  1. awww can't wait to see your bubbas Leanne
  2. I have been using evaporated milk now 15 years and have hand raised many pups (most have been other peoples) and topped up pups with never a problem. I helped a friend out a few years ago with their litter, they where using wombaroo, my guys where fatter and healthier than theirs. We both fed the same amount at every few hours. Gloves are a good idea incase you have to do an internal on your bitch or a pup is stuck. Leanne
  3. I have always cut the cords and have never had a problem. When my pups are born I grab them, remove the sac, cut the cord and flick any mucus out. I then check the pup over making sure it is fine and then hand it back to mum. Leanne
  4. Cotton thread to tie off the umblical cord if it bleeds. Beef liver incase of fading puppies (can do a search for the recipe) Protexin Also I would forget the wombaroo and get a few cans of evaporated milk (1 tin of milk to 1 tin of rain water). It is a lot easier, cheaper, lasts for days and better than wombaroo in my opinon. Leanne
  5. I can highly recommend Harry at Hahndorf. He only does 2 pup needles and coron virus as well, he is also cheap for microchipping (also cheaper on everything else as well). He gives a breeder discount and is always there whan you need him. I happily travel to him. Leanne
  6. We only have "local shows" twice a year. SACA Park is 1 1/2 hours away one way. 3 - 4 times a year I will travel 6 - 8 hours one way for a cluster of shows or specialties. Leanne
  7. I buy drontol all wormer 10kg tablet and cut it into quarters, this makes the tablet very small. I then place it inside some mince (my pups are eating mince out of my hand at 3 weeks) and give it to the pup. If you are having problems you can try squashing the tablet to a powder and mixing it in the mince. At 5 weeks the pups get half a tablet each which I either mix in again with mince or just push it down the pups throat. I would wait till the pups are 3 weeks old before worming with a tablet. Leanne
  8. Years ago there was a lot of talk about the liquid killing pups. Majority of breeders that I have spoken to have said that when using the liquid at 2 - 4 weeks found that when they wormed at 8 weeks the pups had heaps of worms. I have used tablets for about 6 years now and have never seen any worms, my pups have never looked wormy either. They normally end up spitting the stuff out or vomiting it back up. With a tablet it is easy as it is very small and I mix it in with a small bit of mince. The pups never know they have had a tablet. Leanne
  9. All these guys do if flying within Australia is book the flight, have a crate waiting at the airport (if you are hiring a crate) and will pick up from your place for extra money but again pup is put in the crate and that is it. I am not saying they are bad as I always use dogtainers but if you are the one taking the pup to the airport then they never even see the dog in question. Airline staff can not open a crate and give the dogs water. We ourselves have made it like this as a few dogs have escaped when staff have tried to do this. It is getting so airports do not want to take in dogs anymore and I am sure that it will not be long that no dog will be able to fly unless you are on the flight too. I am not saying that what is happening is fine but it is up to us to make sure that any animal is safe and secure not airline staff. Leanne
  10. Did you take photos? That would of been so wonderful to see. I love seeing kids faces light up. Leanne
  11. My pups start on chicken necks at 4 weeks, by 8 weeks they are eating chicken frames cut ib half. Leanne
  12. I worm mine at 3 weeks then again at 5 weeks with a tablet. I used to use the liquid and found that it didn't work. At 9 weeks and then every month after I use advocate. Leanne
  13. I love seeing the smiles on the new owners faces and love that is glowing in their eyes. It is just so heart warming to know that there are people out there that will love your babies as much as you do and appreciate everything that you have done. It is also rewarding to know that the pup that I have chosen for them is the right pup. I have been so lucky in the past to have found such wonderful families for babies. Leanne
  14. I wish that was all half the dogs around my area did. There is no way I can walk my guys anywhere around my area as many dogs are not shut in and will attack my guys and of course my guys are to blame for their dogs rushing and attacking I now have to load them up in shifts and take them to the park or river. It would be so much easier just to go for a walk Leanne
  15. I also give my girls folate tablets. I start about a month before they are due in season and give 1 tablet (500mg) everyday. I also use advocate and make sure the girls are done prior to mating. I don't like to give my girls any chemicals once they have been mated. I don't change my girls to puppy as they are fed Eagle Pack Power which is great for pregnant and lactating bitches. Leanne
