I picked the following: Jumps on people - It's something I definitely need to work on because when you have a 25kg dog jumping at you, it can hurt! Its only when people come to the house really, and I dont get a lot of visitors, so I might have to enlist some people to door knock for me to practice Rushes Doors - He doesnt really rush unless he is extremely excited (or someone comes over) and I am not consistent with him, so thats my fault. He does know how to give me space at the door most of the time. Escapes confinement - Bosco is the houdini of the dog world. Nothing keeps him in except his roofed, solid floored, four walled run! He can jump 6+ foot fences, and if he cant go over, he eats through it, which is why I cant leave him in the house alone... He has already gone through an internal door and destroyed carpet. Its mostly due to his seperation anxiety, which I still need to work on because I have been slack with that. Other undesireable behaviour - He is not a barker, but when someone comes over, I cant shut him up! Definitely something I want to try to work on. I dont necessarily want to stop him from barking if someone comes into the yard/door, because I live on my own, but it would be nice if he stopped when I asked him too. Other than that, he is a pretty good boy.

Its been two years today since you left this world to join all the other angels across the Bridge. Not a day goes by that I dont think about you, and wish that I could see your beautiful face once again. Its been longer since I have seen you, than you actually spent with us, but I will never forget you my Princess. You were one in a million, and I am just grateful that you found me when you did. Whoop it up at the Bridge Loki dog, and one day I know we will meet again. Love you Loki Mum and Bosco xxx

This was actually suggested to me a couple of times when I was having trouble recently with my dog peeing in the house. I didnt try it, because I managed to work around the trouble by locking him in my room with me at bed time

Bosco had his vacs just the other day, and I got the 3 year C3, but was also told that I still need to vac for KC every 12 months. He also has his heartworm injection every year. He had a needle for the KC though, not intranasal?

Poor Cody After being to the behaviourist about Bos, we are now currently training to be 'calm'. I literally have to do excercises with him (basic stuff like sit, wait, stay etc) but I am not allowed to praise him until he is in a calm state. Then I have to escalate the excercises to include jumping, clapping etc, in different rooms in the house and then down the track, out in the open (I will be making sure no one is around! ) Eventually it will get to the point where I can leave him for short bursts without him carrying on like a pork chop! He is also on Endep to help calm him down, which in turn helps him to learn a bit easier without being anxious. Im not sure how any of this can help you with Cody, because I think Bosco has gone beyond the stage of madness :p , but I have a booklet on phobias and anxiety here if you ever want to borrow it? Its actually quite interesting, the behaviourist put it together for me when I first went in. As for the stuff to keep him happy while you are out, I dont know. I havnt figured that out myself! The only place I can keep Bos when I am not home is in the run, unless I want a loose dog, or a destroyed house. And when he is in there, he does not play with anything nor use treatballs etc. He waits until I get home to let him out, then he goes nuts :p Give Cody a bit hug from me and a kiss from Bos

You havnt met Bosco Bos was the smallest in his litter, and although he was touch and go initially, he grew up to be a healthy, lovely boy. I would be really interested to see his littermates now, because he is much bigger than I would have expected him to grow, especially considering the size he was when he was a pup.

I have LOTS of some type of funny wet stuff in my eyes at all the beautiful tributes to so many precious dogs. Harminee, you are an angel.... These portraits are amazing! Thank you for giving DOLers who have lost there loved ones a chance to see them again in a very special way.

My Dogs Keep Jumping The Fence
lokelani replied to lovebug's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Bosco is also an amazing escape artist. He has scaled 6+ foot fences, pushed through gates, and eaten through gates He is now kept in a run whenever I am not at home, with a concrete floor, so he cant dig out of it, and it is fully enclosed with a roof, so he cant climb or jump over it. It is about 2 meters high, but I wouldnt put it past him to get out of it given the opportunity! My run is also fully portable, so if I ever need to move house, I can take it with me. And being portable, it is not a permanent fixure in the house, therefore the landlord should not have a problem with it. It can be a little costly, and may take a bit of hard yakka to put it together, but to be honest, I would rather outlay a bit of cash and time, than to find my dog had gotten out and caused trouble, or worse, dead. -
Kaffy, I am sooo sorry to hear of your loss. I have no words, but I am sending plenty of these Harminee, that is a beautiful picture. RIP little man
