Awesome!!! 3 takers already  (yes ness I am counting you in ) Btw Spotted Devil you can see how much the postage of your items is going to be without checking out completely. Usually it works out to be cheaper if you share with other people, even interstate. just let me know when you'll be placing order ,thanks heaps.I was browsing clear run the other night and thinking I "needed" a few things.Pleased I didn't go ahead with the order now that we can combine orders and save on postage  -

sits up nice and straight and puts hand up -
do you dilute the Cotex when using as a spray PPS? Never had a dog with hot spots but have Cotex so just wanted to check incase we ever need it
-
I was sent a sample of dried green lipped mussels and while they looked discusting the dogs were more than happy to eat them as treats and I would happily use them if my dogs needed them.Think you only needed to give 2 mussels per day

http://www.blackdog.net.au/index.php I have this one

for treats I sell tuna, hoki and roo heart which may be suitable http://www.pawzazzpetz.com.au/gpage3.html (can also get roo puffs, liver and jerky from my supplier)

It was a couple of years ago, maybe 3 actually and it was only a basic manners class. The lady who run it was doing it out of a vets at the time so from memory she recommended the brands the vets sold which was the Blackdog and possiblyt the Gentle Leader, can't really remember but I know they really pushed for all the dogs in the class to have a head collar at the time
-
thanks Erny, appreciate your thoughts, thats exactly what I was after. Have seen the GL on a few dogs at training and can't really see how they would close the dogs mouth if lead was pulled up as it sits so high up on the nose but they do claim it's possible on there website
-
Yes - it would have similar action. As to which brand you use (if you're going to use one) depends on what fits the dog the best. If you've not used a head collar before I would strongly recommend you have at least one lesson tutoring you on how the head-collar should fit, how to use it and how NOT to use it. thanks, yes I have used a blackdog one before a few years ago when I attended a 6 week course through a delta trainer but I sold the harness ages ago and was just reading about the halti having the ability to close the mouth so looked up gentle leaders as well to see if they did the same thing and the the Black Dog one but there was no mention of it on their website about it I was actually looking into them as I am looking at instructing at our local obedience club and they sell a few different brands of head collars so was wanting to find any benefits of one over the other basically if someone wanted to buy one
-
here's a section out of info on the halti I found It is NOT a muzzle. When fitted properly, your dog is free to open its mouth to eat, drink, pant, fetch, bark and even bite - except when you close its mouth by pulling on the leash. http://www.bowhouse.com.au/p/452062/halti-...headcollar.html and I've read similar info about the gentle leader.I actually remembered I had a halti here I used to use on the foxie and popped it on him and you can pull the lead straight up and his jaws are closed in that position, just wondered if teh Blackdog one does the same thing
-
Was looking at different head halters and their features and noticed both the Halti and the Gentle Leader mention that if you pull the lead upwards you can in fact bring the dogs jaw together if it's barking etc. Just wondered if anyone knows if the Blackdog brand one has the same feature as there is no mention of it on the internet

We have this one,as you can see you can get treats in,a bit tricky though http://www.fordogtrainers.com/index.asp?Pa...amp;ProdID=1457

I'd suggest bathing in Malaseb a couple of times a week, leaving it on for the recommended 10 mins before rinsing
-
I had the same reaction when I muzzled my gsd at training,no one wanted to even stand next to us If you use a wire muzzle you still will be able to use treats,it's a little tricky but can be done and does make you feel a lot more at ease especiallyif you need to do recalls and off lead work

My Dog Is Not Interested In Toys
4 Paws replied to WildatHeart's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I'm the same with my 2 dogs. They are not particuarly interested in toys or tugs and I wish that they would at least chase a ball occasionally instead of just looking at me like I'm crazy and waiting for me to go get it if I want it back, think my lot are broke I keep buying different toys thinking this will be the one that gets them interested but does not happen, even brought a ball tonight for them from Pet Barn as it's a bit more rubbery than the other balls they have, fingers crossed -
That Doggy Smell On Coat - Yeast Infection?
4 Paws replied to WildatHeart's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
One of my gsd's used to be the same, always smelly and itchy.I had her to the vets and they just said it was probably an airborne allergy and out her on tablets, can't remember the name When I run out and had to go back to get more another vet was on and when speaking to her she mentioned it may be a yeast infection as gsd's are prone to them and sold me the malaseb. This did clear her up after a few hydrobaths I feed Artemis and Healthy Paws Skin supplement plus flaxseed oil when I have it on hand Do you have a hydrobath Wildatheart? If not it may pay to get someone in at least once as the hydrobath gets right into the skin and get them to use the malaseb.Make sure it is left on for the suggested time(10 mins I think) Just make sure they disinfect the bath/pump between clients or you may end up with more problems Not sure of ingredients in Royal Canin but check if it contains grains as this may be contributing -

I brought one of those a few months ago(the beginner one) but discovered it got a hole in it pretty quickly(gsd)and she was actually trying to eat it rather than tug it so the material was getting more in her back of her mouth hence the holes so quickly -
Groomers Edge Grimeinator shampoo is for the dirtiest, smelliest dogs and works great http://www.clipperworld.com.au/shop/index....at&catId=16

Best Treats For Training - Suggestions?
4 Paws replied to pennyw74's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I have a large snap lock bag in the freezer that I throw anything I come up with so there's always variety.Usually buy things when I see them on special or reduced to clear Can include any of the following cut into small pieces- Kangaroo sausages Kangaroo Steak Beef/Chicken sausages Cheese cabanossi franfurts chicken left over chops/steak If I am going to be out a fair while and wanting to use dry treats I use lamb puffs and dried tuna On a training dvd I have they even suggest using jars of baby food,a few licks equals one treat, would be particuarly good using it for a recall I guess -
we have a lady at our club who has 2 mini poodles doing agility very successfully, they are always competing and doing extremly well
