1 can of evaporated milk to 1 can of cooled boiled water. This can last up to 5 days in the fridge. I have been using this for over 10 years and have always had fat healthy babies and is easy to make at 2am in the morning Leanne

Does anyone know if Honest Kitchen foods are available in Australia. Leanne

Not sure what it is like in the city. I live at Murray Bridge (3/4 hour via freeway from Adelaide) and have a permit for 6 dogs. I live in the town on 1/2 an acre and the permit was easy to get but that was 15 years ago. I have an inspection every 3 years which is very basic and easy to pass. Leanne

Showing a scent hound male when there is bitch's right in is impossible. I have had to scratch my male Basset Hounds in the past because of it. Personally I don't show my girls when they are in season, most of the time they have their heads and tails down and generally do not look happy. I also hate the look of a short coated bitch in season. Leanne

There is a breeder (uses the term loosely) of AST in SA that I have seen a few of that have bad mouths and some have skin issues, most of them have been blue or blue fawn but that could be because that colour is more popular here. With the blue SBT the majority that I see in SA are shocking conformation wise and I often get emails from people asking if I can help them with skin issues. The majority of blue SBT breeders in SA would not know what a dog show was and are only in it for the money Leanne

Hi Sue, One with a light is best as it can be very hard to see even out in the sun light. Not sure on the magnification ( has been a while) but just keep going to you can see them properly. I only have a cheap kids one and it works well. Leanne

If the mother has any issues be it health or temparment it can be doubled by having her son as the father of these pups. Breeders often do close breedings like these but that is only after years of studing the lines and knowing what problems are there. Leanne

I personally would never send a pup at that time in summer. I would get up for the 4am flight and I also give the pup a drink before leaving me at the airport. Make sure the breeder puts in a frozen water bottle with the pup to keep it cool and it can also lick the condinsation (sp) off the bottle. Leanne

I agree fully. Placing a dog/bitch depends on who it is as to what is in my contracts, but basicly I give the dog to the co-owner. they then show etc the dog and cover all expenses (food/show entries basic vet needs). I pay half of the health testing fees. If it is a bitch, I take 2 pups from the first litter that is sired by a dog that I agree with and then the bitch is signed over fully to the co-owner. If it is a male I take 2 collections or matings and then signed over fully to co-owner. I also have males where the co-owner is happy for them to stay in joint names, can be used by both parties at any time and any outside stud service payments are halved. I can only have a limited number of dogs and have found co-owning to be very valueable in my breeding program. Leanne

Not every litter will produce something that you think is of high enough quality to continue on with, but in saying that my aim for doing the breeding in the first place is for something for myself. I am also happy to go co-owner or lease to another breeder, but make sure that you have everything in writing before doing so. I am also happy to give a dog (papers retained by me for breeding with later on) to family or a very close friend. I don't co-own to newbies (never had a show dog before) as I have been bitten before. Leanne

I get all mine quilt covers from op shops, normally cost $2-$4, they wash easy and dry quickly. Leanne

I use the eggcup foam (bumpy) in the box. I have a piece that fits the whole box and another that does half the box. I wrap the foam in a qs quilt cover (place foam inside and wrap cover over a couple times), in winter I also place a piece of sherpa/vet bed over the top (in summer I find the quilt cover is enough). When the pups are mobile I use the half foam for bedding and newspaper for the rest of the box. I have never had a bitch dig/rip up the foam yet. Leanne

Do You Think It Is Cruel /neglectful
Ozstar replied to Baileys mum's topic in General Dog Discussion
I don't walk my dogs around my neighbourhood any more as there are far to many uncontrolled dogs and owners. I live on an acre and my guys get plenty of stimulation, be it hunting down a lizard sent, playing ball, show/ob training etc. Every now and again I will take them to the off leash park if there is no one else there. My dogs do a lot of this with us such as going down the river for a swim in summer, fishing in the boat, going to markets etc. I do feel sorry for dogs that are just left outside and have no interaction with their owners. Pork Pies Or Lies The General Public Tell Us
Ozstar replied to freundhund's topic in General Dog Discussion
I always get told that I am cruel to my dogs and should not be allowed to own dogs as they are in crates, mind you the door to the crates are open and they come and go as they please during the day. Leanne -
I have used this is the past with great success. Leanne

When it is hot I use just a quilt cover wrapped over the foam mat for bedding, I find this is cooler the vet bed etc. I also have large ice bricks that I wrap in a hand towel and place in the box. I had 2 litters this time last year and the pups loved the frozen bricks. The pups will crawl away if they get to cold. If you have a large litter place a couple of ice bricks in the box. Wishing you all the best. Leanne

Contact the Vic and NSW Frenchy clubs and leave your details. Also have a look on mature dogs as some time you can pick up an older dog for $1500 - $2000. There are so many people out there that want a Frenchy but want it cheaper or free. Leanne

I don't know much about Japanese but Germans can be very barky/yappy. From what I have seen of Japanese they can be reserved around strangers. Germans coat is fairly easy to maintain, doesn't tangle like a lot of long hair breeds but you will have problems with prickles etc and daily grooming will be required. Most Germans are very laid back but you can get a hypo one every now and again. The best thing to do is go to a dog show and personally meet both the breeds. Leanne

I transfer all my pups over into the new owners name and the majority of them are not members, this is mainly limited register so not sure if that makes a difference. The OP only needs to be a member to show or compete is OB/AG etc. Leanne

Whats The Best Gossip You Heard About Yourself Or Your Dogs?

My cousin and I get the same thing, either we are lesbians or we are sisters.....maybe we are lesbian sisters look out Jerry Springer here we come Many years ago I had a Frenchy that yelped then callapsed at ring side, he was back up within 30secs but it scared the crap out of me so straight off to the vets. After blood test we found out he was bitten by a wasp. By the time I got home (about 2 hours after this happended) I had so many emails asking if my dog was ok after his fit, apparently he was convulsing and frothing I have had a breeder ring me and threaten to kill me and my dogs, she would also take out adds in the paper stating not to buy a pup from me Some people have nothing better to do with their lives.
