  1. Ditto ditto. At this stage, I only plan to breed one breed, but I do have a soft spot for various others that I would like to own and show at one stage. These dogs of different breeds will likely be one offs for me
  2. For those needing their neuter class fix, the NT circuit in July just might be the go. I think pretty much every club in the NT offers the class.
  3. This sounds good actually, with the quilt cover. Although I think my Mum got rid of a bunch of old sheets and quilt covers not long ago.
  4. There shouldn't be a need for a heating pad, this is Darwin after all! I will make sure I have a hot water bottle handy though in case of a cool day.
  5. My original plan was to get the 'bumpy' foam for traction and to have a cover made for it, but I may have to rethink. Was also planning on getting some vet bed (and defintely not rubber backed after reading SwaY's thread!)
  6. My first litter is coming up at the beginning of February and I had my whelping box delivered last week. The box is 900mm x 900mm, so it should be very roomy for a pap. My question is, I'm going to be getting a piece of foam cut for the bedding. Should I do the whole 900 x 900 square, or do you think I should aim for 2/3rds of that size and have a small area near the entrance of the box free and unbedded for when the pups start to wander? As they grow I will be extending a penned area from the box so they have room to walk/play. Thoughts or suggestions welcome.
  7. How people think $350 is 'expensive' when all the vet work has been done is beyond me.
  8. Where? The only shows that have neuter classes in WA are the ones who have already had them for years - which means maybe 2 or 3 per year. Given it I would be showing the only desexed dog of my breed that means it will take me about 8 years to get my dog's neuter title This is why those who want it need to push for clubs to offer it. Even if the clubs only offer classes 18/18A rather than the different age classes for neuters. There's a whole other thread for neuter class where shows that are offering it in their upcoming schedules are being posted up, and much of the support for the class from some clubs has come from those who want it lobbying the clubs. And those offering it are getting great entries. The NT is a big supporter of neuter class and is offered at pretty much every show here. Even before points were on offer, there were always a few dogs shown in the class, and since the introduction of points, it has grown quite a lot and we almost always now have a full line up for Neuter in Show.
  9. There is now a Neuter class though, where points are awarded. So there's no need for people to be sneaky and show neutered bitches in the regular classes.
  10. The vet nurses/receptionists at my vets are great. We are regulars, our guys go once a month for tick injections and the nurses do it instead of the vet. They loooooove our fluffs and are very excited that Portia is going to be having pups. One of the newest vet nurses there is actually the daughter of an old boss of mine.
  11. You would be surprised. At Portia's first show in minor, she got RUBOB over an older titled male, and she doesn't have a blaze which some judges can interpret as 'not preferred'.
  12. When you say dog friendly, how friendly? Can dogs sleep in the room crated?

    Bambi

I've avoided reading this until now :D RIP Bambi, you were such a special little girl.
  14. Such cute little angry eyebrows! Reminds me of Aggro from the good old days of early morning telly. Some Aussie type names to fit with the 'down under' theme: Irwin Bruce Skippy Dusty
  15. I wish I had a dog show to go to last night!
  16. I've heard stories like this too. An exhibitor here was unable to take her Dobe with her, and she saw little dogs being 'smuggled' to safety. This is why she now has chihuahuas.
  17. Ultrasound is in...... Confirmed pregnancy here at Paptacular, our first! Saw 4 little bloblets on the screen, one was very active!!
  18. Having it done at Parap Vet Hospital (not sure who the vet on duty will be though). Only there and All Pets at Rapid Creek have ultrasound machines!
  19. Portia and I are going for an ultrasound tomorrow morning..... please cross your fingers for us!
  20. As far as I know, you can't/shouldn't choose..... the DOB is what it is. 31/12 is just as easy to remember.
