  1. So because this Ms Seear thinks that "cavoodles" are not loyal to one particular person, they are therefore an ideal choice for someone who is never home? There is so much wrong with all this it is beyond belief .
  2. Why would that be normal? Maybe your dog pissed up agaisnt a brick wall and it splashed back on himself. Give your dog a bath.
  3. and how would this be ensured? Daily/weekly/monthly inspections? and by whom?? Should large volume breeders be expected to open their establishment to outsiders? This is all just head banging pie in the sky stuff. Been discussed forever on this forum and never gets resolved.
  4. It's good isn't it? We don't normally get results from other states
  5. What a rude post Makes one feel you are havng a personal go at someone perhaps? What are all the winks for? Maybe the OP is just interested in any shows that are on around the country. And someone usually posts up the melbourne shows and results, and I also noticed they are not posted this weekend and would be interested to hear any results. Obviously not interested enough to start a thread about it, unlike the OP was..
  6. I have noticed that fewer and fewer people in my breed add show results to their dog profiles on DOL now. They brag on Facebook where of course, it is interactive and they can get lots of accolades. It makes sense from that perspective, to merge/link the two sites.
  7. How old is your dog? Don't forget it is about quality of life and prednisolone is an amazing drug despite it's long term side effects. The main thing to be careful of is not stopping it suddenly if he has taken it for a while, you need to wean them off slowly. It can increase appetite so watch that too so he doesn't gain weight and put more pressure on his painful joints.
  8. Poor puppy. Any idea what had she been eating? The rash looks nasty too.
  9. Always give this drug on a full stomach, and try dropping the dose back to once every two or three days, or wait till your dog shows signs of being sore again. I was prescribed this drug once and found it to be an excellent anti inflammatory, the pain relief lasted two to three days before I needed to take it again. He may not need the full dose either to get relief. But certainly keep an eye on the side effects.
  10. Poodles are such a stunning breed. I can't understand why people cross them anything and everything and ruin their coats
  11. What makes you think they are show quality?
  12. Have you spoken to the breeder yet? What would you expect from the breeder?
  13. I don't really think that is the whole problem, though it would be very convenient to think so. To paraphrase what another DOLer said in a diffent thread, to say it's all corrupt is simply not true, but to say it's all honest isn't true either. Agree wtih Diva. There are many assumptions made by onlookers, maybe some will be correct but I bet if you were to get feedback from the judge, nine out of ten times you would be wrong. Not saying there is no corruption. I have seen several times, dogs that don't usually win at all, going BOB under the exhibitor's best mate - the judge. Facebook has a lot to answer for I reckon.
  14. Are these dogs or people? FTR only you can make a decision like this. It's your body.
  15. Maybe not, because a lot of certain people's success is due to the way they know, handle, and present their own dog. Watch the judging closely sometimes, and you can easily see why certain people win, and its nothing to do with who they are. Some dogs (and their handlers) are just head and shoulders above the rest.
  16. Of course people are concerned with their own success. Why wouldn't they be? Its a hobby, not a learning program. What do you see as wrong with current judging methods, that could be improved by people not knowing who the judges are?
  17. Was that you who had the dog with the damaged tail stump and you got heaps of advice? How is that going now?
  18. Can we get back on topic please?
  19. This has actually been one of the most civilised threads I have read here on tail docking. Until now...
  20. Hi Elina , tails are not actually crucial for balance, otherwise all those docked doggies would be constantly falling over, and they just don't. To OP, I am getting used to tails, but still love the look of the docked dogs I see out there. Not many left now though.
  21. They shouldn't be judging a group unless they are properly educated in the breed standards for that group. But don't forget also that they all have different taste and judge with different eyes and ideas of how a breed should be. Some may overlook faults in favour of overall type and some can't look past certain faults. Unless you get a detailed critique, how can you know why they make the decisions they make?
  22. So in your self taught opinion, how does one learn to respect others and THEIR opinions, regardless of whether we agree with them or not? To ridicule and laugh at others opinions, ie. call them "naive" and "odd" does you no favours at all, and will only hamper your own learning.
