Was talking to a lady at obedience the other day and she mentioned she was thinking about a Canny Collar.I had not heard of them before plus I'm not a halti type fan but had a quick look and thought they looked similar to the Black Dod Infini8 ones. Anyone got any thoughts on the 2 styles mentioned??anyone use the canny collar

Not good if you have a strong dog but I believe you lock it into the length you'd like though so i don't think the dog could just keep pulling it out

Is he crate trained? If not it might be an option.Just pop him in the crate of a night and cover over good luck with everything

Hi all, had a client the other day comment that her dog is allergic to fish and hadn't really come across any one else that had the same problem. She hasn't had the dog to a vets to be diognosed, simply said that she started adding a fish oil supplement and the dog started itching Is it a common allergy at all??
-
I recently got some chicken liver treats from Petbarn and I noticed them at the supermarket as well.Think they were Kramar brand and i'm sure they had no presertatives etc in them. Not sure if i've seen lamb liver though I'm also trying to track down some natural tuna and sardine treats as well

Does he get a smell about him ,even quite soon after bathing? One of my gsd's used to itch constantly and I had her to the vet who said it was probably an air-borne allergy so hard to pin point. They put her in medication which only controlled it a little. When I went back to get some more tables another vet commented it could be a yeast infection as apparently gsd's are prone to it,so I started her on malaseb baths whcih also controlled it but never realy stopped it I changed her food over to Nutro Lamb and Rice and after about 6 weeks on that the itching stopped.I.'ve also added Healthy Paws Capsules which contain the essential fatty acids EPA and DHA

Hi Hespandabear she was fine on the nutro, just after I introduced her on the Orijen(just trialling to see what the results are compared to Nutro) I noticed her itching so took her off it and back onto Nutro but I'm thinking it's more a cause of the damm plant stuff that was un covered about the same time as I introduced the new food I didn't reliase there was so many damm varieties of the stuff either.I actually thought the scurvy weed was a nice groundcover

Orijen Is Now Avaliable In Australia
4 Paws replied to laffi's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I've only been feeding for a week(trialling it as I have added it to my lines I sell so am just really trailling it with my dogs to see how it compares with there regular food of Nutro) so can't really make any comments but noticed in another thread busterlove is feeding Orijen -
She's normally on Nutro Lamb and Rice but as I sell pet products online I like to test all my products I sell with my own dogs so can give customers an honest opinion so changed over to Orijen.I can't be 100% sure she wasn't itching before the gradual change over to Orijen. The other gsd has had no problems(and she's normally my problem girl)on the Orijen I introduced it gradually and it was only on the 3rd day of mixing with the nutro i discovered the rash. I also wash dogs at home and had recently washed a dog that had fleas so thought it may have been fleas so bathed them and it was when i was drying her i noticed the rash on her belly.I used advantix after the bath and stopped the orijen, returning her to nutro. It was the next day i discovered the scurvy weed in the back yard so don't really know for sure what's causing her to scratch . The rash has now gone but she's still scratching and nibbling. So its' been a week of going back on Nutro

If a dog has an allergy to a particular ingerdients in a food, how long after stopping the food would you expect to see them return to normal if it's indeed related to food(only a newly introduced food)? Just trying to work out if scratching(and a rash on the belly) is food related or I have also recently found a relative of the wondeing jew plant(scurvy weed)in the yard and it was recently mowed and exposed(grass/weeds were really lony and landlord only just mowed it so exposing the scurvy weed) The introducton of the food and the discovery of the scurvy weed were at about the same time so hard to pin point.OH is going to try and spray the weed when it's not raining but it seems to be all around the ground in patches, not just in one location!
