Just When I Thought I'd Heard It All
Loopy Lola replied to indigirl's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Unfortunately we've had a few ........especially a for purebred border collie pup I had recently ............(.ours are desexed at ten weeks before adoption ) .......then they had the cheek to say we were depriving the pup of a wonderful home :-/ -
Does your friend live in the Joondalup , Belmont or Bassendean areas ? The RSPCA are the impounding facility for these councils but the rangers are employed by council not the RSPCA who have no right to take your friends dog .......it is probs the council rangers .............

Which suburb are you in Hollys Mum ? -
As others have said it wouldn't be costing the vet anywhere near those amounts ...remote or not ...as they buy the vacc and microchips in bulk just like all the other vets . Think the vet nurse is spinning you a yarn as Mary at Safe in Canarvon does vacc , desex and chip which is included in the adoption fee ;)

I don't know any mobile groomers who are near your area Willow , but we have a lovely lady called Maria in Landsdale who does our rescues for free ...........she is lovely and very gentle .......the most timid and neglected dogs we take to her seem to do very well there :-)

We aren't looking for anything specific just wanting to give an opportunity for a larger/older dog to be rehomed. We're looking more for a girl as we already have two boys (a grey and a pom). I'm going to give them a call today and see if I can catch them! Ok , do you have a 3rd dog licence or are you on large acreage .........there is a strict 2 dog limit in WA We're on a large acreage, allowed to have 4 dogs here Cool .......if you pm me your no I can give you a call tomorrow for a chat ..........:0) -

What type of dog are you looking for TunaGirl and do you already have a dog/ other pets ? -
If it was picked up off the road by council workers then no they wouldn't check for a chip , like cownabree said they are taken straight to the council tip :-( if your pet was picked up by member of public and taken to a vet then they would generally scan for a chip .

New Vic Microchip Advertising Rules
Loopy Lola replied to Sir Sniffalot's topic in General Dog Discussion
I doubt that this pup even exists ........just another scammer pinching parts of other ads to make theirs sound genuine -
This latest raid was a different puppy farmer near Kellerberrin which was instigated by the local ranger and police . The woman had already been given a lifetime ban on owning dogs but moved shire and started up again . 51 dogs were seized from the property and I know one poor lab bitch started to give birth in the council pound . The Bakers Hill * Dog Sanctuary * is a different place ........... I believe the page was removed as there is a court case ongoing at the moment regarding that place .

How about getting someone to housesit and care for the three dogs at home ?
-
There was someone wanting to rehome an older Pyr a few months back............don't know if it's the same one? From what I remember it was a friend of the owner that rang and I said that we needed to speak to the actual owner .........never heard back !

So how do they know the RSPCA is investigating before they get there? Thought they said they had handed it over to the council why cant the council get a complaint and shoot on over there ? Nup I need more evidence than this - whether or not they have an ABN doesn't interest me either. Apart from the fact the inspector told me himself .......it also states it on the RSPCA WA facebook page ........not sure how things work with the RSPCA over where you are but last time this place was raided it was one of our group that took the dogs in and had to attend with our dog trailers to transport them .....the rangers and RSPCA were there .......but didn't take any of the seized dogs into their care .
-
The RSPCA are investigating again .......but by the time that happens place is cleaned up a little and numerous puppies have already been moved to other family members properties .........the only dogs that were handed over last time were either male , old and full of mammary tumours or older pups that were quite timid and therefore not so saleable .......the only desexed dog handed over was the daughters pet and they asked for two undexed alpine dingos back in return for her . They are not registered as a business or have an ABN for either a rescue/sanctuary nor a puppy farm anywhere ;)

Worst Excuses For Re-homing Or Surrendering A Pet
Loopy Lola replied to PeiPei's topic in General Dog Discussion
Hear most of the usual excuses on a daily basis but had a heartbreaking one just on xmas eve . Woman rang the vet to pts her just turned 1 year bc x whippet saying her daughter was sick ......vet asked if she had any health issues and had she tried rescue groups ? No health issues except she was pregnant so she didn't think anyone else would want the hassle of having pups over xmas either . We picked up Bindi on Xmas Eve afternoon and she gave birth to her 8 babies on Xmas Day -
What Breeds / X-breeds Show Up In Shelters?
Loopy Lola replied to sandgrubber's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yes me too.........infact I would like to see a law here that ALL cats and dogs should be vaccinated and microchipped before being advertised for sale or incur a hefty fine .......it may put some people off if they have to pay out before they can make money from sale of pups and kittens . There is legislation in the ACT requiring dogs to be microchipped if sold ... 84 Identification of dogs and cats—requirement (1) A person commits an offence if— (a) the person keeps a dog or cat; and (b) the dog or cat is required to be identified by a regulation made for section 83; and © the dog or cat is not identified as required by the regulation. Maximum penalty: 5 penalty units. Dogs and cats Part 3 Section 84 (2) A person commits an offence if— (a) the person sells a dog or cat; and (b) the dog or cat, after the sale, is required to be identified by a regulation made for section 83; and © the dog or cat is not identified as required by the regulation. Maximum penalty: 5 penalty units. (3) An offence against this section is a strict liability offence. And the regulation 7 How dogs must be identified—Act, s 83 (1) A registered dog must be identified by a tag attached to a collar worn by the dog. (2) The tag must be the dog’s registration tag or another tag that shows the dog’s registration number. (3) A dog must also be identified by an identifying microchip if the dog— (a) is at least 12 weeks old; or (b) has been sold; or © is a dangerous dog. (4) The identifying microchip must— (a) be implanted in the dog; and (b) contain a number (the unique identification number) by which the identification particulars for the dog can be worked out; and © function properly. (5) The identification particulars for a dog are— (a) the following information about the dog: (i) the dog’s breed; (ii) the dog’s date of birth or age; (iii) the dog’s colour; (iv) the dog’s sex; (v) the dog’s reproductive status; (vi) the address where the dog is, or is to be, kept; (vii) the unique identification number of the identifying microchip implanted in the dog; (viii) the identification number of any other microchip implanted in the dog; (ix) the name and business address of the person who implanted the identifying microchip mentioned in subparagraph (vii) and the date it was implanted; (x) whether the dog is a dangerous dog; and (b) the following information about the dog’s owner: (i) the owner’s name and home address and, if different, postal address; (ii) a contact telephone number for the owner; and © the name of a person (other than the owner) who can be contacted in relation to the dog and a contact telephone number for the person. (6) However, subsection (3) does not apply to a dog if— (a) the dog is less than 6 months old; and (b) a veterinary surgeon certified in writing, before the dog was 12 weeks old or first sold (whichever is the earlier), that identification of the dog by identifying microchip would be a serious health risk to the dog. I can tell you now though, it doesn't stop people selling pups without microchips, and unless the purchaser of the pup makes a complaint, how can it be investigated? I'm sure someone can tell you in more detail, but my observation of the DAS site is that the common occupants are Staffy (and their crosses) Jack Russells (and their crosses) and working dogs. Unfortunately there aren't any similar requirements in WA
