  1. Have never been able to predict the future Hogz
  2. http://www.allorashow.org.au/pdf/Map.pdf Theres a map of the grounds Miss B, Toilets/showers are typical camping amenities, and not too far from the dog rings. Showers arent marked on the map but are in the toilet block. I think camping usually happens in the car parking area which on the map is between the dog ring and the stadium. Be aware that there are fire works and a demolition derby on the saturday night. I am an Allora resident :D so anything else you would like to know just ask
  3. What would you like to know Miss B?
  4. Thankyou, I never thought it would hurt this much. I sit and try to write the words, I want your heart to hear. Hoping to find some comfort, in the fact that your not here. I look out into the open field, that you once occupied, Knowing now that field is empty, because my love, you've died. I do believe with all my heart, that your soul has gone to be, With all the other angel souls, that you were meant to see. We will have to stay behind, until god calls us too So do not be afraid, that he's only called for you. The water is still, in the pond that you played, And your bed is empty, where your pretty head laid. Our bed is empty, where you once laid between, the two people who loved you and now only dream, that one day our eyes will shut one last time, and you will come to greet us, angel of mine. Until then, I'll keep trying to see through the tears, with memories you left us, to reflect through the years. We'll never forget one minute we spent, of loving and laughing, the places we went. And I dread the day that your sent disappears, for it's "proof" to me, that you were just here! But one day will come, when we'll remember just "you". Now you go and play, and look down when you can' remembering we love you,and this isn't the end. This poem expreeses all that we here are feeling, and is an adaptation of A Golden goodbye, by Holly W.Gray for Shockie the golden retriever.
  5. After weeks of watching you deteriorate I made the hardest decision of my life today. I know it was the right thing to do, and it was selfish of me to prolong your suffering, but I cant stop crying. RIP my baby girl, I miss you terribly already.
  6. Louie sweetheart, you will be sorely missed. You were the sweetest, most stunning little man, in nature and in looks. Se you on the other side buddy.
  7. Have done, I treated both dogs, the cat and the entire yard. And I will have to continue to treat the yard because the bloody cats from up the road just wander around the neighbourhood I didnt find any infested areas though, which is good I suppose. My back and legs are killing me from all the bending washing and tweezering out of fleas, and carrying the heavy spray pack around.
  8. Usually I give Star the sentinel spectrum, but because of the price I was buying it on line and forgot to order some before I ran out ( I know, how hard is it to remember to order before the month is up ) so was treating her with another heartworm product. Will go back to sentinal now, as the allergy isnt worth taking a chance on her getting fleas again. I feel like a bad mummy
  9. Well, I have now swabbed both dogs with the stuff, and sprayed the entire yard with it... as luck would have it it is now starting to rain Hasnt rained here in well over a month and the day I spray the yard it showers! About to change heartworm meds back to Sentinel (next dose) just to be on the safe side again
  10. We havent had a problem before... There are cats that continually roam around the place, and I have had issues with the owner in the past over his lack of care of all his animals, (and because on the odd occasion my cat has gone out to toilet, his cats have attacked her - she refuses to go out at all now). It's my guess that all his animals are infested, and add to that the fact that he has a dozen chooks and geese in his yard, the co-incidence is too great for my liking. The dogs across the road have them too. And we have actually limited their exposure to each other for this reason, much to Megs disgust! But its the same with the cats roaming in their yard as well.
  11. Thankyou so much Janba!!! I couldnt find anything like that when I searched! Have been to the shops and had a choice between a maldison based and a diazinon based product, I got the maldison based. so I will go and treat the dogs with it, and spray the yard with it too, but I will treat the cat with capstar although she basically stays inside and I havent seen any on her (prevention is probably better than trying to rid her of them she is a cranky old b!+c#)
  12. www.floreatvet.com.au/florvetupdate.html They are horrible little blighters and get in between the dogs toes, around their eyes and muzzle and in and around their ears, and actually bury into the skin (for want of a better explanation!) They're usually found on poultry.
  13. will capstar kill stickfast fleas as well as the normal fleas? I have two dogs to treat, but will be treating the cat as well.
  14. Forgot to mention, but I think it was frontline spray. Anyone have any ideas???
  15. What is the best way to rid a dog of stickfast fleas? I went into my vet yesterday and they recommended spray, and tweezering out the dead ones. But I have also been told that malawash is better, and to tweezer them out as well. As one of my girls has a flea allergy I'm looking for the best way to kill them longterm, not necessarily to quickest way to remove them - I dont care if I have to sit and tweezer them out for the next 10 days, (it will probably take me that long to get through my girls long thick coats anyway ) I just want them gone asap!
  16. Congrats on the decision to bring a golden puppy in to your home. I have two GR's- one is a huge digger the other wouldnt dig to save her life! We found she would dig holes in the yard after any rain we had, or in our freshly dug garden beds - but a low (30cm)chicken mesh fence and some bamboo stakes work well to keep them out of the garden. We addressed Megs digging by giving her a "sandpit" just for her to dig in, actually she claimed the kids sandpit (but they were happy for her to have it) and whilst she had the sandpit to dig in we had no holes in the yard at all.... I have since placed our bird aviary over the sandpit and we have holes popping up everywhere again .... with summer coming soon I will be buying one of those plastic clamshell pools for the dogs and filling one side with water and the other sand.
