  1. Just gorgeous! There is something very special about a Beagle baby
  2. You can also get a lot of products for dogs (and cats now) at the Forest Lake markets (http://www.forestlakemarkets.com/HTML/galleries_links.html). They are great and have products ranging from "Dino Bones" to pigs ears, "whizzers", and even cow hoofs (be careful if given inside as they STINK!!) which lasted at least 2 hours (better than less than 5 mins for a pigs ear). They also have started stocking some cat products which we bought as well. The two cats love them
  3. I am sorry to hear of your loss, Kaffy Magee. After losing our boy on St Patrick's Day, I can empathise with what you are going through. RIP Kaden :D
  4. I have used Bark Busters twice, once when I lived in Wodonga in the mid to late 90s and then a couple of years ago up here in Brisbane. I would have had no hesitation in recommending them in Victoria as I had excellent results with my girl who now lives with my parents - to this day, she is still a very obedient dog. As for my experience in Brisbane, well, I was disappointed to say the least, but it may have been a combination of a very stubborn and wilful Rhodesian Ridgeback and a lack of motivation on our part. As previous posters have said, it is a franchise so I guess it just depends on who you are "lucky enough" to have in your area.
  5. Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts. It has been such a hard week for both my husband and I. Not a day has gone by where we haven't shed copious amounts of tears - especially last night for some reason. I wish the pain would go away
  6. It is with a very heavy heart to announce we had to say goodbye to our dear friend Jabali :D . He was a very loyal and loving companion to his mum and dad and also playmate to Makini. Jabali was only with us for 3 short years but in that time he endeared himself to many, including my mum and dad who looked after him, as well as Makini and our two cats recently when we went away. We have many memories of Jabali, from lying with us on the bed, with his head on my chest, to his lovely "welcome home from work" kisses and tail wags!! Jabali would love to be in the kitchen with us and watch everything we did, from chopping something up, cooking toast and cooking tea. He was always there, sitting so patiently (and waiting for a treat!!). We miss you SO much Jabali and hope you are running free and without a care in the world - something you weren't able to do while you were with us. Love always and forever in our hearts. RIP our dear friend and till we meet again
  7. Both of our RR's eat grass - our girl eats it to be sick, while our boy eats it just because he likes it. In his nearly 3 years, I have only known him to vomit once as a result of eating grass, while our 3 1/2 year old girl, will vomit probably 9 times out of 10.
  8. Russ_Ren, He is looking gorgeous - I just love THOSE ears.
  9. Our bitch's microchip migrated down to the top of one of her front legs. It would be so easy to push it out. Our boy's we have no idea where it is!! But back on topic, he also has a lump on the side of his neck. We thought it might have been a reaction to an injection he had a couple of weeks previously but we're not sure. We are keeping an eye on it and it seems to be reducing in size. The trouble with our boy is that he has such a high pain threshold he doesn't let on that it hurts him or not. We can put quite a bit of pressure on it, and he doesn't flinch.
  10. Bakari is looking pretty comfortable there Russ_Ren, and he's growing into a lovely looking boy.
  11. Our first puppy (crate trained) would wake up really early (anytime from 4.30 onwards, depending on the time of year). She "taught" our new boy to wake up just as early, until we bought a trailer and now they sleep until I decide it's time to get up.
  12. Erny, The "fairness", we believe, was that it might give us an unfair advantage over the other dogs, so yes, I guess it was political. I think there would be quite a few dogs who have had the implant being shown, likewise a few desexed bitches. Mellg, We have shown our boy since he has had the implant. The size of his testicles has not been held against him (not that we have been made aware of anyway). Mind you, it is funny watching the judges go over him and trying to find them!! Shoemonster, We enquired with the CCC about showing him before we got the implant. They wanted a letter from our vet (we aren't sure they had even heard of Suprelorin) advising that there were no harmful side effects, that it would not affect his ability to reproduce etc and that it was reversible.
  13. Hi Erny, Our boy had the implant about 5 months ago. We noticed his temperament settled down a heck of a lot and he wasn't so stressed. He is a show dog, and although it doesn't condone its use, the CCC couldn't see any issues with us showing him. Mind you, they did say it was up to us to determine if it was fair and just to continue showing him. Our girl has just finished her season and while he still showed a fair bit of interest in her, it seemed he was a bit confused as to why he didn't find her so appealing as he did last time!! We still kept them separated for a couple of weeks during the day. As for his "goolies", I think they have shrunk by at least a third.
