  1. Yep, that's right. That's how I learnt...and if for a bit you have to stick your hand under her tummy just to let her know not to sit she'll get it. You're after a stand and I'm after an automatic sit. So I've told you how to to stand...how did you get the automatic sit?
  2. Is this stand, or stand for examination? My dogs will do stand, but try stand for examination and they think it's an invitation to lick you to death When I was teaching stand I used the sweeping command in front of the dog's face but didn't stop there and kept my hand moving down the side of the dog until I get to his hips. If your dog keeps going to sit place your hand under the dogs tummy near their hips. Not sure what you can do if she's a total wiggle bum everytime you touch her tough
  3. Thanks Sue I'm sure that Daegon just didn't understand what I was wanting him to do and I much prefer to train him in a way that doesn't apply any pressure or any kind of correction when he's learning what is asked of him. He's got the hang of it now
  4. Wow that little pug was so good!! I hope my guys can be that good one day. I find that I have my hands on my body when I do the stays...it's just comfortable
  5. Oh no Hope that temp comes down so he can stay home with you.
  6. Daegon is making my jaw drop with how quickly he is picking this obedience stuff up. Before Sunday he had never done a 'drop', 'stay', 'wait' or recall before...and just now here at home he's gone through each of the exercises for the grade one examination without a fault Even the timed stays! I cannot believe it! Of course doing that at training is something different with all the distractions. The only thing that never seems to get any better is the 'stand for examination'...Daegon thinks if someone comes over to him it means he gets to slobber all over them while wagging his entire backend I am so proud of him
  7. I'm glad the breeder is helping you out now...gorgeous puppy! Beautiful photos, thank you for sharing
  8. So sorry to hear this. RIP Sparkles
  9. Thank you SO much for the help so far guys, it really is very, very appreciated This is the old girl here I'm passing these suggestions onto my mum...she wants to know what vegetables to use if she were going to go that way?
  10. I am asking this question for my parents, hope you don't mind They have an elderly Staffy X, she's about 14 years old and a total sweety bless her heart. Over the past 6 months or so she has been leaking from the back end and had rather smelly breath. Very long story short, the vet thinks that her body isn't coping with the fats in her diet and so they're going straight through her so to speak. Something about her pancreas? Sorry if this is all a little confusing, my mum couldn't tell me very much. Tajah (puppy dog) has been fed a crap diet her whole life...cheap tinned and dry food...yes I've tried to tell them her WHOLE life So anyways, mum and dad have finally decided they'd like to try something new with her diet to see if it will help Tajah with this smelly, drippy problem she's having. I'm not sure if they'd go for a raw food diet, are there any particular kibbles that might be good for this kind of thing? Would just a good quality kibble help? Appreciate any information anyone can give
  11. It must be heart-breaking for you to see her like this, I'm so sorry you both are going through such an awful time
  12. Kovu wanting a snow ball, to have focus like that ALL the time
  13. Well where's the video of LL and Stamp?
  14. I have a few on my computer but I don't know the website they came from
  15. Krupps, another band I have never heard of!! |I am so old. Must look up their other songs. I have played the video half a dozen times so far, I am totally hooked on the tune, LOL. Ha, yes, it's a rather good one. Oh, and typo on my behalf, it is GermaniAc...sorry bout that I also don't like the skipping look in heeling...if your dog does this how can you make it stop?? I'm about to start taking my GSD Kovu through the training in drive course...REALLY looking forward to it! Still looking for the Krupps - I can only find the Die Krupps, is this the same band? Sure is

  17. Lablover, the song is Germanic by Krupps
  18. Ugh, had to download it twice because of an invalid handle Anyways! That's where I'd like my two to end up...without the cute hopping during heeling. Ahh, can only dream
  19. I hope you're not calling me short Yes, I think the foldback would be best to teach him so will keep working on it. While Daegon is submissive to me, he is dominant around other dogs, and when the collie in his class decided he see how he'd go trying to stand over Daegon he got an earful, and then Daegon got an earful from me So the dominance factor could be why he is not comfortable dropping in class. And it was very nice to meet you as well! The trainers at the club are happy and friendly and made me feel very welcome, and that helps a lot when you're a bit shy
  20. I think the name may have come from the fact that when the dogs were learning you had to keep your arm over them and growl when they moved, although my dogs don't move when I have them lying on the ground, well, not normally...and if they do, all they need is their name said and they know they're being naughty, bump goes the head back on the ground again...yes mum :D
