  1. No one was staring at you and you did a super job!!! (I used to feel like that too then I realised I was paranoid ) my first show someones dog pee'd on my show pants before I wnet in (while I was wearing them!!!! and I Had to wear jeans, after that I made my husband show for the next 6 months or so cos i was so horrified ) aaaand if the worst thing someone could say about your girl is that her tan is washed out then thats great people can never just be nice they always have to make some shitty comment! p.s her tan looked fine to me and like I said to you berner tan darkens with age. I really like your girl, at least she stood still unlike my ferals anytime you want help with handling tips everyone in our united nations tent loves giving directions Just before showing an Aussie Shepherd for the first time I got weed on, turns out it was good luck and we got BOB! I got pee'd on by a Dane once.... turned out that was good luck too!
  2. Love the colours on that one!!
  3. Might want to add your title before the Maltese people get up you. :D They are not a 'terrier'. But you are right, the only pure ones I think I've ever seen have been at shows.
  4. My new babies names are Tyson (definitely a human name) and Coco (Courtney Cox named her daughter that). And the hanger-on I have's name is Mikey. The only puppy without a human name was Scooter!
  5. I used an outside stud, paid for when the pups were on the ground (as per stud owner's preference).
  6. Re. the bolded part...... THANK YOU! I've been having this same discussion with my Mum about Mikey who's left from the litter. She seems to think what I'm asking is too expensive (the going rate for a pap in the southern states, and the price I paid for Portia, also the price of the stud fee). Compared to other dogs advertised in the paper here (the usual Humpty Doo Pig Dog Special), yes he is more expensive. BUT if you average out the cost over 12-15 years, you are paying minimal on a per year basis. Sure, go out and get the best bargain you can on a TV or fridge. But why would you want to bargain for a life?
  7. Quite rough actually. Almost a sandy/granite feel to them.
  8. The thread in Breeders being referred to was started by myself. The price I am charging for my puppies is the price I paid as a stud fee. Out of 4 puppies born, I was originally planning to keep one, however I did decide to keep a second pup because I thought he was just too lovely to give away. My primary motivation for this litter was to produce a dog/s to continue showing and to add to my breeding line later down the track.
  9. They unfortunately have only been on grass for short periods at a time. The place I am renting at the moment is paved at the back and the front yard that is grassed is not fenced, meaning that others can and do occasionally walk their dogs over/through the area. Because of this I wasn't too keen to have them out there in their early days before their first vacc. I have bought their inside pen outside and supervised them for short runs around out there but I do concede that I will need to do this more often.
  10. Thank you guys. They are almost out of their puppy biscuits anyway, so adult bikkies is now on the shopping list.
  11. Re. the think twice about breeding again. Like most breeders here, I did breed the litter first and foremost for myself. I ended up deciding to keep 2, was originally going to keep just the one, and thought I had two certain homes before the pups were born. One stayed on, unfortunately the other pulled out at 4 weeks old. I do though consider myself lucky that there is only the one remaining to buy a home for... couldn't imagine an extra 10 large breed pups running around!!! Breeding is not something I will be doing whenever I feel like it, due to space restrictions, particularly over the next 2-3 years. And if I'd waited for a huge list of people for another litter, it might take me years to actually put a bitch in whelp! Not to mention that as previously mentioned, people with the best intentions on waiting lists can and do change their mind. And knowing my luck if I had a list, I would end up with a singleton, being a small breed.
  12. Paps do shed and they certainly tend to be very active and animated dogs. Yes and yes, especially as puppies! Older dogs tend to be more settled than pups, but that rings true for most breeds of dog.
  13. My puppies are now almost 11 weeks old. When taking stacked photos today, I noticed that Tyson's front legs were looking very odd. I've researched and it looks like he's beginning to knuckle over. The puppies are all fed the same and run on the same surfaces (combo of tiles and vet bed). Take Mikey here, who's legs are straight. Compared to Tyson here. He's my pick puppy, so I'd really like to see him improve and fix this. At the moment they are having Optimum Puppy kibbles in the morning and in the evening either turkey mince or a chicken neck. What are the solutions to knuckling over?
  14. Of course I like the judges that pick my dogs But on the other hand, there are judges I would definitely show under again despite not winning due to their manner in the ring. Being patient with new exhibitors, new babies and the ones who will take the time to give the same consideration to each dog, as well as letting people know why they've made the decisions they have. That in my book, is a good judge.
  15. TBH it's a little hard to see his outline against the white background. Buuuut from what I can see his head is looking much nicer than it used to, it's refining a bit more and his angles are looking good now, because they will straighten as he gets a little older. All in all, I think he's turning out pretty nicely!
  16. Finally, some updated photos of the rest of the litter! Facebook Album Brand new photos near the bottom at 10 weeks.
  17. At least he won't be a little fatty. Try a few different things and try and pinpoint something he goes absolutely nuts for, could be cheese, BBQ chook, liver treats or anything. When you find that special treat, only bring it out for training and don't feed it any other time. If he loves it that much, he should work hard for it.
  18. Fingers crossed for a nice, easy, within business hours whelping for you LOTG!
  19. I sent one pup to Melbourne via Dogtainers for $175 inc crate hire SwaY. $300 is a farce!!
