  1. She looks completely healthy and as much as it's wrong.. I think she is gorgeous! I see no point in having expensive blood tests done when skin scraping has shown she does NOT have either sarcoptes or demodectic mange... her skin is healthy aside from what looks to be acne (very common in Cresties)... staph infection is commonly angry looking and sore... that is NOT a sore dog.. the op has stated several times that she doesn't scratch at herself anywhere.. there is no reason to believe that she has some underlying problem... her photos indicate that she isn't patchy and shows that the hair hasn't been worn out or fallen out (not alopecia). Perhaps money well spent would be with DNA testing to determine her heritage? (No idea how much it is though)
  2. Seems we are! I haven't totally decided if i believe that reptiles and fish have souls though.... and I believe that chicken have no soul either (because they are satans henchmen who blink from the wrong eye lids! *shudder*)
  3. I agree... and I do have a strong faith and belief in God.. but there are a lot of people who don't believe in miracles either.
  4. I don't think cats are particularly 'more progressed' than other species. (actually, I think cats are primarily still very instinctive and haven't progressed that far at all from their 'wild' cousins). Some apes/other primates, elephants, dolphins and pigs are all known to be highly intelligent and have certain forms of heightened awareness of self or learning etc.. that said.. i don't think that intelligence is a requirement to having a soul.
  5. I believe that animals have a soul. I had the discussion with a priest friend of the family when I was 8yrs old as my teacher had said that my dog didn't have a soul... that priest (and several others I know personally) also believe that animals have a soul. Thing is, like believing in or having faith in God... as much as noone can prove the existance of God or whether animals have a soul... noone can disprove it either.
  6. Excellent! Good luck! Hopefully some more dolers will enter
  7. My Lab and Dane will be PTS and cremated with me. My Poodle can be rehomed. Being that my Lab and Dane are already old, unless something horrific happens to me in the next 12mths, I don't think it's an issue in the forseeable future.
  8. Thanks for the feedback Iggy mum. I'll let my brother know.. though you are right.. it is an information site only (and promotion of the product of course), but being that it is a huge company (doesn't just sell Interceptor) that supplies vets etc with their product, they don't sell 'direct to the public' unfortunately. Did you enter the competition?
  9. They've actually found that pups under 12wks recover faster, have an almost zero risk of infection, it is very rare for them to pull at stitches, they heal A LOT faster (stitches can often be removed after 5days).
  10. Yep. Depends on the dog and breed plays a part too. And most bitches don't develop spay incontinence.. in fact, more bitches desexed at 6mths develop the condition, than pups done under 12wks. Juvenile desexing has been happening for years in the UK and US and thankfully, it isn't that hard to find a vet to do it here in Australia either and with younger vets, it's being done more often too.. still mainly rescue pups, but some breeders are doing it now too which is fabulous.. and the only way to guarantee byb-ing can't be encouraged or done by puppy buyers... no accidental litters either.
  11. Hey there, My brother has built another website (this time for Interceptor Spectrum) and some feedback would be great. There's a promotions page with a competition to win product and upload pics of your dogs to get a chance to win! Interceptor Spectrum competition Please have a look around the site and see what you think of it... easy to navigate etc. Thanks (just so folks know.. I can't win anything as my brother built the site so hopefully someone here will be a winner! )
  12. Get a crate and put him in it... he isn't going to know to wake you up for a toilet break if you've only just brought him home AND he isn't house trained. Did the RSPCA not give you any information regarding training him or using a crate??
  13. You might want to remove that comment Jaxx.. I certainly can't and won't back that bit up.
  14. Ummm how does some telephonist at the infringement place change your ticket to a warning instead of a fine?? That can only happen in court as far as I was aware??
  15. I'm not known for beating around the bush. And I have told him exactly what I think of him... to his face. Rude prick that he is.
  16. Don Burke is a pathetic, souless little man with a massive chip on his shoulder regarding the pedigreed dog world. He never allows anyone to have a say (even moreso if you are a woman) and is one of the most rude, chauvanistic, meglomaniacal bastards on this planet. His knowledge of canine breeding, genetics and the dog world in general is base level at best and whilst he may be highly intelligent (ie: academic), he is so blinded by his hatred of canine governing bodies and the people who upset him many years ago, that he can no longer see reason or have an intelligent thought on the subject. Unfortunately, he IS listened to by many who have little to no knowledge. He is a supporter of ACA breeders who are known for their associations with puppy farms... and was a staunch supporter of Ron Wells.. the largest puppy farmer in the country until he was shutdown several years ago.
  17. I had to get an antibiotic syrup for my cow when she was just a calf... her script label said "Cecily Marchant - Bovine/Dog"
  18. It was pretty serious if puncture wounds were the result. I'd put him to sleep but if that isn't an option, I'd be seperating them unless under direct supervision and get a behaviourist involved immediately..
  19. Not unless the soft crate is then properly secured to the floor etc. One of the reasons for harnessing laws is so the dog doesn't become a projectile in an accident. If the dog is in a crate that isn't secured.. then both dog AND crate become a projectile... even more dangerous.
  20. If you're willing to give up your good money for really crap pay... work with dogs... especially in animal welfare. I left vet nursing because I couldn't live on the wages and whilst at the end, I would have earnt a lot more as a vet, I couldn't afford to go to uni full-time and survive. Unless you get into a very specialised field.. doing canine chiro.. could earn a good living, but I have a feeling you need to be a human chiro first... or a vet? I can't remember..
  21. I always thought it was an English Mastiff...
  22. Cordelia, my Lab had been walking around (and running actually) on her leg that had been quietly developing cancer in both the bone and muscle. Being the way she is, she showed no signs that she was in pain except some slight slowing up generally.. which I expected as she is 13yrs old. It wasn't until Easter Sunday when she turned to chase a ball at the dog park and we heard a snap and down she went... screaming. Xrays revealed a horrendous break 24hrs later, she was walking as best she could despite the fact that she had a massive cast on from toe to hip... if a dog is not bearing weight.. it is hurting!
