Bilateral Luxating Patellas And Hip Dysplasia
~Myschafis~ replied to mygirlruby's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Linny i really don't think this is appropriate for this board, maybe PM her in private instead. Mygirlruby, best of luck with your baby, no dog deserves to go through that pain and trauma poor darling, good to see you are doing everything you can to help her though I would very seriously recommmend a ethical registered breeder for your next baby (if you intend to get another), things can happen but you can feel safe that they have taken every measure to ensure their dogs don't produce any of the problems your poor girly and many other x breeds including a spaniel x poodle are having Best of luck with it all -

~Myschafis~ replied to ~Myschafis~'s topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Well the furbabies got their first taste of Eagle Pack tonight, woofed it down, they seemed to really enjoy it (though I always mix kibble and yoghurt together) but they didn't turn their nose up at it...I will see whether or not it has any impact on them in other ways... Will be sure to keep you informed -

Another option is put your hand over his muzzle say no and give him something else to play with. He is a puppy so a little bit of common sense needs to be established here, if you dont want things chewed don't leave them lying about for him to chew on them, he doesn't know that its wrong, as he gets older he will grow out of this. The NO does work, everything takes time and you have to be patient, its like trying to teach a baby dropping food on the floor isnt ok, you just cant do it over night, and they arent mentally ready for that sort of punishment, they just don't understand. Puppies mature quickly and he will understand soon enough, just keep up with the 'NO', and he will uderstand. The only thing about this that worries me is he has only just had his vaccination and is still very succetible to parvo etc, personally I wouldn't have them out and about till after their second vaccination. And after that socialising is a must and is a great way to establish better behavior. Getting him used to a lot of people is a good thing, but again with his vaccinations, its better to be safe than sorry. As for mixed messages as long as they aren't hurting him or being too rough this is all fine, he will love the attention. Never ever rub his nose in it!!!!...he will only find other places to do it when you aren't looking and normally in places you cant easily get to either. The way to tackle this one is take him out for frequent toilet breaks, and when he goes out side praise him a lot, when he has to be inside (nighttime etc) put newspaper down, and when he goeso n the newspaper BIG PRAISE, then don't clean it up just put a few sheets of paper over it, he will smell where he has gone before and go there again. If he misses and "go's" somewhere else say no, pick him up and put him down where he was meant to go (newspaper), if you catch him midstream and he finishes on the newspaper HUGE PRAISE, if not dont reprimand just repeat the process till he understands. Those quetions are definatly not silly, and you have to start learning somewhere, once again if you need any mor advice feel free to ask

Do you know if Eagle pack do samples? -
Hi everyone Sorry to bring up another eagle pack thread, there had been plenty of them, I just couldn't find the right information in the other threads. I have decided to try my guys on Eagle Pack since hearing great things about it, so off go's me to the pet store ( not a pet shop) to look for eagle pack, and I find it, and I find about 10 different ones, so now I am confused, I really am not sure which one is better...and what is the difference between holistic and just the normal ones? Thanks for any help mickatie

Skin Condition, Losing Hair On Terrier
~Myschafis~ replied to ~Myschafis~'s topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Miranda - It is a 30 acre property with a lot of sand, there are two dams on the property, there are also stray dpgs that roam around as they please , the house block area (if you could call it that) is around about 10 acres with the dam being very close to the house. As for possums, I don't think there are possums in the area (don't quote me though) Thankyou very much Anne.S I will go looking for that product. -

I already suggested fish oil tablets and she has already bought them and she has already started giving them to him. I will suggest a different vet, I thought it sounded funny to cost that much but wasn't sure. I can post some photos a bit later yes, I really know nothing about westies at all, and I have no idea what breed he is, he sort of looks like and Australian terrier with a tail. He is a happy chappy, hasn't killed his spirit at all. He is fed, dry food with mince/chicken, meaty bones, blended veggies, little bit of oil, eggs once or twice a week, and rice or pasta. We swap his flea treatments around and none are really working, frontline was the worst actually, advantix has been the better so far. That is the problem, the whole property is covored in fleas how would we get rid of them? -

No he wanted to give him monthly injections for the rest of his life, and these injections were quoted over $100 every time just for the injection not the vets time. -

He is on advantix, she has flea bombed the house and his beding gets washed daily, there is also a spray she sprays the house with daily to help reduce fleas in the home, but other than that she can't afford what the vet wants to ddo. -

Yeah sorry forgot to mention, he does, it is a really bad area for fleas with all the sand and living on acerage doesn't help either. She will sit down with him every day and get a knot comb and get rid of every flea she can find and kill it in hot water. poor thing -
Hi Everyone My Nan has a terrier x (PP puppy..don't tell me I know ) and he has a skin problem, it sort of looks like severe flea burn, he is in a lot of discomfort with it but as she is only on the pension she can't afford vet bills or the injections or any of those expensive treatments. Is there anything she can do to help him, different food? Nice shampoos and conditioners? Any ideas?

My oldest is turning 1 in 2 days (time flys) And he still does things now every now and then and I swear its because he is trying to get back at me for something. Just the look on their face after they give you the 'I didn't do it look" straight after comes 'yeah thats right, lock me outside again see what happens' look. Makes me laugh everytime
