I am trying everything to try to get weight on our HamiltonStovare. He can not eat anything with much fat. We have been trialling him on Eagle Pack Salmon, Anchovy and Sardine and I was thinking even though he loes the food, I might give him a change in flavour. Eagle Pack duck only has 1% more fat than the Salmom and Anchovy. I know that quite a few DOLers feed the salmon and anchovy formula but I was wondering if anyone feeds the duck formula and whether your dogs liked it?

I contacted one of the companies that ARB recommended and they seem really good. They will make the cage exactly how we wanted it and at a reasonable price. We have specific requirements and they were no trouble for them. They are even going to make a ramp for the dogs to get into the back and it will fit beside the cage.

I hope Hudson gets well soon. Hugs to you.

It is so good to see you recovering Jed. I know it will take a long time for the loss of your beautiful dogs to ease but know that most of DOL will be here for you.

They are great photos. Brock loves his new coat and hasn't tried to eat it yet. Kari looks a bit stunned, probably because she wasn't getting any food.

Thank you. I don't think he has tried lamb heart but I will get some when I next do the dog food shopping. I will also try feeding smaller meals more often and see if that helps.

I get my decals from the US off ebay. The one for our HamiltonStovare is coming from the UK but is also off ebay. I will soon be getting another trailer and i will probably also check out signwriters.

I never thought of that. We have tried lots of things but the trouble with Brock is that he needs fat to put on weight but if you give him anything too fatty, it comes out as liquid at the other end.

Our babies are introduced to the TV not long after being whelped. I have also made up a couple of cd's with different sound effects that have been loaded onto an ipod with all different types of music and this played 24/7 from the time they are whelped.

We have six bitches and the only time we might have trouble is when one is in season. We then keep the bich in season away from most of the others. The rest of the time, they all get on well together. Our males normally get on really well but at the moment we have a young male who is testing the waters and we are really careful who we let with him. I know he will grow out of it but we are still careful with all of ours.

I know this has been discussed several times before but this case is a bit different to the others. I need some advice on feeding our HamiltonStovare. When he was younger, he had to have some of his intestine removed due to a blockage. Since then we have not been able to put and keep any weight on him. We need to be relatively careful on what we feed him. If we feed him too much, it goes straight through him. He can not eat too much fat, so satin balls and lamb flaps are out. He loves raw meat and doesn't really like dry food. He will eat dry but not enough to help his weight. Do you have any suggestions on what we can feed him that would help to keep weight on him? I was just watching him run around with a couple of our Elkies and I could see all of his ribs. He is healthy and has been checked out by Vets who carried out tests and couldn't find anything else wrong.

Thank you. I will go and check out ebay. I would also like to knit one as I am in the mood for knitting at the moment.

Brock, our HamiltonStovare, had to have part of his intestines removed when he was younger due to a blockage. Since then, we haven't been able to get weight on him. When we moved to SA, the boarding kennels we used tried to get weight on him as well but failed. He doesn't carry any excess weight at all and is feeling the cold. The boarding kennels even bought him a coat but Brock ate it. Luckily he didn't get another blockage. I was thinking that maybe a knitted jumper might be better for him and he may not be able to eat it as easily as there won't be any loose bits. He has a similar shape to a Greyhound and I was wondering if anyone has a knitting pattern for a Greyhound jumper?

All of my dogs have multiple everything. I have always liked the look of Greyhound collars but they wouldn't suit my Elkies. I might get him a Black Dog one for play as well.

Lots of people think he is a big beagle or foxhound. Thank you. He is a striking looking boy. We do get some strange looks when we take him out with our Elkhounds.
-
Thank you. They look great. Now all I have to do is choose which ones.

Brock, our HamiltonStovare, needs a new collar and because of his build, I thought a Greyhound collar would be better for him. Does anyone know a good place in Australia that sells them or alternatively, someone who makes them?

Hi Miss Squish, I will ARB a call on Monday.

I bought a new car for the dogs today and I will probably pick it up in two to three weeks. It is a dual cab ute and I am getting a canopy on it. I wanted to be able to leave the tailgate down and rear window up at shows to let air in. I thought about getting a custom made 'cage', preferably divided, for the back so that the dogs could still be secure. Does anyone know where I can get one made?

They are who we used when we moved to Adelaide. They are great and the dogs were very well looked after.

I don't think mine would eat dry either. They love their raw too much.

I am so glad that you are on the mend Jed. Take all of the time you need. -
That is what I like about raw, you don't need to change their diet. I was just wondering whether dry feeders changed the diet. I know that I used to when I fed dry but I also know that some don't change. No, Aziah. Hopefully later this year though. I am in the planning stage for a couple of our girls. There are three I would like to mate soon but not all at once. I am trying to decide on the studs for two of them. There is one male I would really love to use but I can't decide on which girl he would be better with.

My girls are normally fed a raw diet so I don't really have to make any changes but I was just wondering if those of you that feed dry, change their mums to puppy dry when they have whelped or whether they still are still fed their normal adult dry?
