  1. Does anyone know who the boxer was that got BIG Sat PM show? Leanne
  2. As mentioned above keep her and baby warm with lots of clean bedding, possible a heater near them at night (depending on the weather)and if you can put them in a large box or similar ( blow up ring pools are good, cheap and easy to clean) so baby can not roam to far. As she only had the 1 pup try not to over feed her as she will make to much milk. Also check her teats for any lumps as this is a sign of mastitis (common in small litters). Mum should do all the work for the first few weeks and you will only need to keep an eye on her and that bubs is feeding well, gaining weight and that mum is toileting baby. What a shock it must of been and very lucky that she did not have problems being so young and with only 1 baby. Leanne
  3. I would be very hesitant about making your final payment. I would want to see photos first of my pup and the mother. By 6-10 weeks she should have a good idea of which pup is yours. I send my buyers updates every few days once the pups are about 4 weeks old (weekly before that) letting know what the pups are doing and photos of all the pups. The pups grow so fast and learn new experiences every day. I personally feel this breeder has been very rude, within the 4 weeks since you paid your deposit she should of sent photos and contacted you regarding receiving your payment. Leanne
  4. Here is my gorgeous Basset Hound Gemma, she will be 11 mid year and is blind and deaf. Leanne
  5. Today's weather report for Naracoorte is 29 Sat with possible showers and 25 Sun clearing showers. Do they have showers on the grounds, it has been years since I have been Naracoorte and first time camping there? Leanne
  6. I am watching the weather at the moment and it keeps changing. I don't show if its hot and can't be bothered if its raining, especially as I am camping. Leanne
  7. As the title says. It will be my baby Raven's first shows and my first shows since Oct last year. I am also camping so should be interesting Leanne
  8. I bought mine from the dog shop at SACA. Leanne
  9. My vet is about 45 mins away, can get there quicker when need to He is fantastic and trusts breeders instincts, he is also one of the cheapest for c-section that I have seen in a long time. He is also aquis accredited which makes it easier when sending pups overseas. Leanne
  10. Sounding good so far, not long to go till you know for sure. Leanne
  11. I had a girl they lived for the last 8 days of her pregnancy on only nutrigel, if she tried to eat she would just vomit it back up. She ended up having 12 pups all of really good weights that you would expect for a litter half that size. She was so skinny and I kept waiting for the RSPCA to come and get me. As soon as she finished whelping she ate 1kg chicken mince mixed with dry and had put 3 kgs back on within 48 hours. As soon as her bowl was empty she was looking for more It can be stressing on you but unless she is unwell I would not worry. Leanne
  12. It is very normal for some girls to go off their food around this time especially if she has a belly full and not much stomach room. Try giving her different things ie chicken necks, dry food mixed with tin cat food, cat dry food etc. You may find she will eat some now and then refuse to touch it again. When my girls are eating less I supplement them with nutrigel a few times a day, it is fantastic stuff. Your girl may look very skinny by the time she has whelped but they normally put the weight back on very quickly once the pups are out and there is room again. My pups have always been a very good weight even if the girls have barely eaten for last few weeks. While your girl is still happy in her self I would not worry. Leanne
  13. ANKC will not allow us to hand over any puppy that is not 100% I understand that it is hard for you not knowing what is going on but it is also hard on the breeder. Remember that the breeder has put everything into these pups for the past 8 weeks. I often miss messages and calls on my phone especially if I am not in the house at the time. Give them a call today and ask how the pup is, if it is still unwell ask for a vet report. It is far better to wait for the pup to be 100% healthy than take home a sick pup and then try to explain to the kids why the pup died. Leanne
  14. Don't beat yourself up. Breeding is extremely hard and can take so much out of you. The fact that her water hadn't broken and she was not actively pushing constantly would have made me think to just watch her and see how she goes. My last 2 litters where not the best. Storm had an elective c-section, only 3 out of 6 pups alive. Scarlet started well but after pushing with no progress was rushed to the vets, 5 pups and all alive after a lot of work on them (thought I was only bringing 2 home). Scarlet ended up having to have 2 more ops within the next 7 days and I almost lost her The first few weeks after having the pups was very touch and go with Scarlet not that you would notices it now Spoil Stubbs and Ginger and try again in a years time, hopefully things will go better If you every want a hand with whelping or just someone to back up your feelings give me a call, I am more than happy to help. Leanne
  15. I always state that I am registered with the ANKC and a member of DogsSA and related breed clubs. Leanne
  16. I use egg cup foam as it is good for the babies when learning to walk. I put it inside a queen sized quilt cover and wrap it over a few times. I find that by wrapping it in the quilt cover the foam stays dry. Once the babies are walking I put a smaller piece of foam in the box for sleeping on and the rest is newspaper for doing their business on. I clean the foam by soaking it in a delete solution and leaving it out to dry, only takes a few hours in this weather. Leanne
  17. Lolapalooza I am so sorry to read your nightmare, I know how much this litter meant to you I hope that Mr Stubbs turns out to be everything you could imagine and I am glad that Ginger is OK. Think I would be changing vets though :D Gorgeous pics os Mr Stubbs, can't wait for cuddles at a show Leanne
  18. I prefer to have the foam incase mum steps on the pups getting in and out of the box (mine always seem to). At least with the foam there is some give when the pups are step on. My first litter I had newspaper and vet bed, mum stepped on a pup and broke its back leg, pup ended up with nerve damage in that leg. Never again. Leanne
  19. Once the pups have all been born I put in egg cup foam cut to size and placed inside a quilt cover (can normally wrapped it around a couple times. Quilt covers can be picked up cheap from op shops. In winter time I put a layer of sherpa on top but I seem to always have summer babies I have 2 peices of foam, 1 full size of box and 1 half size of box for when the pups are a few weeks old and they then get half bedding and half newspaper. Leanne
  20. Storm still toilets Flame and she is 1 Leanne
  21. I do it this way as well. Leanne
  22. I have just bought myself a 05 VZ wagon and it is fantastic. Tows the dog trailer really well. I also have a triton dual cab with canopy which is great if I am camping at dog shows etc for the extra room but is to big just to drive around town/shopping etc. I use the triton when I take the dogs down the river as I don't want wet dogs in my new car Leanne
  23. I start feeding my guys around the 3-4 week mark using Eagle Pack Puppy and have always had solid poohs. Leanne
  24. Yes I read this. Must get one as the biggest head is the most important point in our breed Leanne
  25. The bitch I kept from my litter last year was the biggest in the litter (not the reason why I kept her), she is now 1 year old and is in the lower range of standard height (will not grow any more in height). In my last litter the biggest pup born ended up being the smallest at 8 weeks. My first litter many years ago the runt of the litter ended up going an inch of height. Leanne
