  1. Always on the menu in the Nuthouse $2.60 a box from Preston market gets you 38 frames
  2. Hi Becks, you make an excellent point with the anti-flea treatment. Now on to more important issues... since you are in the UK and obviously devoted to the Monarchy I am wondering if you wake up an sing "God save the Queen" or if you secretly hum "Deutschland uber alles" when MI5 and MI6 are busy working to hush up the latest Lady Di scandal Documentary? :D On a serious note, during WW1 the Brits, in effort to show how "patriotic" they were started to wantonly kill all German Breed dogs... and our beloved "Sachs-Coburg" family bebadged themselves as "Windsors" to sound English and not German. Of couse Queen Victoria, the most sacred of Monarchs, loved a mad Prussian... the plot thickens. Remember after WW2 in Australia how the GSD was "banned" until the 60's... and then had to be called the "Alsation"... another propagandist "rebadging" to allow acceptance from a ignorant public. Makes me mad thinking about how superficial people are, and how its the animals that need to suffer. As if they could help it that Churchill stuffed up at Gallipoli and sacrificed "Colonial" Aussies as his cannon-fodder... or that he started the first concentration camps in the Boer War to teach some European Farmers a lesson that he was "number one" - and yes civilians were deliberately starved and let to die in unsanitory conditions because the Dutch, French and other free-thinkers did not fear the red-coat and fought to keep their farms. And all the time fearless Winnie was carrying a German Mauser Pistol as his beloved Side-Arm. Hmmm... Can anyone spell "Hypocrite" ? Ummm that's not even the slightest bit funny, in fact its quite offensive. Now if you were new to this forum, the high horses would have came out, and you would have been abused into next week. So it's acceptable just because we all know you? And as stated, what the hell does it have to do with this original topic? *shakes head*
  3. I know what you're going through. My 3 year old, has two on his ears, and they have been identified as tumours. We don't know yet weather they are the "nasty or not nasty" ones. Kahn's were just how you described Mose's. Hard and when they were aspirated all that emerged was blood We are waiting on results too, so I wish you the very best of luck with Moses and hope it all is ok Zia and the nuthouse
  4. Bingo!!! Preston market is where i get all my meat human and dog. Chicken frames are $2.60 for a box and I get about 25 frames in it. Chicken hearts 2 99 per kg, chicken necks 1 99kg. I get liver, flaps bones, mince, everything there. Very very cheap.
  5. Rom whilst your posting is very valid and very true, it did come across as a tad dictatorial. The title being "Newbies take note". That sounds like an order to me, rather than a suggestion as it could have been. And let us all agree, that it's not always newbies that will challenge the professionals.
  6. Fast him for a day. It won't hurt him and might make him appreciate his food more When you are eating, send him to his bed, or somewhere where he isn't in close proximity. Naughty boy food begging. I'm sure he will be fine My meal times are the same as Persephone's. Food begging isn't tolerated, even from the cat
  7. Try putting their own poop in their holes. Works wonders for mine, they hate their own body waste :D I know it doesn't solve the cause though, but mine tried a few more holes, and gave up when I kept piling them up with their own poop :D
  8. I where possible have all windows open and allow lots of fresh air through. I know you said incense burners make you feel ugh, and they do me as well. But did you mean Oil burners? I have one of them in every room, and use the gels rather than the oils, with the little tea light candles. I find they work great, and you can get the gels and oils, from the Reject Shop, or two dollar shops etc. I also have a spray bottle with Eucalyptus oil and water and spray that around the house regularly. Smells nice. One last thing you could try, is I have a vapouriser, you know for coughs etc? I use that all the time not just when we are sick. You can put eucalyptus or any essential oil you like. It helps breathing easier, and helps allergies, and leaves a great smell in the home
  9. Yep same here sassy. Buckets for my two for washing and rinsing. And you're right we do use a few buckets lol. In the warmer weather, and before water restrictions of course we used the hose with the appropriate attachment Nozzle. The buckets are a bit harder work, but still very effective. The water from the buckets gets thrown on the dead lawn
  10. good points. Anrthramorphism, can be argued in many more forms than training however. If you want to use the squirt bottle, or treats or smacking as an example thats fine but what about other things??? No a dog does not squirt another dog with a bottle, no they don't get treats either in the wild. The list is endless... Dogs don't get groomed in the wild. Dogs don't get toys in the wild. Dogs don't get prepared BARF in the wild. They don't get flea'd, or vaccinated or wormed. They don't have blankies and trampoline beds either. I could go on and on. If we can argue and relate about Anthramorphosising, then lets at least agree on the fact that the points are endless, and just not related to smacking, and training.
