Oh c'mon! You can see into bone and muscle now?? Unless the bone is displaced, there is NO way you could possibly know for sure if a bone isn't broken... same with ruptured ligaments.. unless the injury caused displacement of the joint, you CAN'T know... Admit that you have no intention of taking your dog to the vet and have every intention of taking her to the herding on the weekend.
-
I dare say the most likely reason your staffy has cancer is that she is 16yrs old (and started the others at 13yrs).. pretty typical for any dog that age to develop lumps and bumps whilst still kicking on. She's doing very well to get to the age she has!
-
Much clearer.. you completely changed the story... 1. Implying that you did in fact see the pony get the dog... and 2. non weight bearing on the leg and walking with a limp.. not 'just a bit sore as you now say. No drama.. you're the one who was seeking advice about taking her to herding or crating her for a week....
-
She's been trodden on by a horse and is not weight bearing when running.. the answer should be obvious... common sense should tell you, no.
-
So she's fine. Good to hear. So you didn't really want people's opinions at all?

Can you just buy another grass bit for the pet loo?? I would think that isn't anywhere near often enough. I would be doing it every second day. A weeks worth of urine to wash off.. nothing is going to make that stench go away in a hurry!
-
Why wouldn't you take her to a vet to be checked properly? She could have torn ligaments or tendons which aren't going to heal in a week.. she could also have a broken bone.

Fair enough.. Many people I know refer to their female dogs as a 'bitch' simply because I do have many friends who are breeders and veterinary people so it's not even remotely derogatory... if pet owners get offended by proper terminology on a dog forum, then it's their issue, not mine. I don't think my comments were undiplomatic so we shall agree to disagree and move on from it. :D There are MANY crossbred dogs out there who look nothing like one of the breeds known to be a part of the mix. That's the wonders of genetics and the stupidity of crossbreeding... never a guarantee of what the progeny will look like.
-
You have a thing about the word.. not me. It's a crossbreed.. therefore, it is a mongrel. No different to calling a female canine a bitch..

Meh.. doesn't make me wonder at all... I very firmly believe that if you get cancer, you were always going to get it regardless of what you do to prevent it. Animals are the same... though I do believe that the food we feed them (and ourselves and our kids) plays an important role in 'activating' cancer cells later in life.. But honestly.. life is just too short to worry about something like this... if it does worry you.. wash everything before the fisrt wear... easy peasy
-
Everything will give you cancer if you listen to all the crap... and possibly if you actually ingest the polar fleece.... I really would be more concerned about the effects of diet and feeding commercial pet foods with multiple chemicals etc than what they wear in the cold... remembering that dogs do have fur to protect their skin... for them to absorb toxins from a polar fleece coat, it would have to be a huge amount and it would have to be able to seep through their fur and skin to even begin to be absorbed into their blood stream or organs.. My advice.. stop reading articles about random stuff causing cancer when there is absolutely no proof to back it up and no explanation as to how the cancer is caused.

Teaching a trick 'properly' is merely an opinion. I prefer clicker training but luring works well for some people and some dogs... I can see what the big deal is people doing it are spending time with and having fun with their well behaved dogs.. I can't see a negative in that.

No you wouldn't. Bullmastiff mum would have laid down for her Chihuahua friend to allow him to do the deed. My Lab was impregnated by a Lhasa Apso... she happily obliged and laid down... (she was desexed 2wks later btw).
-
Their fangs are also not large enough to penetrate adult human skin.
-
It;'s not that ugly.. just looks like most other mongrel chihuahua x's.

Yep! Never suctioned a pup in my life.. if a little extra suction was needed.. suck and spit was done... gross, but highly effective.

Have had a few rescue dogs with cherry eye over the years and have always had it cut out... tacking (stitching it back in) often doesn't work long term... Both ways require general anaesthesia as it is a painful procedure and no dog on the planet would allow someone to stick them right in their eye whilst awake or under light sedation. Aftercare is always very important due to possibilities of infection and trauma.

Great Western Animal Hospital Most of the vets mentioned in the thread aren't in Western Sydney at all... (Bondi in particular is absolutely miles from here!)

I'm an implanter... I'm in Toongabbie.. My number is 0402 0236 773

I would flip if someone fed my dogs without my permission (and i would rarely give permission)... My Dane has a sensitive belly and she is also extremely food aggressive with other dogs if people aren't around... if a neighbour threw food over the fence, I would be in hysterics as she will kill another dog that comes near her food (without supervision). If I am standing right there, I may allow a treat but it depends on what it is due to my Dane having a funny gut over things like liver, roo.. My Lab needs to keep her weight down as she only has 3 legs and HD so cannot be allowed to get fat... plus she's a pig so will just bug the crap out of people if she thinks they have food for her.. and my Poodle isn't overly interested in food from other people... just attention. lol

Average 9-12mth old Lab boy ending up in rescue with someone who knows and loves the breed... a few weeks is all it takes to get them settled down and behaving respectfully... desexed and get some training and rules into them and they are brilliant. A few months is waaaaaaaaay underestimating the trainability of a young Lab.

The ad is for working dogs... poorly worded fair enoug, but anyone looking for a working dog will understand the ad... it isn't aimed at the pet buying public... and they are advertising their breed for what they are intended... work.
-
Yup. Gold Labs.. dead giveaway.
-
Sorry.. near enough isn't good enough. She's a BYB.. nothing more, nothing less.

I wouldn't like a bitch licking liquid paper off her pups.. it's toxic.
