  1. I was offered 2 other houses for rent last week.. both allowed dogs and cats. Nothing overly flash, but not hovels either... depends on how much you want to keep your dogs I suppose. Inner city... LOTS of people live and rent there with pets... just that the rent is horrendously expensive whereas it's cheaper to live west of parramatta.
  2. Health testing WASN'T done... a vet did xrays... that isn't hip or elbow scoring.
  3. How can they be registered/pedigreed if you aren't a registered breeder?? And the 'goldies'.. are Golden Retrievers.... Labradors are yellow. Hip and elbow scores done??
  4. I don't know where this idea comes from. Depending on where you want to live... AND keep your pets.. it isn't that difficult to find a rental in Sydney at all. I am in a 3br house, garage, decent size block etc in a nice area where MANY people are renting with dogs.... and I'm only 10mins from Parramatta CBD. It took looking at 2 houses and that was it. We were actually offered both but chose this one as it had more space.
  5. He's not saying anything negative about mongrels.. just that he wants purebreds for the photo shoot.. I added Genevieve.. he didn't specify that he didn't want a retarded Great Dane.. so we're in with a shot!!
  6. Zinc and castor oil cream isn't as non-toxic for ingestion as it is to put on a baby bum. Using Lansinoh is 100% safe and totally non-toxic. It is used in breast feeding mothers with nipple soreness etc and is Lanolin based. You can get it from any chemist.
  7. Actually, it would be seen as beneficial if you called them yourself to find out what you need to do/study in order to gain employment there... you would show that you had initiative.. a plus for any employer
  8. Holding on for hours can cause reflux.. urine going back up into the kidneys.. causing quite a nasty infection. Not an emergency at this point, but definitely head to your vet tomorrow.. even if the blood is no longer coming out.
  9. Chop em off asap... he'll fill out regardless... different if he was a giant breed.... but he isn't.
  10. How do you know she never goes inside? You walk past a few times a day... who says she doesn't sleep inside at night? Just because you don't see her being walked or going inside doesn't mean that she is being neglected. What would you report her owners for?? Keeping her on a verandah during the day?? They are being responsible owners.. they know she can get over the fence so they have her somewhere she is safe and secure... My advice is to leave her and her owners alone. And they'd have every right to be angry and tell you to mind your own business...
  11. Cool! My brother will be pleased!
  12. I'd give it to a busker or Vinnies... I wouldn't want to hold onto tainted PETA money..
  13. Hi there My brother was the art director for the building of the new website for Milbemax... a dog and cat worming prep... They have only recently launched the site and have a photo comp with worming meds as the prize. Upload pics of your poochies and every month, a winner is chosen. Feedback about the site etc would also be beneficial. ;) MILBEMAX
  14. Tellington Touch Therapists... I know one of them also teaches, but I can't remember which one... http://www.lindatellingtonjones.com/pracDi...shtml#AUSTRALIA There's also Bowen Therapy... will see if I can find the link I had for the course too...
  15. He is a pustule on the arse of the universe. Egomaniac who needs a shovel through his forehead.
  16. I'd like to find a pram large and stable enough for my Labrador one day. She's an amputee now and at 13yrs old, she can still go for a short walk, but gets really tired after about 500m (she only had the surgery 5wks ago)...
  17. Owner needs to contact both Blacktown and Hawkesbury pounds. (more likely going to Hawkesbury if picked up out there though). Several vets in the area.. closest one being Vineyard Vet on Windsor Rd. Lots of bushland out that way though.. hope they find her very soon.
  18. Without knowing exactly why he has been picked up/impounded again, there is nothing to justify kicking anyone up the ... his owner could be in hospital, he could have been looked after by someone while the owner is away for a few days etc.. no idea. If they are travelling, they may not be in phone range.. who knows? Call the pound and ASK what happened?
  19. It is also one of the most treatable forms of cancer and is rarely inoperable... so if you have a diligent owner who actually check their bitch regularly.. a tumour is more likely to be picked up when small and cut out easily..
  20. They may well have been used as cattle dogs, Heavy Paws.. just like the Rottweiler was a cart dog and the Labrador is a Gun Dog... BUT.. there greater history is that of a Pit fighter. THAT is the more prominant origin of the ABPT and THAT is the behaviour you are fighting against in this breed (and a few other bull breeds). Some breeds ARE more inclined to show dog aggression and even if they don't start it.. cause massive injuries when they finish it. Almost any Staffy breeder will tell you that their dogs have a predisposition to being narky with other dogs BUT will also explain that in the right environment, with the right family and with A LOT of socialisation as youngsters, reduce the incidence of dog-dog aggression enormously... Pitty owners rarely do it.. they tend to deflect onto other information about how they are wonderful with kids, a few have saved people's lives, were originally bred for cattle herding.. all great things, but again I say.. the refusal to accept and discuss (with the exception of a few here) the base fact that APBT's DO have a genetic predisposition to dog aggression. I'm not a supporter of BSL ... but I'm not a supporter of glossing over bad traits in breeds that NEED to bred out and/or culled.
  21. But how often do Dallly Welfare have puppies? Not everyone wants an adult dog so it's more about getting the information out there that someone can buy a Dally puppy from an ethical registered breeder for significantly less than $1200... one that has been bred from health tested stock (and doesn't look like a Greyhound x)...
  22. Never going to happen. Labs don't have a genetic predisposition for fighting with or killing other dogs. Fact is (and one of the reasons BSL debates are often unrealistic) is the often blatant refusal by the ABPT's staunch supporters to accept or acknowledge what they were bred for and what they still have a predisposition to do if not raised very carefully. For the most part.. the amount of socialising a Lab needs to remain dog friendly is vastly different to the work needed to establish and maintain a dog friendly ABPT (and yes, I know there are dog friendly ABPT out there... but it isn't the 'norm' for them to be accepting of most other dogs off the bat). Labs are bred for their amiable nature... and always have been. (yep, there are some not very nice ones out there.. but it is quite uncommon to find one inherently dog aggressive).
  23. Labradors are better looking, better temperament, smarter and overall just a better breed. ... moreso if they are black
