Thanks BC4Me .... regards the feeding, he has digestive issues so I get a bit limited on what I can feed him. It depends on what he will eat at the time, but beef is a proven no-no and he doesn't do great on chicken. But I'll bear your tip in mind. Appreciated.

My boy's second and last vaccination was when he was about 12 or 13 weeks. I had him titred a few weeks ago and the titre results have come in as being very good. My boy is rising 4 years old. I like your Vet .

If the pup was vaccinated at 8 weeks of age, wouldn't giving another 2 weeks later be a bit too much on top of each other?

At this stage, it's a hypothetical, but for my boy, it is a possibility. And it relates to at least the very rear molar, if not others having been affected. I will of course be asking the Vet and I should have done so when the Vet phoned me yesterday to let me know we need to x-ray for this purpose and will do this before a teeth clean .... except as I looked out the window my dog was doing a vomit and I got a bit distracted. I was probably caught a bit off guard as well, as I'd been working to cure him of what we've until now only thought of as gum ulcers, and although that concern has had gravity, I didn't think beyond that. The Vet hasn't said or suggested extraction would be necessary if there was an abscess at the root of the tooth - in fact there were no suggestions at this stage. I'm only going by my own experience where I've had to have a couple of teeth removed because of abscesses. I would like some opinions and recounts of experiences if possible, just to arm me as to what possibilities out there that there can be. For example, any success stories where antibiotics have solved the problem, rather than tooth extraction. I'm quite concerned about this as for such a young dog (rising 4yo) and for what I'd consider to be major teeth, this is potentially going to represent the beginning of more problems . ETA: There's nothing much I can do over the Easter break except worry. <sigh> Oh well, one way to shed some excess weight of mine, lol.

A question that is slightly off topic, although perhaps not ..... If a couple of teeth are coated with plaque/tartar, but Plaque Off is being used and is having some effect, will the plaque/tartar that is under the gum-line dissolve away too, or is that something that needs to have canine dental attention?

Possibly, or perhaps the onset of a bout of conjunctivitis. I have found that it tends to occur when the immune system is compromised. If you have some saline solution handy, I'd irrigate his eyes with that. Or, if you have some Calendula Tea at hand, brew up a small amount, let it cool, and irrigate with that.

My opinion is that I should be able to do what I want to do when I want to do it (around my dog/s, I mean). So when I choose which dog I want to pay attention to, that's my choice and I expect other dog to defer to my choice. I tend to use my body to block the dog trying to 'cut in'. (Eg. not letting the dog come between us and me turning my back on the dog trying to cut in. I basically otherwise ignore the dog that is trying to cut in.) When that dog 'yields'(for want of better words) and defers to my choice, then I turn my attentions to him/her. I would randomise the order the attention is given at though.

Treasure all the joys she gives you each day and remember that she lives in the moment and she'd want you to, as well. Knowing you are helpless is really hard - I went through that scenario with Kal, my avatar girl, who I had to give wings to 5 years ago. So don't dwell on that you can't do anything, but just focus on making what you do do, as normal but as nice and as fun as possible for the both of you. Sending you my very best wishes.

If she doesn't live under your roof, there's not much you can do other than to make sure she is and remains responsible to that puppy, in sickness (I hope that's not the case) and in health.

My boy did the same/similar. Keep an eye on him and let him rest as much as he is able. You should see improvement from here onwards, over the next few days ....IME. I think you said you were giving Pippa the AMH as well? If so, that's good and I'd keep it up, although she won't be needing as much as Ziggy. ETA: I presume he's still eating ok? Wet food is best - if his throat is sore the dry kibble is a bit hard to get down and the discomfort can put them off.

I hope Panda's nail heals well, Luvsdogs. This may not prove to be helpful for you but I once needed to keep my sister's dog "Monty" (RIP) white socks pristine clean (story of why irrelevant to this thread). I slid a plastic bag on each foot and then slid a sock over each bagged foot. These stayed on successfully at least for the supervised toilet stop. You just need to be careful as the plastic bags can be slippery, so the socks need to be nice firm elastic ones.

I agree with Pav - I don't buy anything less than UMF 15 but prefer 25 and upwards, if I can get it. Comfortable on 20, if there is nothing more. But it does get xxy as the UMF increases. The 10 would have helped sooth the throat a bit, SL, but the ^ UMF means there's more of the "active" stuff in it, which means it would do more in terms of antibacterial etc.

