What Every Dog Owner Fears
2tollers replied to Joey Rocks My World's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I've been through the same thing a couple of times over the years. Each time the news is devistating. It's so hard being left with the decision of weather to have them PTS or try treatment especially on an older dog. I'm sure Jenna would trust any decision you made for her and would know you'd do what's best. All the best. I'll be thinking of you. Sharon -
Jenny, When will you know about Saturday? Clover, How did you go on Sunday?
-
I've got 2 Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers, Todd, who'll be running at the comp and Lilli who won't be because all she wants to do is chase the other dogs with the balls. I'll probably have Lilli with me on Saturday too. What dogs do you have?
-
Dali, It would be good to meet you. Do you live around Ballarat.
-
It's at Ballarat in Victoria Park.

I was just wondering if there were any DOLer's coming to Ballarat for the Flyball on Saturday.

Ballarat Obendience Trial (double)

Todd and I were there and bombed out again in the sit/drop stays. I'm afraid he just wants to be close to his mum. Never mind. Sparty did really well. No trialitis for her today. -
Thanks for all that info TD and TJ. I guess we'll just wait and see what happens. The loose balls could be a problem for Todd because at the moment he's trying to fit as many balls into his mouth as he can (only 1 so far) and he thinks they are all his. I might try leaving a few around at training.

I was hoping to see your dogs run Toilet Duck. Bugger Hopefully another time. Todd doesn't bark at the club flyball and I don't think he will at a comp. I hope he's like your 2 and just focuses of the ball. Thanks

Hi My dog, Todd, is entered into his first Flyball Comp at Dandenong. I was just wondering how your dogs coped with their first comp. Was the noise too much of a distraction? Or did all of the hyped up dogs make your dog nervous? I've never been to a competition so I'm just wondering what to expect. I know I'll be a nervous wreck but I'm wondering how Todd will go. Thanks

Todd and I are going to make fools of ourselves again. At least I'm pretty sure he won't pee in the ring. Pippi and Todd seemed to get on after the initial intro's. I'm sure she'll enjoy herself. -
Glad I didn't come. Doesn't sound good. It's all going to come together one of these days. Maybe Ballarat.

Good one Sparty. Bloody boys.
-
What a terrible experience for you. I'm so sorry. RIP Kuda

Thanks for the web site GOM. I can't read it though.

I post the link when i get home :D Yes please. They look great.

Todd gets bored with obedience too and every time we take a break from it he comes back better than ever. He's doing flyball as well just to have some fun at the club.
-
I'm a beginner at all of this and I'm finding everyone has advice, some good and some crap. I think we now our own dogs best. We just need a little more self confidence.
-
What a bummer Jenny. Sparty is going to get it all together on the one day very soon. He looked sooo good the other night.
-
Thanks for all of that Toilet Duck. I'll check them out.

That is just so sad. Poor little thing. RIP Cadbury

I had the same problem with my mum and her dog. I managed to get her to put a big container in the fridge and instead of feeding the dog throughout the day she put the food into the bowl. She was surprised how much was there and did endeavour to feed him less during the day. It took quite a bit of work to even get her to try the bowl thing. I think the main thing that got through to her was making her realise that most wild animals don't eat all day and are not designed to and that it is actually very good for them to fast occassionally. Some people just love their pets so much they can't say no.

Hi Clover I'll have to get you to show me how the turn is done.
-
All the advice makes good sense once you hear it and think about it. Thanks everyone. How do you all warm up and cool down? Would you just trot around for a bit as the warm up and then a brisk walk for the cool down?
-
I love having him off lead when I can. The trouble is there aren't too many places to do it. With the warmer weather coming the dogs get to go for a swim in our neighbours dam and probably in Sparty's dam too. Thanks for your help.
