  1. Well it's not something I want to continue feeding but it was nice to finally see him walk off with a bigger belly than when he started. I tried him on Royal Canin tonight and he seems to like that too, so will be off to buy some ASAP.
  2. Tonight I bought one of those dog food roll things you get in supermarkets (butchers were closed, not possible to get other dog food until tomorrow). I think the brand was Platinum? Well my gawd Daegon scoffed THAT down! And then asked for MORE! Never has he done this with anything I've tried before, I was amazed. I've been having so much trouble trying to get him to eat but he's been doing a bit better lately. But tonight was just so good to see him eat like that, made me very happy. Just thought I would share with you guys since you'll all tried to help me so much with getting him to eat
  3. I hope she's feeling better soon TB, nothing worse than having an unwell pet and feeling like you can't do anything to help them
  4. He will eat 3 or 4 chicken wings in one meal (he's definately eating these as well). I've got ACV in their drinking water now and I'll get some vitamins to give to him as well. I have been feeding him the kibble/sardines/tuna/yoghurt etc in a bowl and I will leave the food there for around 10-15 minutes, he'll see me put it down, sniff at it then walk off to do something else.
  5. I don't think that Nutrigel is the way to go in this case...yes if he really does drop weight that would be something I would consider, but at the moment he is still very lively, not dropping weight, still very healthy, just very fussy and I don't want to make him even more fussy. The vet also agrees with ellz (as ellz took me and Daegon to the vets about this) that the Nutrigel is likely to make him more fussy and they wouldn't suggest it. I do however like the idea of feeding him what he will eat right now and cutting his meals back to two. I also agree Anne that he needs to look forward to his meals and perhaps if I feed him the chicken wings just for a little while he will look forward to eating and then I can start adding other things. I hope he snaps out of it soon as well Dru!
  6. Thanks for that Sharen Uh, I'm guessing the cooking liver smells pretty rotten then?
  7. Yep there was. He hasn't eaten it for quite some time now, I still offer it but wont touch it...perhaps I should find one of those slimy red things and put it right on the top and see what he does with it. Kovu who was fussy with the mince at first now loves it. After realising that he wasn't getting Bonnie anymore he figured he better eat it, now he hounds me for it as soon as I bring it home and try to sort it into bags
  8. I am going to say this one more time... it is not just the kibble he will not eat...it is also mince of any kind, sardines, tuna, yoghurt, cottage cheese etc etc. chicken wings are all that he will eat this is not just about the kibble ETA: must have been posting at the same time ellz
  9. I haven't tried the liver, so I'll give that a go. I've tried mixing things in with his food, and he just picks the thing he likes out and leaves everything else. Also, its not that I'm so insistant upon him eating kibble...he wont eat other things either.
  10. OK, I will explain. I am NOT forcing my dog to eat something he doesn't consider palatable...he wont eat chicken mince either! He wont eat tuna, or sardines, or beef mince. If I cared about how much I paid for dog food do you really think I'd go out and buy something so expensive?? NO. I bought the expensive food because I thought it would be good for him. I'm wanting him to eat it because he can't eat chicken wings his whole life. If he continually ate other things like mince and sardines etc etc I wouldn't worry...but he's not.
  11. I'm not sure I understand what you're saying, sorry. It doesn't bother me the price I paid for the food he's not eating...what bothers me is that he will only eat one thing. Chicken wings alone is not a very balanced diet.
