer safe for you to hide under your favourite bush outside because that's where the ticks you were allergic to were getting to you. I remember teaching you to sit, to stay, and to wait while I hid the Schmacko somewhere before I set you loose to search for it. I remember you being extremely tolerant of our friends, and you snobbing off people that you didn't like, and for good reason too.... you were a great judge of character. I remember seeing you grow old and tired. I remember taking you to the vet a year ago today. But most of all, I remember the cuddles we shared, the kisses you bestowed whether we wanted them or not and the way that you were always there, so reliable. I still love you big boy, I always will.

Thanks Borderpower. I live far enough away from Berrimah (in Parap), and we don't get visitors from there so we should be safe.
