  1. I've found the same thing,I've had to reduce the amount by about a 1/3 so overall it doesn't work out that expensive
  2. I swapped from Nutro lamb and rice to Orijen adult and one of my gsd's used to be itchy before we got onto the Nutro and she's had no itchiness on the Orijen. You can get a 400G Orijen pack to try for $5
  3. thankyou for your thoughts,i might give it a go in situations that she finds hard(ie-around other dogs)although i'll probably still use my YES as i'll find it hard to keep my mouth closed after doing it for so long
  4. Just wondered if any one has this dvd and if you would recommend it?
  5. wow, interesting concept and most dogs appeared to be settled after a short while. Would love to know if that was the 1st time this class had done it or they had been doing that programme for a while
  6. kelpi-i,would the Joanne Plumb dvd's be better than the Leerburg Training a competition heeling dog dvd?I was just about to purchase the Leerburg one but might go with the one you mentioned if you think it would be better. My gsd is about on the same level with focus
  7. Shell,as mentioned before PM me if you'd like as i have all sizes in stock of Orijen (400G,2.5kg,7kg and 13.5kg)
  8. Prehaps PM Hesapandabear,I know she use's it
  9. this website may help with a few basics http://www.bordercollierescue.org/breed_ad...niCommands.html
  10. May I ask where did you buy it from? Thanks here it is,come in red, blue and black,20 or 25mm width really nice and soft so you don't get friction burn I'll PM you details
  11. I haven't tried a rolled collar but i have seen them on this website where i have brought a few things http://www.callicoma.com.au/collars21.htm I presonally use one of these leather collars
  12. I use a 10mt webbing one but it was around $40
  13. thanks for your thoughts. I'm wondering if a clicker may be more beneficial in some situations for my gsd who is fear aggressive of other dogs(mainly large ones).I find all other commands she is great with verbal markers but once she gets around dogs i find she does not seem to focus on my voice as much, any thoughts? Do you think its worthwhile trying the clicker instead while around other dogs for not reacting?
  14. no it's not but i've sold some to someone over there.PM me if you'd like an idea on costs involved for delivery
  15. hey no critiisum here,my gsd still won't give me that much focus, well done i say I can get the focus when shes in a drop stay or sit stay but as for when heeling nah.Still working it it though Can i express post my lot to you :D
  16. It is expensive but i guess they're charging you for the halti as well in that. I think Valby has deceided to come to the club i go to which is South Coat dog training now anyway. They only charge $3 lesson, there is a joing fee but i can't remember what it was,not anything like $80 though and they most of the trainer are not fond of halters. The instructor i had the other day gave the talk about the injuries they can give dogs and a guy in the class promptly took his off the dog
  17. thats great! They have the meet and great classes for beginners every week so you could come anytime. The other 2 DOL people are in the beginners class so you'll get to be with them after the 1st week.
  18. That sounds really good. I love the idea of trialling the two lessons first-and taking them alternative weeks! I'm going to look at those remedies too, can't hurt We've all just been for a long walk..Coco and me, then MJ, Halston and me-phew I know I'm tired, but ahh there is peace and quiet Great let me know when you may be coming along so i can introduce myself. There's a couple of other Wollongong DOL'ers who have recently started coming along(well the slack'os have only come once but than things came up and they couldn'tget back yet but i think they will be returning soon ) here's there website http://www.scdtc.org/ here's a link to the Greenpet Nerve tonic,i havn't given it to her yet but will for a couple of days before we go to training next time,it contains skullcap, rosemary, hoops, elder and vervain http://greenpet.com.au/product_info.php?cP...;products_id=66 I noticed Dogtech have a naughty dog class and they make you use a halter as well
  19. the Dapto club is realy good,it's at the showground but you go in just across from the police station. They don't really recommend halters at all which is good.I take my 2 dogs alternate weeks so theres no reason you couldn'd do the same. The obedience is 8.30 am saturdays, although they don't start till 9am.The flyball and agility are tues and wed nights 1st 2 lessons are free and you only join the club once you've had you 2 lessons
  20. I do own one but as you said i am usually using both hands for training,ie lead and other hand for signals, treats etc. I did buy one of those wrist thingys to hold it but it was still a pain.I can understand what you're saying about the tones etc.I always give my dogs the marker wheter it b during an actaul training session or just going to there mat/crate when told etc or doing what i've asked. thanks for the info erny
  21. I have my dogs trained using a verbal marker(yes).Do you think there's any benefit of using a clicker instead of verbal marker?
  22. Was looking around leerbug website and they have these new groovy collars that can replace the collar on some e-collars and bark collars so you get a snugger fit.Similar to a zip tie but you can release them. Can be used as a regular collar. I'm going to get a couple in to try on my Dogtra collars http://www.leerburg.com/1150.htm
  23. I did email the seller and they do make smaller ones as well,do you think a smaller one would be better for getting dogs interested first? here's the pic of the smaller ones they make they just sent me
  24. Hi, I'm interested in buying my gsd's a tug toy to try and get them interested in playing and came across these ones listed on ebay.I've never brought one before and just wondered if all you expert tug toy buyers could tell me if it looks like it would last with a couple of large dogs http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Tug-toys-motivators...1QQcmdZViewItem and these ones http://www.freewebs.com/ruff_n_tumble/tugtoys.htm I love the pink and black ones, hmm might have to try one, could always use it a s fashion accessory if they won't play with it :nahnah:
