  1. Are they all packed inside? Crappy weather in Melbourne today!
  2. According to this website there is only ten specialist canine dermatologists in Australia. Like any specialist they will not be cheap. http://sydney.edu.au/vetscience/veterinary_services/camden/dermatology.shtml
  3. Sorry Fuzzy82 but I don't agree with holding a fighting frightened pup down, that is not going to make him relax! Also clipping/shaving will make the coat worse - puppy fluff growing through from a combination of two totally different coat types will result in close matting and in a dog who won't tolerate grooming? You will eventually not be able to find a groomer who will want to do him. Also you are then committed to repeating the clip every few weeks. Persevere with the brusing every day. Its the only way. He has to learn it will be a part of his life. Many dogs grow to enjoy it.
  4. That sounds odd that he was so filthy just from being with his litter mates? No breeder should send a pup to a new home in that condition! Makes one wonder what his upbringing has been like to date. Its the breeders job to introduce babies to being groomed gently and make it fun or at least a pleasant experience for them. Has he had a vet check? Sounds like there might be something more going on. Get a soft bristle brush and gradually introduce it when you are playing with him, and cuddling him. Tickle his tummy and then swap your hands for the brush. It will take time now, and such a shame as this introduction to grooming should have been already done for the new owner.
  5. Obvious to who? Everyone will view the dog differently depending on their experience with the breed.
  6. Just be aware that having champion dogs and being respected as a breeder do not necessarily go hand in hand. Ask in the cocker thread, privately is best, and get opinions, and make sure the breeder health tests their breeding dogs.
  7. Why is the Cocker Spaniel breeder the "most respected in VIC"? Do they know you are planning to take the pup OS? That's a long time to wait as there are curently 18 litters available on DOL puppy page.
  8. Why not have a needle biopsy? Usually the vet should do that so they can give you the option of surgery as it may not be necessary. The word tumour does not mean cancer, it means growth. I think people get frightened when they hear that word. Hope all is well.
  9. No, I said that was an idiotic statment (on your part). Not sure what you hoping to achieve by being rude to the people that are trying to set you straight Why the clapping? It seems no matter how many times you are told, you cannot comprehend that registered stock needs to have their progeny registered in order for them to be purebred. And, I suppose you missed the part where I asked about whether you made sure the parents were health tested for known diseases? :)
  10. The lump could be anything and unless you know for sure that is cancerous, there is no need to worry yourself too much yet. Did the vet do a needle aspiration?
  11. No I have not read all your previous threads, I do not have the time or inclination. As I said this thread is typical of all newbies who ask for advice and then ignore it, so why ask? Standard advice given out on this forum is to seek a dog from a registered breeder whose parents have been health tested for known diseases. Other standard advice includes seek out a breeder by word of mouth, who is reputable and will support buyers after the purchase of the pup. Did you do that? You take pot luck with any breeder if you do not research adequately. Your chances of issues are far reduced by opting to go with a reputable registered breeder who is aware of potential health issues in their lines and are working at/succeeding in eliminating them. Obviously we wish this for all buyers of BYB dogs. What an idiotic statement!
  12. This is so repetitive. Newby asks for advice, forum gives advice. Newby ignores advice. Next bit comes when the newby comes back and says you guys were right
  13. Agree with this. Cocker would be a great choice if you don't mind the grooming, otherwise maybe as suggested an English or Welsh Springer spaniel or a Brittany.
  14. 11 days is more than enough time for primary healing to occur. How big is the wound? There are several reasons it may have reopened, one being infection, in which case it is best to leave the wound open and allow granulation healing to occur. Is the wound pink and healthy looking? any discharge? Did she have any antibiotics after surgery?
  15. You haven't repaired my Pupkus  . It has been going strong every day for about four years now.
  16. I'd feed a good quality tinned food (if there is such a thing)
  17. If the xray is being done because the dog is in pain, they will need at the very least sedation, as the shoulder will have to be manipualted and xrayed in various positions and would hurt the dog if he was awake. Nobody can really quote you for that, just give youa rough idea.
  18. I realise that, but obviously they cannot access that with only 5 posts and they asked for the classifieds section, not the Member Marketplace or Commercial Marketplace. So unless they are actually looking for somebody else to access it and see if there are any cheap crates available there, they should go look in the classifieds section.
  19. Everyone has access to the classified section http://www.dogzonline.com.au/classifieds/forsale.asp
  20. Do you realise you do not have to stuff all of this into her every day in one meal? Spread it out over the week! One type of protein per day is plenty. Poor dog will end up with a massive dose of indigestion! No wonder she threw up.
  21. I gather that Cartrophen in dogs is like Methotrexate in human arthritis. A disease modifying agent? Has he been on steroids? If so, oral or injections?
  22. Good to hear. I could see from the way they were panting that they were hot, but as I said, I could not see them drinking as there were no watering points in your video.
  23. How do you know it is conjunctivitis? There are other eye conditions that have a similar presentation ie dry eye can produce green gunk, and corneal ulcer eye is red and sore looking. ALWAYS get new illnesses checked out, it is not safe to assume you know what it is, and never use old medications.