Sounds good, SL. You'd be referring to the honey's "UMF", I think. Actually, they've changed that now and many brands have a different word and coding for it. But if you got the good stuff and it is a medium to high UMF number (or equivalent), then it should help him as it has my boy in the past. In fact my boy gets a teaspoon of the AMH when I hear a suspicious cough from him or if I think he's a bit on the flat side. If it isn't CC then no big deal. If it is, then I'm getting in as quick as one might. Watch the water amount too. Although this was when my boy was only about 4-5 months old (first CC episode), but I over-did the honeyed water. He wasn't finished his toilet training at that time and it ended up with wee everywhere. I'd not even get to finish cleaning up one unexpected accident and there he'd be, peeing like there was no tomorrow in another spot. This went on another time or two. I expect a more adult bladder would be different and better, but just a caution on not over-doing the water, especially before bed-time.

SL - my boy has had CC twice in his life (he's 4yo now). Each time the cough only lasted for about 2 days MAXIMUM (Manuka Honey does ). He'd be noticeably lethargic for about one day beyond the coughing, then improve from there. And when I say "noticeably" I don't mean "extremely", I just mean lethargic enough that I could tell I wasn't imagining it. Eg. Day 1 of lethargy was a fair amount of sleep than normal and a bit on the 'flat' side in between. Day 2 was a bit quiet. After that he sprang back like any other youngster would from contracting a cold or flu. Keep Ziggy quiet and in a draft free environment - treat as you would anyone with a cold/flu. The AMH with water is great as it encourages them to drink and keeps them hydrated. Give some doses of the honey in between, just off the teaspoon, if Ziggy will take it. (My boy thinks it is a treat :).) Even when Mandela bounced back to his usual energetic self, I kept things low key for a full week beyond and didn't take him out and about. A vacc for Pippa? Not my field of expertise but I'd think that her exposure to it via Ziggy would give her the immunity you'd be enquiring about at the Vet. So IMO, I don't think there'd be a lot or much point.

Would be equivalent to C3, I would have thought. C4 comprises the 3 core diseases + one strain of CC. C5 comprises the 3 core diseases + two strains of CC. I don't have any knowledge of the vaccine you mention, sorry. But if you wanted your dog to be vaccinated for the one or two strains of Canine Cough, I'd be doing that as separate and I think to do so, it would need to be with the live vaccine nasal spray. But don't count on my information as I don't do this.

I doubt that it would have any affect, but I'd be inclined to wait until the antibiotic course is completed - simply from the pov that if your dog had a reaction (not that this has been the general case with the PlaqueOff, but you never know), you'll be wondering if it was the antibiotics or the PlaqueOff.

Great that you're being vigilant but, on the basis of what you've written and that, if it is anything, it is likely to be the same gastro problem as the others, I wouldn't be panicking. In the absence of any other issues, I'd probably fast for a day if the diarrhoea symptoms are persisting tonight. Make sure your dog has access to plenty of clean fresh water. If there is no worsening and if your dog is otherwise quite well and happy, I'd probably give it a day or two to see if it will come good - but that's me. I'm not a Vet nor an expert. ETA: I'd not be taking your dog out anywhere or asking too much of her - for her sake and for all the other doggies in the area. Also be careful that you're not spreading the condition by going from one dog to the next. Don't need the bug spreading into an endemic ;).

Fantastic that you're doing agility with her - great confidence and self esteem booster and it really seems as though she needs it. The others have given some good suggestions. I don't know who is teaching you at agility nor what they've suggested, but in case you're using "oh oh" (or similar) as a non-reward marker (if you're using a NRM at all), change it to something like "whoops!!" so that it maintains an upward swing in your voice. It's only been a few months since you acquired her. I think you'll be able to look back before long and recognise how much more confident she's become since you've had her. For the drops, is she into food? If so, have you tried the Lure + Under Leg combination? She's the sort of dog where training needs to be set up so that she gets to make the decisions, but set up so that she can win easily.

I looked at the first photo of me, stopped at it because it had similarities but seemed simultaneously foreign. David needs a slap on the wrist for letting those slide without photo-shopping. ETA: I love the one of Helen giving me the hug, wrapping me further in the love and spirit that the quilt, already around me, gives. And btw, I thought the photo's of you were lovely :).

I love to hear/see the 'passion' talking when people debate different points of view. The only thing I don't like is when it turns to personal attacks, name calling, things that are directed to the personality of the post's author etc. That used to occur a lot here on DOL (good strong, even heated, debate, I mean). Controversy is not handled as well as it used to, here, IMO. The threads derail or are derailed a lot faster. Don't know why. But it is still a fantastic community and what I have seen is people having a spat and then the same people rallying for one another when they find out the chips are down in real life for the other.

Ignore Dex - just have him where you know he sees you, and YOU go make yourself comfortable at the site of the fire hearth. Sit/lay there. If he comes over, just treat him as though he's come over to you when you were sitting/laying elsewhere. Don't make a big deal about it. In fact, make nothing of it at all. If he doesn't come over to you, don't worry about it. Repeat another time or two or three.
