I prefer emails first with follow ups via phone. I am hopeless at losing names etc so best to keep it all on my comp, plus I can google them. You would be surprised at what comes up sometimes Leanne

Hi All, Thought I would share a few pics I took on the weekend at my sons motocross meet. My camera is not the best but thought these pics look OK. Leanne

All my pups are sold on limited register unless I know the person etc. My puppy owners sign a form stated that they understand about the limited register and the pup is to be desexed. It is up to the breeder to explain this to the new owners and the new owners to ask questions if they don't understand. I have had a couple owners come back when the pups where 6 months old asking about showing, but once going to a show and seeing how competitive it gets they soon changed their minds When looking for a pup you need to be upfront with the breeders explaining if you want to show or just a pet. The majority of the GP are good but you do come across the odd ones every now and again. A couple weeks ago at a show an elderly couple where walking 3 aging Border Collies on loose leads , they stopped right in front of the assembly area and their dogs where blocking the entrance to the ring. The couple then had the nerve to say how aggresive the Rott's (and handlers) where as handlers where trying to get their dogs in and out of the ring I have no problems with the GP bringing their dogs to shows, but please have some consideration for the exhibitors, don't walk your dogs on loose leads where they can jump on others dogs, dont block walk ways to rings and don't let your dog put its nose into crates, trolleys etc Leanne

I personally would not use Eukanuba or Hills Science, to me they are just over priced low quality dry foods. Royal Canin has a dry food designed specifically for Chi's Royal Canin - Breed - Chihuahua 28 - Adult Chihuahua 28 has been precisely formulated to meet the exact individual needs of the Chihuahua breed. Chihuahua 28 entices a fussy appetite and helps reduce volume and odour of stools. The exclusively shaped kibble has been tailor made to the size, shape and texture to compliment the Chihuahua's micro jaw and also helps prevent development of tartar. Leanne

Hi Rosered, If you have a green tinge discharge I would be taking her to the vet to have her checked out. Normally the plug is a clear to pink colour. Green can mean that the pups are stressed. Leanne

A good way to tell when she is close to labour is by checking her stools Normally a bitch will get black tar looking poos about 12 hours from labour. I have always used this as a good indications. Wishing you and pearl all the best. Leanne

What Don't Most People Know About Your Breed?
Ozstar replied to RallyValley's topic in General Dog Discussion
French Bulldogs NO it is not a Pug X No it is not a pig just cause it sound like one No it is not a rabbit with those ears. and NO if you kick it up the but its face will not pop out Leanne -
A heat pad may be fine in summer but not in winter as the air around the pups is cold. I have used heat pads, heated box and heat lamp and much prefer the heat lamp. My OH made an ajustable stand so that I can lower or raise the lamp, I place the lamp over one corner of the box that way mum and babies can move away if to hot. Sorry your girl is empty. Wishing you all the best on her next season. Leanne

Here is a pic of Jack, he may look black but has about 12 brindle hairs that you can only see in the sun light. On his papers he is classed as a brindle and white (has a few white hairs on his chest). This is his daughter who has about the same amount of brindling, she is also a brindle and white. Just because pups may be listed as brindle does not mean that they aren't mainly black. Leanne

I have better pics of just the box if you need more. I used white melamine (sp) as it is easy to wipe clean. Bunnings will cut it all to size for you. I have had about 6 litters in it and it still looks new. It is heavy and I have put wheels on one end so that it is easier to move around. Leanne

My OH made mine and it cost under $100. It is 1200 x 1200, has anti chew rails etc. For heating I would suggest a pig grow light which also cost under $100. Works out a lot cheaper. Leanne

Will be there on the Monday with my baby Frenchie. Leanne

I have been breeding for 16 years now and also help out with many other breeders litters. I have assisted in all of them (done everything for the pups) and have never had a problem with mum bonding with her pups. I fully agree with this. I have heard of to many litters/pups lost by just standing back. With a c-section I have found if the bitch goes into labour first it helps better with the bonding. As said each to their own and different breeds whelp a lot easier than some. What works best for you and your bitch is what you do Leanne
-
I think it depends on the breed that you have. I have noticed that more breeds in group 3 and 5 whelp easier by themselves with little assistance. I am very hands on, take the pup, break the sack, cut the cord, flick and rub down, weigh the pup and then give it to mum. I also pup the pups in a basket when she starts pushing out the next pup. Hi All, I was wondering if someone could make me a new sig please and a larger version for my website. I love my old one but would like to have one for the Frenchies. It doesn't need any writing on it. Thanks in advance. Leanne

At 3 weeks it is fine to start to wean them. 9 pups is a lot for a little cavie mum and even if they only have 1 or 2 feeds a day it will help her. I have had a pups fully weaned by 3 weeks as mum ran out of milk. Leanne

I also give calcium in between pups and oxy if she is pushing and nothing happening. If she is taking a long time in between pups (no longer than 3 hours for me) or a pup is still born I would rather go to the vets for a c-section than bugger around. I have a great vet who is cheap and it is not worth risking the bitch or the pups for a few hundred dollars. If you are happy with what she has produced and is a great mother then I would breed her again but have my vet on stand by just in case. Leanne

We go camping a few times a year and always go camping with friends at Easter. Chaos my red Stafford is off lead as he will not leave my side unless he goes in the boat. This year will be Lilly's first time and as she is only a baby she will stay on a lead or in the puppy pen. They both will sleep in the tent at night. I have taken Bassets camping before and they have either stayed on lead or a puppy pen. Leanne

Once at a show while showing an Alaskan Malamute my bra broke, couldn't find anything to fix it with and as I am large in that department it was not an option to go without it. Managed to find a large bandage in my medical kit and strapped the girls down as best as I could. Needless to say the bandage did not do a very good job and people running behind me had to watch out for the back swing I did however win BIS that day, don't ask me how . Now I always pack a spare bra Thank god there was no photos or videos. Leanne

I will be there on Tuesday with the Frenchie, don't think I will do Wed with the Staffords as I only have 1 now and am thinking of having him desexed. They are in group 5, you will need to contact them, ages ago I showed a German Pinscher (theonly one) and they put her in the wrong group. Took me ages to change it. Any breeds not listed are normally put in on Friday. Leanne
