  1. Worming? when to start and how often for a pup? I have always been told and also believe that puppies should be wormed every 2 weeks from 2 weeks until 12 weeks, then every month until they are 6 months and then every 3 months. Flea/tick treatments? how soon can these be administered? It depends on the brand. Some say it can be used on 8 week old pups and others say 12 weeks. Bathing? how soon can she have a bath? She should be able to have a bath now. Our babies have always had at least 2 baths by the time they are 8 weeks old. Desexing? She is so tiny, how soon can she be desexed (I am paying for it, so there is one less accident in the world)? I would discuss this with a vet. It also depends on whether you believe in early desexing or not. I have never had any experience with small breeds.
  2. So sorry for yur loss, Roxie. he was certainly a very handsome gentleman.
  3. I am really sorry. It is made by Laser Lites. That's what comes from trying to sneak DOL in at work. :D Here is a link to it for you: No More Stains
  4. I bought some of the above to get some stains out of Kari. It didn't get all of the stains out but made a big difference. I think after one or two more goes she will be back to her normal sparkling self. I think it is great stuff. :D It hasn't harmed her coat at all but I did put some conditioner on her for the first time to make sure. It did however leak out of the plastic spray bottle that I had it in and placed on the window sill out of the reach of dogs. The paint on the window sill has bubbled. Following the directions, I also mixed some in with some whitening shampoo and it turned it from purple to almost clear. Edited to correct the title.
  5. We were feeding him the recommended dose, thehn decreased it and it still had the same result.
  6. You don't necessarily feed it to pups but if you feed it to their mum, it will ensure that they have plenty of milk.
  7. I have been giving Brock Thrive D because of his digestion problems after having some of his intestine removed. He was doing well on it to start with but I have noticed that for about the last week he has very runny smelly bowel motions after he has had Trive D. If we don't give it to him, his motions are firm. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
  8. I feed all of my dogs, apart from Brock, Nutro. Brock is fed Ziwipeak. Both of these are Super Premium. They are also fed sardines and an egg once a week with the occasional yoghurt and meaty bones. The pups also get vegs. The only thing I add is fish oil capsules. Brock also gets Thrive D to help his digestion problems. Reading some of the posts on here, some people seem to add lots of supplements. Wouldn't they be overdoing it if they are feeding their dogs a good dry?
  9. I think I am more confused than ever now. :D
  10. I have always given my dogs fish oil capsules but after reading a few posts I am now confused as to which is better, fish oil or flaxseed oil?
  11. Brock has had some Ziwipeak Cuisine for dinner and scoffed it down. He hasn't had any ill-effects from the Ziwipeak can he had for his breakfast and in fact his bowel motion was a lot smaller and didn't smell nearly as much.
  12. Thanks again everyone. We had some Ziwipeak cans here so I gave Brock half for his breakfast. He ate it in no time and kept washing his dish. I will have to see if it has any ill effects on him. I am getting some Ziwipeak Cuisine today and he can have some for dinner. The others will hat him for it.
  13. He used to love milk and I have some left after our babies so I will try him on it.
  14. I have a few cans of Ziwipeak at home that I may try him on. The reason the vet didn't want him to eat tinned is because she said it will give him the runs. I might just try him ans see what happens. I will try to get vicsta to take some photos of him on the weekend. He has had a bad time but he is still his lovable, naughty, noisy self. I will give him Hunta hugs.
  15. Thanks IHF. The Vet said not to feed Brock canned/wet foods. The cost doesn't matter if it helps Brcok. I have never skimped where the dogs are concerned. I would and have gone with out so that they don't. I know that brock as well as the rest of my fur kids love Ziwipeak. I don't know why I didn't think of using it. Normally there are plenty of things I could give him to fatten him up but not after his op.
  16. After Brock had his emergency surgery when he ate his crate cover, he only weighed 18kg. He should weigh about 30kg. He lost some of his intestines and now can't easily digest food. We are fighting a losing battle trying to put the weight on him. He also can't eat bones. The Vet has suggested that we feed him an easily digestible dry food that is also high in fat. She did suggest a Hills one also also Royal Canin for kidneys. Can anyone suggest any other good quality dry food, preferably super premium, that is easily digestible but high in fat? Also anything else that will help put weight on. I will make up some satin balls and get some lamb flaps but I will have to take the bone out of them.
  17. Thanks for the replies. I have tried just shampooing her but the stains are still there. I will give her a good wash all over in the whitening shampoo.
  18. One of my girls, Kari has a stained coat due to clay in the backyard. I have Sunlight and Sards Wondersoap and several whitening shampoos. The problem is that she is black, grey and white. Her undercoat is white and so are her legs, chest and rear end. I can use the whitening shampoo on these parts but what do I use on her grey and black parts?
  19. I also would switch to a better dry. If I remember correctly, your pup is 4 months old but I can't remember what breed. Our babies are 4 months old today and will grow to approximately the size of a female German Shephard or Labradors or a bit smaller and our vet said that at 4 months they should be getting 1 cup of food twice a day. That includes everything. So if you give them vegetables, fruit etc, that decreases the amount of dry.
  20. Thanks everyone. Hopefully this is the end of the vet visits for awhile. At least until after we mate our other girl. Brock is back to his normal naughty and loud self. Shadow is getting better. Tyra is still not herself but is slowly getting better, we hope. The vet gave her a needle and kept her there for a while for observation and we have tablets to give her. She was in a bad way though for a while. We have sprayed the whole house so hopefully we have got rid of whatever it was. I suppose it was lucky that Tyra was bitten and not Shadow or Angel.
  21. They say that things come in threes, well I hope this is the last. We have had a really bad 10 days. Monday of last week, we had to rush Brock to the vets and he ended up needing emergency surgery. On Friday we had to take Shadow there because he had hurt his leg. When I came home, my daughter told me that Tyra's face was swollen up and that she had projectile vomited. She was just laying on my bed. We raced her up to the vets and she was in anaphylactic shock from some kind of a bite. My vet should now be able to buy a new car.
  22. One of my girls, Kari has a stained coat from the clay in our backyard. Another Elkhound breeder told us to try some crystals you get from a horse shop that remove stains but she couldn't remember the name. Does anyone now what they are called?
