  1. Thanks BB. I can't say I will be disappointed if she isn't in whelp though.
  2. Thanks Mjosa. We will wait and see if she shows any symptoms of being in whelp and then take her to the specialist.
  3. Thanks Leanne. I have contacted a couple of friend who are Elkhound breeders over here to see who they recommend. One of them is Gandor's breeder and apparently he is his fathers son. Any female he thinks is his.
  4. Thanks Leanne. We have pretty much decided to let nature take its course. If Tyra is in whelp, we will make sure she has the very best of care. Is John the one who is part of Frozen Puppies? When we had some semen collected and frozen and sent over to Sydney to use on Kari, I am sure he was the vet who the stud dogs owners used. I am also pretty sure he is the other specialist that the kennel owners recommended. In fact they actually used him recently form an AI.
  5. That is also on the cards. We have picked her up and done a swap bringing her and Prada home and leaving two others in their place. Prada just wasn't settling in. Tyra is definately swollen but according to the kennel owners', they have not seen any blood at all. Apparently, Kasper started to take an interest in her this morning even though she was kept away from the others. Both the owners are breeders and judges and have given me the names of two repro specialists.
  6. Can someone from Adelaide please let me know if Chris Girling is the best Reproduction Specialist just in case we decide to let her go and she is in whelp? Tyra almost died when she lost a lot of blood with her c-section. If we go through with the whelping, I want to make sure she has the best possible care, both pre and post whelp.
  7. Yes and possibly the cost of a public holiday c-section. ;) I still haven't decided what to do though.
  8. We have enough room here for a litter. I am not sure if we will be in our own place by then or not. I just worked out that if she is in whelp, the pups will be due on Boxing Day.
  9. Thanks fifi. I don't know if we would have done it or not. I hadn't really decided whether to mate Tyra again or not. We are doing a swap tomorrow at the kennels. I will take her to a repro specialist and will definately DNA test.
  10. I have just received a phone call from the boarding kennels I have some of my dogs at until we buy a place here. Tyra, our 5 year old female and Gandor our 20 month old male tied today. Tyra was not supposed to be in season and apparently hadn't been showing any signs of being in season. Kasper our almost 6 year old male is also with them and he knows the perfect time to mate, yet he hasn't shown any interest in Tyra. Tyra has had problems in the past with being in whelp. It took us three tries before we had a successful litter out of her. The mating wouldn't be too bad but we don't know whether to let her have the litter if she is in whelp or not.
  11. Apart from the picnic next weekend? is there another meet planned? We are planning on arriving in Adelaide on 11th October.
  12. That sounds about right. She will still eat the puppy food but we have tried her on some adult over the last few days and she does a face plant into it and can't eat it fast enough. She will also growl at any of the other dogs that come near her when she has some adult dry but doesn't with the puppy dry.
  13. Thanks Oakway. She eats frames, chicken mince, wings, necks etc for dinner. Of a morning, I feed her dry because of time mainly.
  14. Our dogs are normally fed raw but pups are fed dry for breakfast and raw for dinner. Our 7 month old girl needs to put some weight on. She takes after her parents and is lean. I have bought some Artemis Osopure Power for the adults that need to put on weight to feed when we are travelling. The pup normally has Artemis Freshmix Small to Medium Breed Puppy. I was wondering if she is too young to feed the Osopure power to or maybe giving her half puppy and half power. Is seven months too young to change a medium breed puppy to adult power dry? 15. We have only applied the cold tea once and his eye is almost back to normal. Thank you everyone.
  16. I have made the tea and I am just waiting for it to cool. I had to make a cuup for my daughter because she thought I was offering to make her one when she saw the tea.
  17. Thanks Elfin. I will go and make up some tea and let it cool. He liked having his eye flushed.
  18. He is a 6 month old Elkhound. We washed his eye out and it is now just the skin around the eye that is red and a bit puffy. His eye is responsive and doesn't seem to have sustained any injury at all. There is not any cloudiness and doesn't appear to be any discharge. I will give it a go with saline as well.
  19. One of our dogs woke up with a red eye. His pupil appears to be fine but it is red around the pupil. There is no sign of any injury. Our vets aren't open today. Does anyone have any suggestions on what we could try until we can get to the vets tomorrow morning?
  20. I don't know about Rysup but I start giving the Folate as soon ar they come into season and keep them on the same raw diet.
  21. I am so sorry for the loss of Ruby. I too have been in tears since I read it. You don't deserve to have lost 2 beautiful dogs in a small amount of time but you did give them the best time of their lives.