  11. Thats right Hesapandabear Sometimes Myszka if it's that bad then you need a professional treatment done. My hubby is a pest control technician, and they do everything within the fenceline of your home, garages, gardens the lot. I know it costs more but it works
  12. Well punter it has Julius on the can and their dry food is the same, so I'm guessing thats the brand? Maybe mine don't get the farts or lots of poops cause I only use the tinned as an additive, to add a bit more flavour and to mix their kibble with. I have a GSD and a Newf Kahn and Merlin
  13. Just getting back to the original topic. I combine the Aldi canned food for my two, along with their raw stuff. I've found it to be fantastic. It's rich, with nice firm chunks of meat. Not everyones choice of course, but it doesn't go through mine, or make them fart. All the higher brand names of dog's food, I've found to go right thought mine. But the Aldi one doesn't. I dunno maybe I'm just lucky
  14. Just a thought shoemonster. I know others have said, to explain to people that you are trying to get her out of this. You might just have to be a little bit firmer with them, and really lay down the law. Something like "Sorry guys but I really need you all to do this and this, because we are doing our very best to stop Molly doing this". Also I love the spray bottle. I think it works a treat, but thats for me. Alot of people I know, have your dilemma about getting to the dog with the bottle in time. Solution? Buy half a dozen Have one in every room if you need too, and two in the main room that visitors sit and pat Molly. Eventually Molly will know the bottle is there for her too see, and mine hate that even more That way you have one at hand quickly and efficiently to give her the squirt at the appropriate time. They are only a couple of dollars from the supermarket, so stocking up is pretty easy Good luck
  15. Hiya Scope, I hope you're feeling a little bit better, and that you do return. Hugs I just wanted to ask one thing. In all this trouble and stress you are going through with your furkids, and more over the GSD, from what you were saying, have you at all in your heart, thought about rehoming her? I'm not talking about rehoming her to, a placid family, with kids, andheaps of other pets, but I mean to someone experienced, in these issues, and with no other dogs, and a suitable home, with someone that can give her one on one? Now the only reason I'm asking is because, you are beating yourself up something CHRONIC!!! You should firstly be proud of working so hard with both of these dogs, and it's plainly obvious that you love them to death Ok so you punched your dog. Not ideal, but yes it happens, and more people do it, than admit it trust me. Amid all this chaos I'm worried about you too. The last thing you need is added stress, and heartache. You've said already that you are doing things tough. Maybe you haven't considered the rehoming alternative, but I just wondered if you had entertained the idea before? If in your heart you have, then maybe its an option to look at, even if it's down the track. You're a good doggy mum, and you're doing it tough. Your babies are lucky to have you. I wish you all the very best, and know that whatever happens you have given it your best. Best wishes and good luck Ziara
  16. To whom am I suppose to be offending? I have people with disabilities within my family Offended? How is that statement of truth offensive? It is an interesting fact, that I'm sure most people aren't aware of. Sharing facts about disabilities I would have thought is the best way to create awareness and understanding. There is nothing in that statement that I see, that could be constrewed as insulting or offensive :D
  17. Interesting fact. If a person with a disability spits, throws or holds food in their mouth, this is classified as inappropriate behaviour or challenging behaviour. yet non disabled people can do it all in the name of possitive food training Next time any of you people that use this method sees a person with a disability behaving inappropriately, think about what message you are sending. I think there is something in that for all of us. Don't you? Now thats a very valid point Troysmum. Never thought of it from that point of view. I can imagine back when my kids were tots and it was bedtime and I spat them a lolly so they would get their little tush's into bed Yes TM's I do believe there is something in that for all of us ;)
  18. Yep shorter walks and no offlead unfortunately One of mine has arthritis and he gets an offleasher about once a fortnight. The rest are onlead. Vet was very specific about this. As someone said all the zoomies, twisting and turning only aggravates it. Don't beat yourself up, you're doing the best you can Good luck to you and Cody
  19. Valid Points ISH. I too personally find it disgusting. Most dogs also as stated will tend to jump for the food, and get to rely it on it rather than focussing on the training. Also the problem of distracting other dogs, can be an issue as well. Some dogs see the food being spit out, and then its, "oh goody food". Also as training is intended to be done at the home as well as the field/walks I couldn't think of anything worse than spitting food around the house to teach a dog. And if one uses that as an effective form of training, how many are spitting food at home as well??? Yuck
  20. LOL!!!! yeah I snore too apparently so does hubby. My son was snoring like an old sow the other night lol..He denied it of course when I told him about it. Both my boofers snore, we are used to it now. We gently nudge with a foot through the night which makes them turn position. This way the snorning usually stops
  21. Your boy is just beautiful. Don't listen to family and friends. At the end of the day he is YOUR dog YOUR responsibility. Desexing him will not hurt his manhood, or doghood in his case. He will not want to roam, and the dangers of cancer and the like will be diminished, in the case of testicular cancer, gone altogether, cause so will his testicles Do what you think is right. Think of the unwanted puppies and dogs in shelters that are euthanased each day because of accidental matings, and resulting puppies He will be just as lovely, and happy as he is now, but all the better off. Good luck with your decision
  22. So very sorry for your loss RIP Stewie
  23. To a degree, I agree with you Zia. But as you will have read here, there's no need to "hang out their feeding" until after yours. All you simply need to do is eat something in front of them before they are given their meal, if you wish to be demonstrative in this area. Very true Erny but as others have stated. It HAS to be something better than a dry ol cracker :p At least lets make it a Tim Tam lol But it is a good idea, and to be honest I didn't think of that
