Thanks Kaz, she will be going to the vet if she hasn't passed something today Her tummy is much softer today, still full though.
-
Thanks Hounder Jaida still doesn't appear to have passed anything but she's still happy playing with the boys and generally being a nuisance towards the cats She's about to have her last dose of paraffin tonight (as well as PAL as advised by the vet), hopefully she will be wanting to pass something in the morning :D
-
If the vet thought she needed to be in there now, she would be. They are not concerned yet and are giving me the same advice they would be giving me had I taken her in.
-
Just an update I've spoken to another vet today who has advised to keep up with the paraffin for at least another 24 hours and also to start feeding her really watered down sloppy canned food (the boys are going to be so jealous ) If she hasn't passed anything by the end of the weekend they've said to take her in. Fingers crossed there's a whole bunch of movement soon!
-
Nothing She is more uncomfortable today, I think she's going to need an enema. Poor girl.
-
Ohh you changed it Yep, Jaida's dry skin has cleared up and her coat is good. Not that you can tell after she's been outside because it's a yard of dirt and the dogs have been digging to China I wuv her too, I'm going to find it so very hard when she leaves.
-
You'll be waiting a while, no idea why photobucket uploads so slowly An hour left Photos are in Jaida's thread ETA: love the new sigs FJ and RnB
-
She's starting to pass some wind now, hopefully that means things are starting to move
-
Yes SwaY, feel free to come cook...I might pass though FJ, she is back to looking like a fatty boomba now All that hard dieting and playing gone in a day...lucky it's all crap, better be anyways ETA: I'm getting some photos for you, she is STILL harassing poor Gomez, there's a video of her trying to get him to move, lucky my cats are so incredibly patient
-
She's had a second dose of paraffin about an hour or so ago. No movement at the station and a hard lower abdomen still She's currently harassing Gomez, so she's still feeling absolutely fine within herself.
-
The girl loves anything remotely edible, that's for sure
-
Thanks persephone. I did speak to the vet earlier today and he recommended trying the paraffin before bringing her in given her symptoms. If it doesn't work she will be going to the vet for treatment ETA: she took the paraffin out of the bowl herself...complete hoover
-
@ SwaY I've just gotten back with the paraffin, I hope she takes it easily or else I'll be syringing the stuff down her throat cavNrott, Jaida is happy to be sleeping in one spot, she's not at all restless. She's more just walking a bit slower, little bit stiff and is a tad slower getting up and down. She just looks uncomfortable some of the time, but she's still playing, still hoovering anything possibly edible and is comfortable. Hopefully it's just constipation! How long should the paraffin take to work? I don't want to leave her inside when I go out for a bit soon if she's going to have to go to the toilet, I don't want her getting panicked. But I don't want to leave her outside with the boys while I'm not here either in case she doesn't want to play.
-
Thanks again Sway, I'll head up there now I hope she's feeling better soon, poor baby girl
-
Thanks SwaY I've just spoken to a vet as I had to make a payment on an account anyways. He seems to think as she's still wanting to eat and play and is only mildly uncomfortable (she was only showing pain when she first moved this morning) that she's just constipated. So now I'm on the hunt for some paraffin as I've read that softens things and works pretty fast. Anyone know where I can get some of that? If she's still not OK obviously she will be off to the vet
-
Jaida's tummy is still hard today and she's still in pain. I'm trying to find transport to the vet.
-
I have just checked the dogs before going to bed and Jaida didn't come to the door like she usually does. Checking her over she has a hard abdomen and when I gently had a feel she whined. She is still trying to eat (she found something on the ground) and is still happy to chew her toys. She looks a bit uncomfortable and her tummy has expanded a little, but other than that she's normal. At first I thought bloat, but the only dry food she's had today was 1/2 a cup 13 hours or so ago. Her tummy isn't drum like either and she's not distressed. I checked her again and she's not whining when I touch her tummy now. Is it possible it's just a build up of gas or something?

Yeah Ruger just said I'd been at the gym for ages...I always forget to change the stoopid status
-
Do they have him on something like Thrive D, enzyplex or Creon? Maybe suggest they also feed him Vets All Natural Complete Mix, it helps the dog absorb the nutrients from their food better. My dad's dog has started putting on weight after a huge change in diet, although she has EPI. Are they 100% sure it's diabetes?
-
I would be thinking worms from all that you've posted. Has he been wormed recently?
-
OK here are a few photos...mum didn't end up having one of her just before she started the new food...but the difference between then and these photos now is just incredible, she was honestly a walking skeleton with skin hanging off. ETA: the photo over the top of her, 2 weeks ago all you could see was ribs jutting out all over the place, I just can't believe the difference in such a short amount of time!

I'm so sorry ;) RIP Abby ;)
-
I don't know sorry. I will find out on Wednesday when I go to visit and let you know ;)

I believe it's called Creon, and it's around $75 for 100 tablets. Tajah is currently on two a day, one with each meal. Once she's reached her healthy weight which is just above 20kg she will be taken back to one meal a day depending on how she holds her weight. You can get a script for Creon written up by your vet and pick it up at a chemist.
