  1. are you saying you can take your pup to work with you? If so, how does that tie in with the original topic about baby pups being left home alone all day
  2. Some info here http://www.thundershirt.com/Product/Thundershirt.aspx?item_guid=ad60b946-f758-45e2-a589-331dda09637e
  3. My boy was stressing at the odd bang an hour or so ago, trying to climb into my lap. I was sceptical but dug out the thundershirt which I had never really had an opportunity t try before. He seems to like wearing it and when all hell broke loose at 12MN he slept through it. Impressed!
  4. Dogs get sebaceous cysts. I always pop and squeeze, cant resist!
  5. Sorry, I should have suggested calendula tea then..
  6. My girl gets a bit of a rash around her vulva occasionally and I use curash to ease the itch and dry it out. Works wonders. Don't let them give her prophylactic antibiotics. Use them only if there is confirmed infection.
  7. Try using anti dandruff shampoo on the area(Selsun or such), and add some good oil to the diet (if you don't already.
  8. Oops just realised this thread is a year old
  9. Are there any canine dermatologists in your area? I would be asking for a referral and get to the bottom of it. Your poor dog must be miserable. The best advice i have had for an itchy dog from canine dermatolgists has been plain old hydrotherapy - no shampoos as they can increase irritation. Put the dog in the tub and spray tepid water on the affected areas for up to ten minutes and pat dry thoroughly, never rub.
  10. I would be pretty concerned if this is not better by now. Have you been back to the vet?
  11. Just wondering why you would persist in giving her dry hard food when it must hurt her throat? Cant you give her a soft diet? Mush some cooked vegs with beef/chicken mince and egg, add a little olive oil to help it slide down.
  12. I find it concerning that the dog is being treated with all these meds and you don't have a diagnosis! Some of these meds may mask symptoms, or worse, exacerbate any existing issues. This scattergun approach is a worry. if the dog has an infection it cannot be diagnosed now as antibiotics have already been commenced. Pain is a good way to diagnose an issue but the dog is on painkillers? Most concerning is the fact that the dog will not eat. There must be a reason for that. If the bloods are inconclusive I would be getting a referral to a canine physician.
  13. He really needs to be seen by a canine dermatologist to get to the cause of the problem and properly diagnose it. Home remedies to soothe it are all well and good but there may be something causing it that an expert can resolve permanently. The area looks quite infected. It is difficult when cost is an issue. Has he had a course of antibiotics?
  14. Yep, beneful is cheap rubbish, filled with sugar and preservatives. Feed your dog some raw meaty bones.
  15. Do you use a proper dog shampoo? Don't use human shampoos as they are a different PH and are harsher and strip the natural oils form the dogs coat. I think you definitely need a dog dryer as you can ensure the dog is thoroughly dry. Moisture is what causes bacteria to flourish. At the same time blow out all the dead coat and reduce shedding. it is important to make sure they are dry between their toes too. Try one of there they will post it out to you, I have had this one for years and it is excellent. http://www.petnetwork.com.au/variable-speed-dryer-with-heat-blue-cs2400w/ Also you could try petway everyday pink shampoo. It is the best shampoo I have found for getting a dog really clean, it removes all the build-up, and makes them smell divine for ages. https://www.petwaypetcare.com.au/shop-online.html?page=shop.browse&category_id=1
  16. I am still trying to work out how you can post, then go to the vet and get a diagnosis of parvo and be back posting again all within the same hour. One would think from the first post the vet appointment had not yet been made. Odd.
  17. When did you take her to the vet?
  18. I can't agree with this. Many dogs that are desexed prior to sexual maturity never commence marking - both dogs and bitches. When I read comments like this it makes me wonder why the only entire dog in my pack is the most submissive, he does not mark inside, and marks outside no more than my desexed (at 6 months) boy.
  19. Councils also give the cheaper rate for microchipped dogs. My desexed and entire dogs all cost the same for council reg.
  20. What dose of prednisolone did he prescribe(per kg)?
  21. Has he had thyroid function tests done?
  22. Why not? If they were planning to breed and do it responsibly, why shouldn't they breed?
  23. Yes, Stop looking at it. It's not unusual to have some swelling and oozing post-op.
