  1. I've used sard wonder soap on really bad staining(including grease) than rinse and apply shampoo
  2. The book i have says to use between 100-150ml per bath but i only use around 50ml and only fill my bath to just above the inlet thing,so only about 1/2 way but my dogs don't have fleas,so if fleas present i'd go the 100ml
  3. Possibly a zinc tablet a day may help
  4. Blue Ribbon Coat enhancer is supposed to darken mask etc and contains kelp http://www.pawzazzpetz.com.au/gpage10.html Can also buy powdered kelp for dogs here. They recommend 1/2 teas day for kelpie size http://www.callicoma.com.au/supplem1.htm. I've brought a fair bit from this lady and she's really good to deal with
  5. In Dr I an Billinghursts book Give your dog a bone he recommends a kelp tablet daily for your average 20kg dog to ensure it receives adequate iodine for functioning of the thyroid gland Over-zealous administration of iodine can be toxic to your dog.It causes the thyroid to shut down production of the thyroid hormone and your dogs whole metabolism slows down
  6. washing them in 90% kero and 10% motor oli is the best thing after use, just dry off with a paper towel and store in an air proof container, you can place a piece of chalk in there to absorb any water You can also dip the tips of the baldes in the above solution while you're clipping as well
  7. The Double K has twice the power as the single motor one.It has two switches.Turn one on for low speed or both for the high speed.Blows the water out of my german shepherds super fast It doesn't have a heater but warms up over the motors
  8. I also agree the Double K dryer is great.Heres a link to Clipperworld who sell them,on special for $435 and they give great service http://www.clipperworld.com.au/shop/index....Cat&catId=6
  9. Dr Ian Billinghurst suggests the following oils can be added cod liver oli, corn oil, soyabean oli, wheatgerm oli, cottonsead oil, safflower oli, sunflower oil and peanut oil. I personally use this Blue Ribbon Coat enhancer http://www.pawzazzpetz.com.au/gpage10.html It contains omega 3,6 & 9
  10. here's an artical i found on honey and bee venom for dogs http://www.i-love-dogs.com/dog-articles/Do...A_Solution.html
  11. If you have a webcam on your computer it may pay to set it up facing your yard and record the dogs movements for a week or so and keep them on your computer with dates etc for proof. I received a letter from the council a few weeks ago about dog barking and did the webcam thing for a while just as proof in case it went any further. Good Luck,i hope things go ok for you
  12. If you happen to have one of those mixer taps in your laundry or kitchen you can unscrew the end off the spout and put a fitting on(get it from hardware store)and you add the plastic attachment you put on your outside taps and attach a hose to it and run it outside. That way you have acess to warm water without carting buckets of water out. Thats what i did before i brought a hydrobath.
  13. I recently received a letter from council about my dog(although i have 3 so maybe its a standard copy)barking and i wondered if maybe it was more the dog that lives towards the back of out property but at the back as he sits against the fence and barks trying to get my dogs up there.I know that if they go up there they will bark at him so i had put up an electric fence that blocked that part of the yard. I pop the web cam on everytime i go out pointing towards the yard and save them with the dates etc so i have proof.
  14. Nutro but just trailling a bag of be-Natural
  15. I found them on ebay and it did mention that they manufacture scissors as well
  16. Came across GEIB Buttercup clipper blades and wondered if anyone has heard of/used them before thanks
  17. can get polaramine etc from chemists.Ring your vets and see what one they suggest and dosage rates. When i rang mine regarding one of my dogs being itchy they were really good. I'd probably be giving the flaxeed oil more than once a week(2-3 maybe) especially to start with to get the itching under control
  18. OK,i'll stop getting excited about Leonards price than :p
  19. Thats even better, didn't reliase Leonards sold turkey, thats how much i take notice

  21. I was just down the local Woolies and noticed they now carry turkey necks. They were in the meat section, between pet meat section and the offal section, wrapped in the white wrappers like the chooks are .I brought a pack to try and they were $3.10 kg.Got 8 necks for $3.78.What sort of prices are they normally?I've never come across them before,Have seen turkey wings at Coles a few times
  22. Yep,a friend of mine actually does the grooming there. If you can't find anyone else around in the other towns thats ok she'd be the best bet.Only does grooming Tue,wed and thursday i think. Her names Nola, tell her Julie sent you I'll just email my friend in Tamworth and see if three upa nd running yet or if she can recommend someone around there
  23. I used to be a groomer in Dubbo!!Theres no one in Dubbo i'd recommend though,no one there has had any kind of training. What kind of dog is it and do you need him clipped?? The girl who brought my business would be ok for bathing, drying etc but not sure about clipping as she only brought business a couple of days before i moved and she'd only watched me up until that stage .Let me know if you get stuck as the breeder who i got one of my shepherds off lives in Tamworth and her and a friend were going to start up a grooming service and her friend had experience
  24. I'd try getting him to sit when you see another dog approach and get the attention on you and reward the behaviour with a treat
