  1. I am not sure how you can know they are sub standard unless you are seeing through the judges eyes or feeling the dog with the judge's hands. I know a lot of decisions I see will never ever make sense to me but I take it all with a grain of salt now and show for social reasons only. Bit sad that you get called sour grapes for asking your questions. Comments like that are unnecessary.
  2. FLuids should not be needed for healthy dogs who are having minor procedures. My young healthy dog had been allowed to drink 2 hours prior to having a superficial cyst removed, and was actually home again 2 hours afterwards and I discovered I had been charged $78 for IV fluids. My boy did not drink anything at all until the next day!
  3. Perhaps if the staff were to come and reply to your post they might say they are sorely disappointed by some of their clientele and would never recommend them as customers. I have been to Craigieburn several times and have always been impressed by their system for managing customers and also by their vets.
  4. Did we really need to hear your "not so generous thoughts"? Why does the reason an old thread was posted in, generate such not so generous thoughts from you? Sometimes old threads are resurrected because they have interesting content. Do we not encourage people to search for old topics before posting new ones?
  5. You are misreading the ad. It does not say anything about buying a puppy for Christmas. Unless you have spoken to this breeder and know the details, why would you change the ad and put words in their mouth and then identify them on a public forum? Why look for the bad when there may not be any?
  6. if you are going to quote someone's ad, best to get it right as it is easy to identify the breeder. The ad actually says Nothing about "must go before Christmas". It is understandable that the price is reduced as the pup grows older, and I am guessing the breeder maybe wants to get the pup settled in a new home prior to the silly season. Makes sense to me. Cant see anything cheesy or disturbing or sad at all
  7. Cut the foot off an old sock.
  8. Ask your vet about TwoCal http://abbottnutrition.com/Products/twocal-hn Not sure if it is OK for dogs, it is a human product. (Having said that, I used it for my sick dog and she loved it).
  9. I picked it - pedigree Gremlin :) Hang on, found a pic..
  10. Oh you can say good Lord instead of good boy

    Crating A Puppy

Thats far too long and will be a miserable life for a pup. Agree with a big external run, with appropriate shelter or secure the yard.
  12. Its nothing to do with Dogs Vic. If the French Bulldog club have an issue with this they should raise it with Troy
  13. Tie it very tightly as low down as possible get someone else to pull it upwards as you tie.. You are cutting off the blood supply so it will shrivel up and drop off in a few days. Some breeders used to use this method to take puppy dogs tails off.
  14. Post the pics up, everyone else does. Just dont post kennel names or id the beeder. Congrats on finding a baby. I would always go for temperament over conformation, even for a show dog. They are a family member foremost. Dont be concerned about her being ten weeks old. it wont make any difference in the long run and not all pups go out the door at 8 weeks for many reasons. Nothing at all to worry about if you are happy with your choice of breeder.
  15. So sad to hear. Dont be hard on yourself, he sounds like he was ready but he stuck around a bit longer for your benefit. What a grand little man he must have been.
  16. Because Pet expos and Pet shops have different purposes. Why would pet shops try and talk you into buying a registered purebred when they have a window full of BYB mutts they are trying to sell? Many breed clubs have Puppy Officers who have details of litters currently available.
  17. That's a worry. Ideally he should go back to the vet clinic and be supervised and given suction. If not possible, ring them back and ask about maybe trying an antihistamine to help dry him up a bit. He may be in pain and stressed, or he may have some trauma to his mouth from the breathing tube that is worrying him. If he stays with you, keep an eye on him overnight as he may be at risk of aspirating if he falls asleep and obstructs his airway. Keep an eye on his breathing and his gum colour.
  18. You do realise that is the real purpose of this forum don't you? Plan B Agree with this and I for one find myself avoiding general as one glance at the topic list and it is mostly rants and vents about off leash dogs and off leash parks and pet shops and oodle ads. Maybe people could stop and think before hitting start new topic and/or do a search first, or think about whether they are really starting a topic that could result in genuine productive discussion rather than just letting off steam about something they saw, did, or experienced that has been posted about several times already in the last two days.
  19. Cooked cabbage flavoured with beef stock cubes. Feed, then stand back!
  20. It would not be due to the clavulox. Why do you have him confined to a small area? I'd expect him to be over the anaesthesia by now, and he will benefit from some gentle exercise. Is the wound healing well? Any redness or signs of infection? The stitches may be pulling and making him a bit unsure about moving too much. Get him back to the vet first thing Monday if you have any concerns.
  21. Clavulox is a common antibiotic - won't cause drowsiness. When did your dog have surgery? Today?
  22. As well as the vet, grab some slipery elm powder (health food shop), and try and get hold of some protexin (online)
  23. So you havent taken her to the vet yet? No improvement after 24 hours with the runs - its time for the vet.
  24. Does she have anything similar anywhere else on her body? Check her bony prominences.