  12. Ooh, it makes me so mad to see him scoff chicken wings and then sniff something else and walk away I'll try only offering him food twice a day for a bit and see if that gets him at least eating something both times...and I don't think he'll be getting any more chicken wings...he aint getting his icecream till he's eaten his damn greens And no ellz you will NOT be shouting a bag of dog food, you have plenty of mouths to feed in your own house! Thank you for you very kind offer however
  13. For a 13 week old puppy I don't think this is too many times per day to offer food...he doesn't eat it anyway so it's not like he's full
  14. Yes well, considering I eat pasta and tuna to feed these guys at the moment because work is non-existant changing to another kibble is not going to be possible right now. I agree with the chopping and changing ellz has said...he wont eat his kibble/tuna/sardines/yoghurt/mince or whatever but the eyes soon light up and the bum starts wagging when he sees the chicken wings ETA: the eat or starve option is what I have been doing, he will eat a meal (which is still not a huge amount of food, so I doubt the meal sizes are too big) and then he wont eat for up to two days, eat another meal and then repeat the cycle. I'm not sure about allergies, no matter what he eats his poos are not runny or any different, there has been no throwing up or itching or anything like that, so I really don't know
  15. Well, I don't think the kibble is rancid...every other animal in the house falls over backwards to get at it. This hasn't just been a kibble thing either, when I first brought him home I was feeding him on the BARF diet and he was refusing that after a day or so as well. Also, this pup has eaten kibble before at his breeders...I've asked their opinion and they think he is simply being very stubborn as some of the other pups from the litter are doing the same thing with all kinds of foods.
  16. I have tried feeding him in the kitchen while I'm not doing anything...removing all the other animals so he's not distracted...still wont eat. Tried the opposite so he thinks he's got some competition...still wont eat. I've tried feeding him in the backyard, still wont eat, in a crate, still wont eat. AAARRRR!! He was fed both dry food and a BARF kinda diet at the breeders, which I'm trying to continue, although with far more emphasis on the puppy kibble than the raw meats. So he has eaten this kind of thing before. I've tried putting sardines through it, tuna, yoghurt, CAT FOOD (he licked all the cat food off it then walked off ), I've tried soaking it in water, puppy milk etc. I know he's not sick or anything like that because he's still very lively, but I am concerned about him not growing properly because of this. ETA: he is being offered food four times a day, morning through till night. Also, the vet has reccommended feeding him puppy kibble. I am not comfortable feeding him a full BARF diet until he is at least 12 months old.
  17. I am seriously beyond frustrated with Daegon's not eating now. For those who don't know, Daegon is a 13 week old Rottweiler. I have been very firm with him...if he doesn't eat I take it away and offer it again later etc etc. Eventually he'll eat a full meal and then starve himself again until he can't take it anymore and he'll eat another meal. This is happening ALL the time...wont eat for 2 days, eat one meal, wont eat for the next two days eat one meal He doesn't appear to be growing very well, I'm guessing that's because he's lacking so many things in his diet because he wont eat anything? He is considerably smaller than the other males in the litter. He is still well within himself, drinking well, playing, happy and all that...JUST WONT EAT. Even with training, he doesn't seem very food orientated at all...he's far more interested in playing. I've tried just about everything to get him to eat and he wont. The only thing he seems interested in is chicken wings...and he can't eat those his whole life. I want him to eat puppy kibble as well as having other things, like chicken wings/necks, tuna, sardines etc. But he just wont eat anything except chicken wings/necks! I'm starting to find it difficult not to show my frustration with it, I know that's not going to help matters...but I'm very concerned about him not growing very well. He's been to the vet, he's physical health is fine. What should I do now?
  18. Bloody hell that's a good idea...where on earth do you get all this information Ellz?!

He sounds like he had a fantastic life, and you have shown him that one last act of love.
  20. Daegon seems to be eating better, yay! He ate 3 meals yesterday and has so far eaten everything I've given him today. I think he realised when he saw me go to take him bowl away that if he didn't eat it there and then he was going hungry again. Lets hope it stays this way...he's done this before, eaten for a day or two then stopped again...not backing down to him though ;)
  21. OK...THAT is a little too much kelpiecuddles. There is NO way I could handle my dog carrying around a horse leg
  22. Yes Pandii, a few of the pups from the litter have turned into stubborn little buggers apparently and are refusing food. No food/toy/anything aggression here with Daegon, Kovu is the one snatching toys and blankets away, but no snapping or growling or anything.
