  1. I have tears in my eyes for Annie. She was beautiful and now that she is pain free and seizure free, she can watch out for her family from above. Although you will never replace her, sharing all the love you have to give with another dog will not be a bad thing. I'm sure it will help Annie's buddy's pain and loneliness. I wish you well, Tracey.
  2. I'm so sorry you had to make this very difficult decision to let your boy go, KitKat. As he watches over you from above, he will know it was because of your love for him that you were able to do this unselfish act. Until you meet again, rest in peace little Harm.
  3. alsynor, that was beautiful, I have goosebumps from it. He was a handsome boy - may your memories of him live forever. Rest in Peace little man.
  4. Kojak, I won't forgive you for making me cry on Christmas night. I once had a GSD named Jessie too and the memory of her came flooding back. There is no doubt that if there is a Rainbow Bridge, Jessie is waiting for you. It is a shame the way she went but without your love and patience she would not have had the life she deserved. Look after your loved ones, Angel Jessie.
  5. sheltielover, I really got excited when I read your first updated and just as quickly was upset by your second update. For starters, never second guess yourself because your decision was based on Annie's best interests. I am sending prayers that she will pull through. Please let us know how she goes. :p
  6. Merry Christmas beautiful Brax. You are trully a Christmas angel!
  7. I use Drontal tablets for all worms (except heartworm) and have never had a problem. It's a "once every 3 months" tablet which I put in their meal and they're none the wiser!
  8. eridor, look here http://forums.dogzonline.com.au/index.php?...44003&hl=recipe and here http://forums.dogzonline.com.au/index.php?...42116&hl=recipe and here http://forums.dogzonline.com.au/index.php?...topic=36392&hl=
  9. Although I have never heard of an epileptologist before, I hope you plan to stick around on DOL so we can pick YOUR brain on the subject Good luck with it!
  10. When our boy, Lujan, was having siezures, our vet told us they are more susceptible to them when they are excited ie: when they're having dinner - and that fitted perfectly with ours. Isn't it funny how they are all so different? All Casper's ones that I was present for occured while he was walking around, then he'd start his sz and fall over! Has anyone's dog had a sz while out of the house? eg at the park or going for a walk or playing? All of Casper's 7 sz occured at home.
  11. I'm very sorry for your loss ;) It's bad enough dealing with one loss, how does one do it with two?
  12. cleo, what condition are your dogs in? Are they healthy, shiny coats, clear ears, eyes and nose, healthy stools, etc? If all your answers to the above are positive, why would you want to change their diet? Just curious!
  13. Sheltielover, I have not heard of this vet or the surgery. Would you consider writing your post on the canine-epilepsy site? I reckon you'd get some answers there, especially from those in the States who may have heard of it. I would not try this on Casper at this point as his seizures are so far under very good control with limited meds (touch wood). Thank you for sharing this info, I'll be interested to see what other comments you get.
  14. I have tears in my eyes, Kayla was a beautiful girl. I am very sorry for your loss.
  15. Could someone with a wonderful vet please ship them down to me? Soon after I arrived in Perth, I took Casper to the vet nearby for the first time to get a renewal of his epilepsy meds and discuss some things (diet, allergies, runny tummy)...throughout this whole discussion, she didn't so much as look in his direction. Brand new patient and she didn't bother checking him out. Her only advice about his tummy was to feed him rice and chicken. I can see I'm going to have to do a little more hunting!
  16. I asked my vet about titre testing and she told me to go to Murdoch University (here in Perth). I phoned them up and they had no clue what I was talking about. So, while we're on the subject, would anyone know where to get titre tests in WA, south of the river? Thanks!
  17. How awful. I am so sorry you lost your little one. Rest in peace little one and keep an eye on your loved ones who cry for you.
  18. Sonny, I am very sorry to hear about your pup. Your vet's suggestion of keeping a diary is spot on. Write down what the weather is doing, what he's eaten, any meds (like de-fleaing, deworming, etc), how much activity he's had, treats he's eaten, etc. It might just help you find a trigger if your dog continues to seize. As Staffy-Lover said, do join the epil-k9 list and read other people's comments and stories on the forum. Let us know how you go, same with you, Sheltielover and Staffy-Lover and anyone else with epi dogs. It helps to know how this disease is being treated in Aus. Hugs to all of you
  19. What is Squirt and where do you get it from? I also use Malaseb for allergies but wouldn't mind mixing it with something else.
  20. Yay Bondi! That's great news! Bet you've never been so pleased to see dog poo before! She can only get better now!
  21. Poor Bondi Does she have an appetite at all? Did the vet tell you what to feed her? A while back someone's dog I knew was constipated and the vet said to feed him PAL tin food to make him go toilet. It might be worth trying if she's eating? Also, there was a thread a day or two ago about the bottled flavoured water you get for dogs from the supermarket. They come in beef and chicken flavour and some DOLers reckon they use it to hydrate their dogs, especially at shows, etc. Does anyone else have thoughts on these suggestions? If you decide to try something, I'd ask the vet if it's ok. to Bondi with her pink bandage.
  22. It seems plenty people will not be having a good Christmas. I'm sorry for all those that have lost loved ones, human or furry.
  23. Good ol' Bondi So she stayed at the vet's last night for nothing! Will be checking back for updates...
  24. Poor baby girl. Here's hoping she'll be fine tomorrow. You'll be a wreck by tomorrow - try not to worry if there's nothing to worry about.
