  1. Will do, 4 cats have to have their booster shots in another week or so anyways
  2. Ellz - he has always been a fairly big drinker, so I would say that it's no more than when I brought him home. Also the breeder wants the pups back at their place for their next needles, so seems he will be going there instead on the 20th. So I will mention it to the home visit vet and perhaps see if I can get him weighed and if things are going downhill he'll be back to the vet we saw last week. KitKat - I've decided against the Nutrigel after some advice from others who feel he might get even more stubborn and decides he only wants to eat the sweet tasting yummy gooey stuff
  3. Well I'm going to keep at it, but boy he's lost some weight already, ribs this morning, waist too defined...I hope he starts eating soon. He's still drinking heaps and running around though so I must be tough on the lil bugger!
  4. Griff - breeder says that most of them are being fussy, I would have thought he would be eating properly by now but he's not. Breeder also seems to think he is just being very stubborn, he is pushy with everything, will ignore you if he feels like it so I can't back down to him or he'll be walking all over me when he's older. Kit Kat - Daegon has been eating on and off like this since I got him which was almost 3 weeks ago now. I'm worried about him not growing properly because of his antics, having so much growing to do in such little time and all
  5. OK, seems Daegon got the all clear at the vet it's time for some tough love... Scales of Justice, if you're reading this...you guaranteed me that so long as he didn't have any other health issues he'd be a good eater in 3 days, I sure hope so! So far he didn't eat dinner last night, or breakfast this morning...he's eaten a very very small amount just now and he's looking rather skinny...makes me sad
  6. Is it possible for it to be a brain tumor? Or is that when the personality changes very suddenly?
  7. I have a cat with brain damage...yes, its not a dog obviously, but brain damage all the same. He was mauled by a dog when he was 10 weeks old and is very lucky to be alive. Straight after the incident he couldn't walk straight or eat properly, and tried to drown himself in the water bowl a few times I guess it took about 4 or 5 months for him to get back to any kind of normality...he's still got problems, but he's learnt to live quite well with them and its certainly made a wonderful impact on his personality...he is the most beautiful, placid cat you could imagine. He can be a bit odd though, he'll get into these moods where his behaviour is so different, he'll tear around the house making the strangest noises, it seems as though he's playing but then he'll "zone out" and have that blank look like nobody is home up there...know what I mean? I think its harder for me sometimes than it is for him...I have to watch him near roads because he has even less road sense than other cats (will sit in the middle of the road and not move...I've had to retrieve him numerous times and once a poor man had to stop his car and wait for me to get him because this cat just wasn't gonna move ). He also doesn't have any idea about danger...at all. He will sit on a fence with a savage dog trying to eat him and think its trying to play. I have a terror of a dog over the back fence, actually I think it should be classed as dangerous, it has gone for me over the fence and tried to pull one of my kittens down the other day :p As far as it getting worse with age...this cat is only 4 years old this year, so I can't comment too much on old age making things worse...but there hasn't been any improvement or decline in anything the last 2 or so years. But anyways, the cat seems very happy, yes sometimes when he tries to jump he will completely misjudge it and smack himself out, but all in all it seems much more difficult and stressful for me than it is for him. As IBite has said, it will depend on the animal, but they seem to cope a hell of a lot better than we do with all sorts of things...so long as they're happy
  8. OK, Daegon is back from the vet and has gotten the all clear, he also had his 10 week worming done while he was there. So...its tough love until this little guy eats from now on, even if he does drop weight, so long as he's OK in himself he's gonna go hungry until he stops his protesting. He has so far done really well today though, eaten twice, thats a record for him! Hopefully now he's gotten all the attention he wanted from the girls at the clinic he'll be right :D
  9. Thanks for the tips guys. I decided against hand feeding for the very reason you're talking about, I'm not going to let him beat me...and I have tried taking his food away after 10 minutes for about 5 days in a row and all he did was pick at the tiniest amount and he dropped a good deal of weight for such a small pup so just to get the weight back on him I left the food there. I know thats not a good thing to teach him to eat but I am more worried about his health first. He's off to the vet soon, so hopefully there's nothing going on with him physically and if I can get something like nutrigel so that at least he gets the calories and vitamins he needs then I will go straight back to letting him starve himself if thats what the silly bugger choses to do.
  10. Thanks Anne, I've been looking into that one online tonight and if the vet gives the all clear physically and he's still not eating enough then I think I might give it a go.
  11. OK, thanks for that...I'll only start it up then if Daegon does any good in the show ring and may have to travel.
  12. I was told by a vet when I asked about heartworm prevention once that there is no heartworm in Tasmania and so not to worry about it...does anyone know if that's true or not?
  13. OK, some good news...Daegon has eaten a little bit of kibble tonight, not much of course, but some is better than none right now. Hopefully the vet will give him the all clear tomorrow and maybe give me some hints on how to stimulate his appetite a bit more.
  14. Thanks Pandii...I hope it turns out to be nothing as well! LOL, Daegon doesn't miss his brothers and sisters either, I think they're all independent little buggers
  15. Oh Pandii...sorry if you thought I was agro at you! I'm certainly not He's just eaten a little bit of kibble, natural yoghurt and sardines now, but hardly anything, as usual...I bet that's all he eats today too He's got an appointment at the vet tomorrow for midday, so here's hoping they either tell me I'm a worry wart and he's a fuss pot or they'll work out whats wrong. A BIG BIG BIG BIG THANK YOU to ellz who has very kindly offered to do the run around for me
  16. Yep, I might take him to the vet poodle fan...can't get there till friday because I don't have any transport but if he's not eating decent regular meals by then he'll be at the vet...should I be worried about taking him in there before his vaccinations are complete though?
  17. Yep, I've done all that Pandii, I'm almost at my wits end with it to be honest, talk about worrying the crap out of me. Breeder says he's a stubborn s**t and not to worry too much, he is still well within himself you see. I swear he's just doing it to p**s me off Edited for swearing
  18. My 10 week old Rotty pup is not eating...I'm lucky if he'll eat once a day and even then its only a very small amount...he's only eaten one proper meal in 2 weeks. I've already done a search through here and I've tried the things that have been mentioned before...I'm trying to feed him Eukanuba and I've tried adding mince, sardines or natural yoghurt to it to no avail. I've tried tough love, he gets his meal for 10-15 minutes and then I pick it back up and try again in another 3-4 hours. But nothing is working. He has started losing weight and I don't want that, but I don't really want to start making him a fussy eating and letting him get away with things either because he's pushy now as it is. This is becoming so very frustrating and I don't know what to do anymore. Can anyone help me?
  19. OK...who is this butcher?? Me thinks I need to swap butchers...
