  1. Gorgeous pups, and a VERY nice handler!! Which one is yours Jed?
  2. It is not necessary to begin HW treatment till 12 - 16 weeks. The microfilaria which the mosquito injects into the dog, do not mature for 16 weeks, so the pup is perfectly safe if you do not begin till 12 weeks+, and the pup will be better for not having the treatment at 6 or 8 weeks. there is no possibility of the pup getting heartworms.
  3. Your house insurance often also covers pets, for extra dollars per month. Pet Plan - www.petplan.com.au Bow Wow Meow - 37c per day - illness and accidents www.bowwowinsurance.com.au/ Might be worth checking out a few, some are better than others.
  4. Have been lighting candles for you. Hope you are getting the vibes. How are the dogs? Ker you ARE a good sausage
  5. Burke has hated the ANKC for a couple of decades, and does whatever he can to rubbish purebred dogs and their breeders. All he has ever done is ensured lots of nice families bought unhealthy dogs and that dogs continued to suffer in puppy farms. Well done, Mr. Burke. Any and all dogs can suffer from hereditary problems, not just registered dogs. By purchasing a dog from someone who took some care with hereditary problems, as well as neonatal health, the buyer has more chance of obtaining a healthy pet.
  6. I've never attendied a vet's parade or class where every single dog wasn't applauded and cheered. Luminaries of the breed, grand old chaps and ladies, every one of them as proud as punch to be out there, special, the centre of attention. Great effort on the part of the owners and a great effort by the dogs themselves - PLUS a great apportunity to see dogs of years passed which may be a few generations back in our pedigrees. True lovers of the breed do so enjoy veterans parades or classes, and rousing cheer always lifts old tails and heads, and puts spring into every step. Amd sometimes, we have to wipe a cinder from our eye.
  7. Earlier in this thead, a poster commended the RSPCA for going and gettng Jed's dogs, and taking them to the shelter. There were happy snaps of the dogs looking clean, and comfortable, if bewildered at the rspca shelter. I will also commend them for doing the right thing. The dogs were no doubt upset, suffereing from smoke inhalation, and perhaps burned, and the RSPCA stepped in, took them away from dangerl and did for the dogs what Jed tried to do because she was overcome by fire, and then taken to hiospital And RSPCA remarked on the good condition and socialisation of the dogs. Congratulations to the RSpca for doing as their charter states. I understand this will be on Animal Rescue
  8. Surely every responsible dog club and breeder in Australia should be making submisions and attending meetings, not just one club? From reading what is written here, many regulations will not find accord with registered breeders but will advantage "puppy farms". Some regulations seem satisfactory. Any legislation should be framed by responisble breeders, not any separate factions. This impacts on all breeders, not members of a club RSPCA needs help from breeders to frame the legislation, so we don't have another debacle such as the Clover Moore bill, so all breeders should have input.
  9. Unfortunately, because so many different types of dogs which have attacked are portrayed by the media as pitbulls, the public now has little idea of how a pitbull looks, plus the pitbull was bred for work rather than type, so the type does vary. More sensible, surely, to remove any dog which is savage not a breed which is largely not vicious, although some may be dog aggressive, as may staffies, cattle dogs, amstaffs, mastiffs. boxers and maltese ... which is a management/training issue, surely.
  10. Well Said. If this person was arguing that the dog is an AST and should not be banned, why did she argue that the AST and the pitbull were the same breed? Totally uninformed. The dog still remains banned in the GCCC and hundreds of properly registered American Stafforshire Terriers are in jeopardy. The ANKC is certainly not going to argue for unpapered dogs, only papered ones which are registered with them. What was the point of taking the case to the Supreme Court to argue that although the dog was not a Pitbull, it was the same thing, so also banned If they spent $500,000 as they said on TV, on the case, it would have been cheaper to move to NSW where the dog was, and not put American Staffordshire Terriers in danger, and risk the danger of the bans being extended
  11. If you are correct Justin19801, American Staffordshire Terriers and Staffordshire Bull Terriers should be added to Breed Specific Legislation and destroyed. You are disagreeing with Breed Specific Legislation, yet you are requesting that two other breeds be added? You are obviously in favour of Breed Specific Legislation and would like to see two other breeds destroyed. Do you believe all the bull and terrier breeds should be banned or only the American Pit Bull Terrier, the American Staffordshire Terrier and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier? What other breeds do you think should be added. Do you have any proof of "falsified papers"? I intend reporting this to the ANKC, as it is against the rules and if pitbull people are falsifying papers they should be charged in the courts
  12. Andrew Richards? DogsQld has information regarding the AST and this case on their website. I am quoting it below. They are having talks with the Government.
  13. It's not surprising you can't feed the dog properly, you don't even know the correct breed name. Suggest you do some research which you should have done before you bought the dog.
  14. With a pup which will mature into a large dog, and the problems of diet induced problems, perhaps it would be worth doing some research on premium foods particularly those for large breed puppies. When you are unsure of diet, it is better to feed a complete and balanced diet. I think some good suggestions have been made. It is possible to cause problems with incorrect food, and a dog of this breed should not be eating supermarket food.
  15. Eagle Pack researches up as a good food. Excellent that your pup is eating well now. Be aware of the possibility of causing hip displaysia via diet and exercise and if the breeder has not mentioned this to you, do some research.
  16. Affordable Vet Care is certainly well priced. Excellent for vaccinations. They were stars on ACA about 12 months ago. Wasn't confidence making. Friends have not been happy with some more complicated procedures. Dr. Mole is an excellent vet. As is West Chermside.
