  1. We use the Mighty White N Brite and Silk Finish on our HamiltonStovare. They are great. The only thing about the Mighty White N Brite, is that when you dilute it, it is very runny but I mix it up in a drink bottle and you can just squirt it where you want it. I was talking to a distributor last week and I will now be using the shampoo on the Elkhounds as well.
  2. I have 5 different feeds for 7 dogs. Unfortunately the majority run out at the same time.
  3. Normally dogs are wormed every 2 weeks between 2 weeks and 12 weeks, then every month until 6months and then once every 3 months for the rest of their lives.
  4. I also find it great therapy. I love pulling out the tuffs from our Elkhounds. At our place it is almost a constant job as they don't seem to blow their coat at the same time. I also do the same as Rysup.
  5. Thanks everyone. I will try anything to get him over it. He normally arrives at shows soaking wet and not very happy. Luckily he doesn't have a long coat and dries pretty quickly.
  6. Yes Ginger Snaps do contain ginger but it was an excuse to buy some. I haven't eaten any for ages. I wouldn't use the valium on Brock. I do have some junket tablets so I could give them a go. Do you just give them a tablet or do you actually make up Junket? We have tried de-sensitising him but it didn't work. We have never had a dog that got car sick before but Brock certainly makes up for it.
  7. Thanks. Unfortunately, Brock always rides in a crate in the back of our wagon. At least that way we can confine his and drool to just one area. I will try covering up the crate so it is dark and he can't see anything. That way he might just sleep. A few people I know that have had car sick dogs have said that if you put them in the dog trailer instead of the car, they aren't sick. So I might try that.
  8. Thanks HMH, but I have also tried rescue Remedy with him as well. I still think I will try the ginger snapsand at least if they don't work with brock, they won't be wasted. I have just been on the phone with Robert Mcdowell and he has a car sickness remedy that I am going to try. One of his remedies has worked wonders with Brock since he had part of his intestine removed so the car sickness remedy is worth a try.
  9. I might try the ginger snaps for both Brock and myself. I love them. We tried the short trips and slowly lengthening the distance and it didn't seem to make any difference. I am going to try feeding him in the car so that he thinks the car is a good place.
  10. Brock gets terrible car sickness. Just the sight of the car is enough to make him start drooling. Once he is in the car he can't go very far without throwing up. I have done a search and some people recommended Travel Calm. We have tried them before and they didn't make any difference, Brock has his first show since he nearly died in about 2 weeks and goes back to show training next week. Does anyone have any other suggestions? My vet suggested valium (for him not me) but I am not sure how good that would be if we are trying to show him. Then again, he might behave in the ring.
  11. It can be hard to find but I bought a couple of cans 2 weeks ago when I did the shopping.
  12. Thanks everyone. This is the first time we have ever had it happened. Tyra has a habit of 'wiping her feet' after she has been to the toilet. I think she may have got her nail caught after she wiped her feet. Tyra has now had her 'surgery'. We started with my daughter holding her and me trying to remove the nail. Tyra kept squirming and crying. We swaped and I nursed her and patted her and told her what a good girl she was and my daughter cut the nail off. The nail had come off completely at one side but there is still a bit of nail on the top of her toe. We bathed her foot with saline and then put Betadine on it. She didn't scream or try to bite either of us. She just laid there as if she knew we were trying to help her.
  13. Thanks - from a pharmacy? You can get it from a pharmacy or most pet supply places have it. I have some in the dog first aid kit, grooming kit and also in our whelping kit.
  14. Thanks CL. Yes, we have a great vet who has a vet nurse on call 24 /7. I didn't want to wake them too early. I also have some styptic powder if it bleeds. She is quite happy in her crate and it doesn't seem to be bothering her at all. It just bothers me. ETA - I couldn't get a good look because she kept trying to pull her paw away but it looks like it could be her whole nail. I do have some ACP which should calm her down while we preform the surgery.
  15. Thanks Becks and Sheree. I am still waiting for my daughter to get home after NY celebrations. I will get her to hold Tyra when she gets home and I will cut it off. I a pretty sure she won't try to bite but will have something ready just in case. Should I bandage her foot and pad her toe as well?
  16. Tyra is in season so she slept in her crate last night. I let her out this morning and she seemed fine but a little while later, she was limping. I checked her foot and one of her toe nails is just hanging by a thread. I have put her back in the crate. What should I do to treat it? Should I try to remove it?
  17. Vinegar is a great natural disinfectant amounst other things. The eye make up removal pads are better than cotton wool because they aren't as fluffy and clean wounds better.
  18. Thanks everyone. i have a lot of that staff in mine but I will add the rest.
  19. I am redoing my doggy first aid kit. I have the MDBA one and have added a few other things to itbut need some more ideas . What does everyone else have in theris?
  20. The Advantix is working on the outside dogs but not te inside/outside ones. The Advantage is the same. Rysup - Only one of the dogs that is scratching is dropping coat, the others aren't. They are not showing any other signs. I will give them a good going over today bto check if they do have any fleas. I have bought some Raid Flea Killer to do the house and if I see any fleas, I will get some capstar
  21. Fifi, I am so very sorry to hear of the passing of Navarre. He was a handsome man. Hugs to you and your family. RIP Handsome Navarre. :D
  22. I am pretty sure it is fleas. Nothing has changed for the dogs and the only dogs that are scratching are the ones that come into contact with the cats. Our cats are long haired ones and hate baths with a passion.
  23. I know that flea treatments have been discussed many times but I am at work and don't have time to do a search. I have been using Advantix on our dogs and Advantage on the cats. Although I haven't found any fleas on the dogs lately they are scratching madly and chewing themselves so I think I may need to change flea treatments, both for the dogs and cats. I think it is the cats giving the dogs fleas. I am still waiting for one of my girls to come into season and she will be mated, so I need something safe for her. What would you suggest I change to?
  24. I bought some Ziwipeak for Brock and emptied it into a container. Brock can't eat it so I was wondering if anyone can tell me how much protein and how much fat it has in it. I may be able to switch Kari onto it.
  25. I had the problem of clay soil staining the white of one of my girls. I tried several products and the best I found was a combination of Laser Lites No More Stains and EZ Groom Crystal White Shampoo.
