  1. Hi, just wondering if anyone can recommend any alternatives to Rescue Remedy for fear based aggression.I have used it previously and didn't really notice any difference so just checking what else is worth trying. I thought i saw some time ago there was a tablet from the health food shop you could use but can't remember the name and when i asked today they just said rescue remedy was the only thing to use
  2. there was a thread about these ones a couple of weeks back
  3. Black Dog do a really nice one, comes in a few different sizes as well.I've also just got a Premier Gentle Leader one to try as well heres couple of pics
  4. Thats good news Didn't think it would be an easy job keeping her quite
  5. Oh no what a bugger and fancy having to try and keep Jemima quite, that will be fun. Well looks like we won't see you for a little while than, fingers crossed she recovers soon oh,and where did you get to Lucy's Run,have a big night on friday
  6. I use the airmax on my german shepherds and it's brilliant. I would imagine the challangair one would be similar to using the airmax on the 1st speed.I would just use the 1st speed on the airmax on swf, anything else is 2 speed. It does warm up over the motor after a few minutes. In my opinion i'd put the extra money in and get the airmax.
  7. Must have. It was my birthday the day that this thread was going round and so I was not in here and everything was fine when I last got the nutro.... It was very sudden for everyone.Distributors had no warning. I've switched my lot over to Orijen now and doing very well
  8. The hospital is about 5 mins,if that, from me and I'm at Cordeaux Heights WE were lucky that the owner of this house is pretty layed back. The previous tennant owned a labradore and it lived inside and the real estate knew that.It must have as there wern't any side gates(we put up mesh)My dogs come inside but they must go into there crates though It was hard finding a house that had 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms as we have 3 kids, let alone one that allowed dogs.Seeing you don't have that problems hopefully you'll find something a bit easier Where abouts in the Central West are you?I moved from Dubbo Fingers crossed for the job
  9. Welcome to DOL black magic I'm sure you'll learn heaps on here. We'd love to meet up with you when you pup once she's ready, love the name Leila Looking forward to meeting you soon. Why don't you come down and have a look at the training this saturday as they'll be having the flyball and agility demo as well julie
  10. I had a german shepherd with bloat years ago.Unfortunately i didn't know too much about nutrition etc back than and she was feed supermarket kibble and canned food. The night she got bloat she had pinched some cooked broccoli off the kids plates(they'd left them in there cubby house)and the vet thinks that the broccoli fermanted and gave off a gas which caused the bloat. I am very cautious about not giving any cooked vegies now.I feed Orijen to my girls now and just keep a close eye on them.Don't do anything special but feed a bit later in hot weather and they usually come inside after dinner and lay down so its easy to watch them
  11. you can actually get g -whizzers(dried goat penis) and beef whizzers here.I posted about them a couple of weeks ago in general
  12. here's a recent pictures of my girls coats after being on the Orijen for just one bag
  13. EPI description https://www.vetconnect.com.au/5min/data/05740575.htm Defiantely less shedding .They were shedding all the time on previous food, had loose hair on there coat all the time despite constant grooming.Got them on Orijen and it all stopped. after about 3 weeks. Have put them back on Nutro at the moment as I sell pet products and had quite a few samples left after Nutro announced they were no longer importing into Aust and after about a 10 days, they're shedding again so it has to be the Orijen stopping it,not just seasonal
  14. I used to feed Nutro and have changed to Orijen.Dogs are doing very well on it.Less shedding and coats are looking brilliant. Have tried samples of the other 2 mentioned and dogs seemed to like them as well but haven't feed them, both good foods though and I hope to try a bag of the artemis soon to compare Have discovered that Orijen is suitable for dogs with EPI which may help some owners

  17. Cool,we'll be able to organise a DOL meet. Now just a few more Wollongong DOL'ers to wrangle in,now where is CBL and Patch,he'd be GREAT at obedience, and even better at agility This saturday's only goes to 9.45 as there's an agility and flyball demo. Will try and catch up and say hello.Lucy's pretty easy to spot so if you hang around them I'll find you.I take one of my german shepherds and I guess to a lot of people they all look the same and theres a few there now(used to actually be a gsd club) cya saturday guys Patch? Agility! That would involve effort I love my boy to death, but he is dumber than a box of rocks! I am thinking of doing lessons though - may have to join you guys but think I will start with a couple of private classes before unleashing his silliness on everyone :D I also need to get his immunisations up to date, I know they are due soon but his booklet is out of reach in storage. Jemapelle and I were talking about a Wollongong DOL meet. Must organise it soon. I hope you haven't taught Patch to read yet CBL,he'd be horrified to read he's dumber than a box of rocks ;)

  19. A lady at training puts a leather bark muzzle on her cattle dog in the car as it barks non stop when she's driving. It has some adjustments so she can tighten or loosen it as required. I have a husher for one of my girls and yes she can still bark but it tires them quite quickly so they choose not to bark so much as it's an effort
  20. I think it's clever ,although mine alwys run away from me but not on command

  22. Unfortuantely as you probably know german shepherds are prone to yeast infections. One of my girls suffered from it for quite some time.I did the malaseb baths as well but it seemed to just control it,never clear it up. It wasn't till after I changed her diet to Nutro Lamb and rice taht it actually cleared up.I have since changed to Orijen now that Nutro is no longer available in Aust. She has been on it for a few months now and still no itching and no horrible yeast odour.I also add a Healthy Paws Skin supplement every day as fish oil is supposed to help treat skin allergies and yeast infections Good Luck
  23. If it's a human product and there is a kids dose listed thats generally the amount for a dog under about 30kg's