  16. People often ask me why I breed, why do I go through all the heartache, loss of sleep, loss of money. Well this is why - a letter from one of my recent puppy buyers. Hi Leanne and family, Firstly thank you so much for allowing my family to love the wonderful little dog, Fudge.” He is everything we had hoped for only better and your professionalism as a breeder is impeccable. We have told everyone we see how unbelievably clean and loved both your kennels and your dogs are and how great your puppy package was and appreciated. We appreciate your knowledge and guidance when we picked him up. Enough of the gush but I had to let you know that we are very impressed. “Fudge” has settled in very well and has now had a change of batteries for the “Eveready Energizer bunny variety!” Lol. Yes I know you told us that. Right now he is having his nightly “skitz” and he is so funny. Yesterday his ears changed and got the “Stafford” crease in them. He has only had about 4 “accidents” and is toilet training well. He loves his toys especially his giant yellow duck that he is chewing right now. We are teaching him not to chew us so hard with his bloody sharp baby teeth!!! Ouch! He now only licks thank god but it is still a bit of a worry during his ‘skitz’ times. It is amazing just watching him discover new things. We just sit and watch and are continually captivated by his innocence. He is so strong already and it is so amazing how quickly he is changing everyday. He now plays for about an hour and a half straight and each time a little faster and adventurous. “Fudge” has no fear and loves to leap, much to our worry. So this means keeping a constant watch on him. So far we have nearly worn out Louise’s camera and we have hundreds of photos of nearly every thing that has made us go “awwww.” I have sent some photo’s for you to keep track on how he is going. Sadly he sleeps in our bed but we are used to that…. I’ll personally be glad when he stops waking up at 2.00am for a “play” but he is so cute so we tolerate it gladly. The first night he was a bit unsettled so he slept on and off on my chest on the lounge till 4.00am. I think he liked the sound of my heartbeat or something like that. He is so faithful and never lets us out of his sight. I love that and that was what I was hoping for. That was what I missed when lost “Bozley”. Please let me know what I have to do for this puppy show starting with the date and place so I can see what I can do to have our little dynamo ready to show what the “Ozstar” kennel is all about…. J Enough of the dribble because we love him so much I will go on all night otherwise. We just simply want to say, from all of us here, a very, very sincere……………………THANK YOU
  17. I never feed my babies the day they are flying out. Vomiting can cause dehydration very quickly, empty stomach means nothing to vomit. My 2 babies flew out today and arrived safe and sound. Frozen hot water bottles are a good idea Leanne
  18. I have 2 pups flying out tomorrow, 1 to Darwin and 1 to New Castle via Brisbane (from Adelaide). I have them booked on the earliest flights possible (going to be very bleary eyed tomorrow). I do worry about the 1 going To New Castle as it is a 2 hour stop over in Brisbane, but I plaster the crate with signs saying "do not leave me in the sun" and "please give me water". I also put a frozen water bottle in the crate to give the pup condensation(sp) to lick. It is always a worry when flying pups especially in summer and will be a wreck till they ring me and tell me she is OK. Sorry to hear about your baby. Leanne
  19. WOOHOOOO so happy for you and keeping everything crossed that all goes well. will these be Sugar babies? ;) Leanne
  20. My vet only charges $25 for anyone and minus 10% for breeders Leanne
  21. [email protected] her name is Lexie, I think you have to register with them but that is all You now get 2 small sample packs (about 2 feeds in each depending on the breed you have), brouchers and a toy (this time was a poop scoop) all in a bag. I add more toys/treats etc to my packs which you can pick up cheap from the $2 shops. I have had puppy packs from Royal Canin (crap) and Pro Plan in the past and have found Eagle Pack to be the best, I also like their range of dry foods and my dogs do really well on it and don't need much each feed. Leanne
  22. I have been using Eagle Pack for a few years now and think it is great for my dogs. I feed my adults on Eagle Pack Power and have had the biggest, healthiest pups ever. I ordered my puppy packs and they arrived 3 days later. The packs are very good compared to some others I have seen. The person you email for the packs is wonderfull and very easy to get along with. They never ask any questions about how much of their product you are using or ask for proof. Leanne
  23. From the sounds of this then the Choc girl is more what you are after. She has improved on her fathers coat and tail set. What I would be looking at is what is around to help compliment the faults of these pups, ie top lines, light eyes etc and which is easier to breed out. To me attitude also plays a big part in what I choose, a shy reserved pup is harder to show. I would be writing a list of all the good and bad points of each pup, looking at what is easier to fix and then which one comes out in front. Also knowing the lines behind the parents helps and how they matured from pups. It is a tough choice and one I have been going through with my last litter, 2 girls stand out but are both very different from each other. Leanne
  24. It is not law here in SA either but I do all my pups. Leanne
  25. I have had a bitch mate on day 4 before. I also have one girl who is a real hussy and will mate from day 1 but will not ovulate till day 12-14. If you are doing an AI you should be doing progesterone test from day 3 onwards (so my vets says). Leanne
