I agree with the above statements . I feed my dogs Orijen which is considered by some to be quite high in Protein. Here's a good website to get a little information about protein http://www.thepetcenter.com/imtop/protein.html

Do you know where they sell the Simpson,at either retail or wholesale? ETA-just noticed challenge Dog supplies sells them ,they have a Simpson Supajet 2600wts,so it would be pretty good?

I have a friend who's looking to purchase a dryer on a stand with variable heat and air control.Anyone know of any good brands you'd recommend as i've only dealt with force dryers

Thanks for your help 4 Paws (and everyone elso too). I've taken your advice and gone with the the Royale (free cover included). I've already received a number of emails from the seller and she seems really nice. I'm hoping it's as easy to put up as everyone says - it looks complicated on the web-site I'm sure you'll be happy with it :D and yes,she is a lovely lady and very easy to deal with

Is there much difference between the two? From what I can see it only seems to be the covers over the vents/windows. Sorry for the questions but I don't want to buy one and wish I'd bought a different one later on :D Luke W: You're right it does look pretty cool. I like the idea, but I'm not sure how long it would last. It's certainly good for the price though. The K9 Royale is the sort of crate I had in mind. I got the Royale basically because it would fit into the back of my car when set up and has the 2 doors, not just the one entry. Its not as high as the Competition.Proably the same circulation wise. The Royale has a few storage areas( section on top and an attachment at the side which can be removed)

I actually read about liverwurst yesterday for treats and grabbed some. How do you give it to them as its really soft and mushy.I was thinking to put it into a small container and let her have a few licks as Jean Donalds mention this method with baby food(not sure what kind of flavour). I had to give her a tablet today and just coated it in liverwurst and it went down straight away

it's really strong, says virtually indestrutable. Its areally think kind of plastic ,you can't even push it in

Ohhh can I ask were you found it?!?! Maybe piece of cheese! here you go http://cgi.ebay.com.au/M-L-Busy-Buddy-Tug-...1QQcmdZViewItem. The med/large one is only $14.99 from this seller and they're around $39 on some websites,a great professional seller i've purchased a few things from

I just purchased a Tug-A-Jug in the large size for my gsd's and it says to put kibble or treats in them.I've put there regular Orijen and even had some Eagle Pack samples but they come out quite easy from the top.Anyone know any other kibble etc that would not fall out so easy

I bouught the 107cm in the Competition model and the 102cm in the Royale for german shepherds I use the Competition one for everyday use that is set up in the loungeroom but got the fraction smaller sized one for use in the car.The Royale model has 2 doors, one of the end and one on the side and i set it up it in the back of my Kluger so i can use the side door for entry(dogs travel in it for trips). Some soft crates only have one door entry

Unfortunately she's not interested in toys or balls what so ever I just did some training using dry treats(roo heart, dried tuna)instead of the soft fresh stuff(deceided after the replies i'd save it for class) i was using and i found when heeling and she was giving me focus i was clicking and treating but than she was falling back while chewing it whereas with the soft stuff it went down straight away. I think i need a huge multi-pocketed treat bag to keep some of both for different situations.. If she's doing a recall and comes super fast and a straight sit i like to have something super nice to reward

these ones are great,i have one of each type they sell http://cgi.ebay.com.au/K9-ROYALE-SOFT-DOG-...1QQcmdZViewItem

thanks for the input everyone.I might drop back to dry treats for everday training and go to the soft, fresh treats for obedience club training than. I was actually just watching the new Jean Donaldson's Perfect Paws in 5 days and she mentioned even using a jar of baby food and the dog can have 2 licks as a reward or using cherios. I looked around the supermarket today for ideas and came up with a few more ideas-shrimp flavoured crackers, tinned prawns, and liverwurst( i brought some little salad dressing containers)in a container so dog can get a few licks as a treat.Could even put tuna or salmon in a similar container i guess

Sorry, no treats suggestions. How do you specifically train a fear aggressive dog? Mine ignores other dogs normally, but then just goes off and snaps. She is fear aggressive, not aggressive as such. she is fearful of children too, so we avoid them  She is trained, but I don't know how to trin the fear out of her, if that makes sense  I just wondered what you find works? Sorry OT, but there are so many 'DA' threads out there ATM, inc mine  I just use chicken, sausage, cut up roast etc. for high value, and cheese. Otherwise I just throw a biscuit in my pocket and break it up for low value. Good luck with your dog I've just started using a clicker for this situation(normally train with a verbal marker)so am starting to click and treat before she reacts(so clicking her for looking at another dog and not reacting) and hopefully being able to move in closer so she reliases being near another dog is a good thing as she gets click = treats Its only a new method i'm trying after using other methods which while have helped have not fully cured her reaction.I've also been able to get a lot more focus when heeling this week since using the clicker so am hoping asking for attention will help the overall problem.Nor sure if it's the clicker thats helped with the focus or its just coming together.I just find if she sees another dog she seems to not hear my voice so i guess a clicker may be more obvious and when she hears it she may(hopefully)look to me for the reward.Figure it can't hurt

Thnat was one of my concerns too http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Dog-Treat-Dried-Chi...1QQcmdZViewItem

I'm finally getting quite good focus in heeling now with one of my gsd's but i've noticed she now kicking her bum out to the left instead of being straight.Any ideas of how we can fix it before it goes on.. We're not going to be trialling, just doing obedience at the local club so its not super important and am prettywrapped about finally getting the focus

OOOH-I have dried roo heart (i sell pet stuff LOL) but always use fresh kind of things.Always thought that the dried stuff would not be considered a high a value but i guess it depends what the dog really loves the taste of Might get some of the dried stuff out and try it.I noticed i can buy dried calamari too, wonder what it would be like, its expensive though
-
Thanks for those ideas Gaylek,i might give the twisties a try.I do have dried tuna as well but was actually trying to think of fresh kind of stuff but that might just work.

I train normally with things like chicken, cheese, devon, cabanossi, sausages etc and am just looking for something that i don't use reguarly as normal treat to be used in times of high distraction for my dog(she is fear aggressive so am looking for high value rewards for when she pays no attention to another dog) I used chicken necks cut in half today(shes a gsd)but they're quite mesy.I now you can get dried chicken necks(i just asked about them in health) An other ideas?she is not motivated by toys either
-
I'm thinking about ordering some dried chicken necks and just wondered if anyone has tried them with there dogs and if they liked them

Northern Suburbs Dog Training Club

I had a similar problem when I was looking for a club. They said the clicker would be distracting to the other dogs and if more than one handler was using a clicker the dogs would get confused about which click was for them! ok,no one else i have seen uses a clicker at my club plus a few weeks ago when i spoke to an instructor to get some hints about getting focus she pulled a clicker out and showed how it's used,so i'm guessing that they'll allow it for me -

Why are clickers not allowed in class?is that a normal thing?i've been toying with starting to use a clicker for my dog aggressive girl around other dogs at obedience but no one else uses them, maybe whatever the reason behind that club not allowing them is a normal thing at obedience clubs -
