I’d suggest you keep him registered as a shepherd x.

I’m in SA and I adopted a puppy (also in SA) some years ago. She was advertised as a fox terrier x but she is almost certainly a kelpie x dingo. I keep her registered as she was listed on her birth certificate. Although many people stop us on walks and ask if she’s a dingo, I’ve never had any probs. I know many official sites say you have to have them dna tested, but I’d say that’s a problem only for pure dingos. Just saying she had many litter mates who were also adopted instate. Maybe get in touch with some SA vets to ask advice?
