  1. You need to avoid washing/rinsing the dog too often as moisture harbours bacteria and increases irritattion. Avoid using shampoos and conditioners as they remove natural oils. Preferable to bathe as little as possible and dry thoroughly when you do bathe them. Apple cider vinegar diluted half strength and used as a leave in rinse will help settle itching when you do bathe the dog. Best to look for possible causes of irritation and add omega three oils to the diet. There is no quick fix for skin issues. Please also consider seeking a specialist dermatolgy opinion.
  2. You cant compare humans to dogs when it comes to pred dosage as dogs can tolerate higher doses. Also weaning is related to the amount of time the drug has been given. A quick burst for a couple of days is very different to long term dosage. This is not a drug to mess around with, you can see that from the side effects your dogs is experiencing, so ALWAYS seek veterinary advice before stoping or altering the dose.
  3. Agree with this. Also agree a dermatology assessment is needed. You will need a referral from your vet to see them, not sure about Werribee but I know they are at Essendon and Blackburn http://www.melbvet.com.au/html/s01_home/home.asp
  4. Agree. Falls under the "shit happens" umbrella.

  6. if you want a skin specialist you will need to get a referral and this is their website with their locations http://www.melbvet.com.au/html/s01_home/home.asp
  7. If you can tell us the breed you want people here will most likely send you private messages with names of breeders they can recommend. Please buy from a registered breeder, and do your research beforehand to make sure all the appropriate health testing is done on the parents. A vet check on the pups is NOT health testing.
  8. Go to Bunnings and in the compost bin section there are packs of four square wire panels that you can join together with cable ties. They cost $30 a pack.
  9. Try Curash powder on summer itchy rashes and spots. Works wonders.
  10. You need to get a diagnosis to find out what out bacteria you she has growing down there so it can be treated appropriately.
  11. Oh for goodness sake! Do you seriously think the breeder caused the dog to have separation anxiety, and that it would not exist had the breeder removed the dog's companions sometimes?
  12. The breeder in question can jump in at any time, seeing as they are an active member of the forum. The breeder obviously HAS jumped in now. Shame it took a public forum post to do it.
  13. I have looked at the site before and it is massively expensive - one 250 clavulox tablet is $1.68 and one pred 20mg tablet is $17.79 , hopefully I am reading it wrong but I have priced meds there before. Try and get a script and go to the human chemist.
  14. Look at the DOL banner ads. There are some great online grooming stores.
  15. I have taken the odd one off my dogs. You need to get someone to put traction on it and tie cotton around the basas tightly as you can. It will drop off in a couple of days. Having siad that, you are best to just watch it for any changes or bleeding as humans are advised to do with skin lesions. Certainly do not rush into surgery if the dog is not in pain or discomfort. Justkeep an eye on it.
  16. If it IS a skin tag and it does not concern the dog, I would leave it alone.
  17. I'm not sure if you are replying to me but in my experience the people who say you shouldn't advertise on places like Gumtree do usually follow it up with you shouldn't be breeding if you don't have plenty of homes lined up. Was directed at Florise, sorry rebanne! I didn't say a wait list determines your quality as a breeder. Nor did I say it was a good thing to have a wait list. And I am silly because I have been waiting 12 months for a pup from my chosen breeder? How can someone get a point across when people can't comprehend simple statements and then attack you for something THEY decided you said? time to exit this thread.
  18. What a load of rubbish. Next you'll say you should only breed when you have a full waiting list and some spares. I would also prefer that you don't put words in my mouth. How is your statement bolded above different from saying what you said earlier?
  19. What a load of rubbish. Next you'll say you should only breed when you have a full waiting list and some spares. Rubbish  Thanks for that, but typical posting from you I guess. I know many breeders who have quite a few bitches they breed regularly and have no problems finding homes for the pups. Breed clubs and dogzonline are all the advertising they need. I am sure they would use the trading post etc. if need be, but nobody I know needs to resort to that.
  20. Reputable breeders don't need to advertise on those sites as they have people lining up and waiting for pups.
  21. I did read the original post, but maybe you didn't. See Korbin13's post.
  22. Wow, I must have missed that part - can you quote it please? So, I still dont understand how someone who can take their pup to work is the same is someone who leaves a babty puppy home alone all day?
