  1. You definitely did the right thing. If you can't take proper care because your life situation changed, you should not force the dog to suffer. You made a decision to get a dog when you had different living conditions. You can't always control what's going on in your life, and as heartbreaking as it might be, you did the right thing. You should approach it the same as you would if your dog died. Hope this will help - Grieving a pet.
  2. The tricky thing is that you can't be sure what the best choice for your puppy is until you try a few brands. If the puppy thrives on supermarket dry food, than it's not a bad choice. I personally prefer Taste of the Wild for my pup. However, that doesn't mean it will suit yours. Royal Puppy food is good, and unless your puppy has digestive issues, I don't see any reason you should switch.
  3. It's possible the dog simply drinks too much water an hour after eating. When the kibble enters the stomach, it will expand. It might be a good idea to make the portion a bit smaller. I don't think you have to worry too much because if there was a serious issue, the puppy would refuse food and water. That's something most vets will ask about first. Just to be safe, call your vet and make sure your puppy is not in danger.
