Sashas Blend Vs Pernaease Powder
~Archie~ replied to vk2mpj's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
They're both the same. They're both raw products, you're best using something with glucosamine and chondroitin, its more purified and you get better results. I've got our dogs on joint guard and its been terrific, the dogs are racing around like pups again!! Oh and it doesnt smell like the others!! We use to use Sasha's Blend, but joint guard has proved to be a lot better and no more expensive. -
If you store the powder in the fridge it will get moisture in it and turn the product hard.... I learnt this the hard way... I have also asked my vet about using the horse product they called the manufacturer for me and the answer was, horses require different amounts of glucosamine and chondroitin compared to dogs (and cats) so if you use the horse product you'll either underdose the chondroitin or give more than the required amount of glucosamine. Perhaps give the company that make the it a call as its been awhile since my vet called. We now buy the 750g tub off the website that someone else listed and its pretty cheap!!

Joint Guard For Young(er) Dogs
~Archie~ replied to tira_mia's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Yep, its OK to use Joint Guard on young dogs, I've got friends who have their 7month old mastiff on it as a preventative. They buy the 750g tub size because it lasts longer and is more cost effective. -
How Best To Treat Early Arthritis
~Archie~ replied to Perry's Mum's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
We give our labrador joint guard, he has been on it for a couple of years now & he is doing extremely well. He also has cartrophen/pentosan injections every 6 months or so -
This is what our vet recommended when we started our dog on joint guard, he has a sensitive tummy and he was fine!!
-
Have been using Joint Guard treats on my dog that had done a partial cruciate tear, she's about 8 now & is doing very well on them. The good thing about the treats is that they have 1/4 of a scoop of joint guard powder in each treat, so you get the same results using the powder or the treats, its wonderful.

Prevention is better than a cure!! You can start them whenever you like, especially if your dog has had previous issues or is a breed that is prone to hip/elbow issues.

Wollondilly Animal Hospital - 356 Remembrance Drive Picton. Rhys is lovely, and he also has a lovely vet that works there & at their branch practice at The Oaks, Vanene. I have found them to be really friendly.

My girl gets Joint Guard

If your other dog is going to pinch the sasha's blend then you should use joint guard. It doesnt have a fishy smell!! joint guard is more purified that sasha's blend, its got glucosamine & chondroitin in it which is better for joint products than using a raw product like sasha's joint guard doesnt have shark cartilage in it either!! www.jointguard.com.au

Sashas Blend, Joint Guard, Or Something Else?
~Archie~ replied to a topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
We use Joint Guard on our oldies and they are all doing really well Joint Guard has glucosamine & chondroitin and it doesnt smell We're really happy with it and highly recommend it, it isnt too expensive either, my vet called me to tell me they now do a 750g tub, as we were going through the 400g tubs like no tomorrow with all the dogs on it!! -
Pentosan & Cartrophen are exactly the same My vet also uses pentosan and my dogs have responded extremely well to them. The vet also prescribed pentosan equine for my horses, and he told me it was a different strength to the dog one. We refer to it as liquid gold as it makes such a huge difference in our old dogs!
