Thank you all for your lovely comments. I can't wait for the weather to improve so that I can go outside for more than a few minutes at a time lol Tikira I joined Aussie Photography about a week ago and am finding it a wealth of knowledge with awe inspiring photos. It was the main reason behind buying a new camera lol. Tdierikx I surely am hoping for VERY nice, either way I am sure there will be lots :D Leanne

I bought myself the Canon 600D twin lens kit yesterday along with a 40mm f/2.8 lens. The weather is horrid here today but thankfully I had my faithful model Chaos willing to allow me to shoot him Photos taken using the 40mm lens and my first time ever shooting in manual mode I also tried to get this tiny web with droplets but not sure about my focus with this one Leanne

Nikon D5200 Digital Slr Camera With 18-55mm & 55-300mm Twin Lens K
Ozstar replied to Ozstar's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Thank you for your replies. After spending most of the weekend on google and youtube I ended up buying the Canon 600D and upgraded the lenses. It is all very confusing for the newby but hopefully have made the right choice :) Leanne -
Hi All, I am thinking of upgrading my camera and have been looking at this one nikon d5200 digital slr camera with 18-55mm & 55-300mm twin lens kit I currently have a Sony A500 and while I love my camera it is starting to get a bit old. I also want to go up in lense size as my biggest is 7-210 and thought it may just be easier to upgrade to the Nikon. I would love to hear peoples thought, good or bad :) Leanne

I have debarked several dogs over the years and have one now who is debarked. If you have a dog that is constantly barking and nothing you try is working them I highly recommend debarking. It will depend on how good your vet is and also how quiet you keep your dog after the surgery. It is best not to let them bark for the first few days as scar tissue can affect the surgery and your dog will still bark. I keep mine quiet for at least week and none of mine can be heard. The dog itself has no idea and will continue to bark and howl. I have seen many owners so stressed about their dogs barking and until you have been in the situation it is fine to say debarking is cruel extra but without debarking many dogs would of been put to sleep. Rehoming is not really an option as your are just transferring a problem dog unto someone else who is more than likely to either rehome again or have the dog put down. You will need a statdec signed by a JP stating that you have tried everything else and research your vets, find one who has done this surgery many times and possible speaks to owners of those dogs to make sure they are happy. Do not let anyone tell you that you are a cruel owner, that debarked dogs suffer etc, just tell them to walk in your shoes

7 Year Old Bullmastiff Needs A Home!
Ozstar replied to a topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
What is he like with other dogs/animals and kids? Is he house trained? I may be able to help as we have been looking for an older dog but must get along with the animals we already have. Leanne -
A British Bulldog has a lot of health concerns and are mainly suited to an inside home. I would be concerned about having a BB during summer with no one home. Whippets are great dogs My only concern would be to make sure the pup is very outgoing and does not pick up the shy/timid trait off the older dog. Leanne

There was an add in our local Sunday newspaper stated that they had a show coming up (either tomorrow or next weekend) with an international judge. Would be interesting to have a look at. Also if the judge deemed your dog to fit the standard you could get pedigree papers for your dog at the show. Aussie Bulldogs could also enter the show. Leanne

wow these are fantastic, you are very talented and brave :D Leanne

Contact the state controlling body as it is against ANKC to sell a sick or not completely healthy pup. Leanne

I can't offer you any advice but I wish you all the best. My very first pedigree/show dog was diagnosed with kidney failure at age 7 and past away a few months later (was 15 years ago). Did you buy your dog from a registered breeder? I only ask as the siblings to my boy all had problems at an early age and it may be something you wish to look into. Leanne

These are all good question and you should be writing them down so you can ask the specialist. I would not be stressing to much until you see the specialist, a lot of vets really have no idea what they are talking about and have done more damage than good. while at the specialst ask them if they can recommend a good vet near you as you to not feel comfortable with the vet you had. You have been given some good advise re diet. Wishing you all the best. Leanne
