  1. I'm meeting with some other DOLers tonight so I will see if we can scout out a candle, and a glass will definitely be raised.
  2. Poor Jed and poor doggies. Thinking of everyone involved, and three cheers for the Pacers team. After I sort a few things out tonight I will make a donation to Pacers and I have spread the word on Facebook and provided the Pacers link. ETA - Jed was so supportive when I was having a tough time when little Charlotte died and one or two posters in particular were giving me grief over it. I appreciated her thoughtful PM's at the time and I still do. They picked the most undeserving of all people for this to happen to.
  3. A vet I know owns a lurcher. He came with her from the UK. I just love him to bits. And one can never be too old to own a whippet! Less work than a papillon Paps aren't as much work as they look really. Bit more to brush but other than that, not a whole lot of other maintenance. And only clipping is between the paw pads.
  4. 1. Papillons 2. Shiba Inu 3. Swedish Vallhund 4. Schipperke 5. Basenji 6. Pointer 7. Toller 8. Aussie Shepherd 9. Hairless Chinese Crested 10. Saluki
  5. I think they used to be registerable but not anymore. I think they can still be registered in some countries, I'm not entirely sure. What I think Graham Doyle is referring to about things done up on a computer is like the Pet's Paradise idea of 'papers'. This is Mum (Sasha), this is Dad (Fido), this is their birthday. Not real papers.
  6. Things to do with dogs... we have conformation shows, obedience and agility trials and clubs for all these activities. There's an off-lead park in Palmerston and dogs are allowed on most beaches. Lifestyle... easy peasy. Very laid back.
  7. My breed doesn't have a national show. Just 2 specialties per year in the 2 states that actually have breed clubs.
  8. Thanks for results DR. All looks good to me.
  9. Congrats, what a fantastic result from your first litter! Looking forward to big things from this little one.
  10. What results did you guys come home with? And who was BIS/RUBIS for the shows?
  11. He looks gorgeous! And he has a very special birthday too.
  12. And it is not pronounced sausage dog either! This annoys me and I don't even own the breed, just handle some gorgeous longhairs! Or Collies are Lassie Dogs, or Shelties are Mini-Lassies. Or weiner dogs, hot dogs or road trains. Not to be placed on the barbecue or eaten in a bun. I had one friend ask me if he got a bun long enough could he place my miniature in there for a laugh ... What about speed bumps? A lady who shows them up here affectionately refers to hers as speed bumps. They are so cute though.
  13. The correct way to pronounce papillon is pap-ee-yon. There are 2 different ear sets. Papillons have erect ears, and phalenes have the 'drop' ears. They are classed as separate breeds under FCI, but shown and classified as the same breed in Australia, the US and the UK. The 2 different ear sets can occur in the same litter.
  14. Yeah, dangerous. Might end up with bugs or red dirt in your mouth.... ick!
  15. Hope to see you at a Darwin show soon. Your boy looks lovely.
  16. Wish someone up here was selling a collapsible trolley 2nd hand. All the 2nd hand ones in the classifieds pretty much are pick up only, and I'd hate to think of the horrendous postage cost!
  17. First blood..... sounds like Rambo. This was bright red blood, so no confusion there about other discharge. Starting to look for a boyfriend now for her next season.
  18. I noticed she started swelling almost a week before I noticed her first bleed yesterday. She is pretty good at keeping herself tidy though, so it's possible that I missed a couple of days of light bleeding?
  19. Thanks SBT101. This is Portia's second season, it's been 8 months since her last one.
  20. Hello breeders! When counting off days a girl has been in season, do you call day 1 the first day of noticing bleeding, or count backwards a few days to when she started to swell? TIA
  21. OT, but you have no idea how devastated I am that this person does not live at 42 Wallaby Way.
