  1. My dogs have never had problems with chicken frames (I think all those little, sharp looking bones are quite soft and bendy). Where can I find Turkey necks?...I've never seen them. espinay2...Do your dogs have food bowls or do you just give meals straight to their mouths?
  2. I would love to hear what other people stuff their dog's kongs with; In Summer I freeze the contents (sometimes meaty stew or stock or just bits of meat, veggies and peanut butter with water added to stick it all together). Other times I stuff them with whole dog biscuit shapes (Lucky Dog bones, minis etc.), cheese bits, dry dog food and even fresh chicken necks and wings (hard but possible!). I love the idea I just read in 'Boredem Busters' about soaking the dry food in the kong, so it expands. Looking forward to trying that, and can't wait to here other suggestions!
  3. APPLE CIDER VINIGAR!...When he was 8, my 11 year old Cavalier became so sore with arthritis in his legs, he yelped whenever he sat down, got up or climbed in or out of bed, or up or down steps. He couldn't walk further than the end of the block. So we tried giving him a table-spoon of apple cider vinigar once a day (with his dinner) and over-night you could see improvement. He's now down to only about a tea-spoon a day. By the end of the week he was almost perfect and we haven't seen even a hint of pain since then! You wouldn't have a clue he has arthritis now. I have no idea if this would work for others, but it was a (natural) miracle 'cure' for him! It can't hurt to try.
  4. Of my 3 dogs, one will only eat grass to throw up and the other 2 graze often, but only rarely throw up...Sometimes their droppings look like pure grass. That must clean the system out really well!
  5. Thanks for the info. cloverfdch - yes that was me! Our bendigo flyball team (which hasn't even been named yet!) is hoping to enter our first flyball competition at the Bendigo Pet Expo in October. I went to the Koolie Club's April herding workshop too and loved it! I've never seen my Kelpie, Fox so excited in his life. His whole body was trembling. Can Associate dogs do the HIT?
  6. Koolies!!! I'm in Victoria (and a member of The Koolie Club of Australia)
  7. Does anyone know what is required at a herding instinct test? I know both my dogs have natural herding ability, but I've read dogs have to behave in a particular way to pass the test. How many tests need to be passed before the dog is awarded a HIT title? Thanks.
