at this point I'm not sure! I'm still researching!

I'm aiming to provide alternatives to commercial prepared food . So the main meals are goign to be designed so that people can feed it to their dogs everyday if they want and the treats are literally treats. I work at a vet surgury so I have access to resources that not everyone has!

well my 2008 brags!! Jock is flying in his agility! in ADAC at his first trial he gained a pass and 4th in Novice Jumping, a 6th and a pass in Novice agility! and in ANKC another pass in his novice jumping one more and it'll be Jock JD!!!!

wow thanks guys for your support! thansk for the answers too!! GayleK thanks for the recipe I may use the basis of it and modify it cos I'm creating most of the recipes from scratch! so far I have made a full on cake!! including icing! hahahha It went down a treat so much that the dog was on the table eating it off the plate!!!

After much disussion with my teacher and my parents I am designing a cookbook for dogfoods; so far it has a cake, few biscuits but no real meals! I have ideas but I need to get a few things confirmed by DOLers in the know as well as googling it! Some of these questions sound dumb but I seriously have never thought of it cos I don't feed my dogs homemade, I mostly feed them veges, commercial biscuits and chicken wings and rice and pasta! Can you feed a dog Raw mince?? Can you feed a dog cooked mince? As long as it doesn't contain bones is any cooked meat okay for dogs?? Besides meat whatelse do you feed your dog <not treats> Thanks!! Sam

lol Well you will only be meeting jock cos snoopy will be at home cos he doesn't trial anymore!!! lol lazy puppy. Well hope 2 c u soon lol let me know if ur coming!!

hahahaha nice lol! everyone has their own methods!! lol Agilityoodle you should so come to April's Deerbush even if ur not trialing just come down watch and walk the courses and have a fun time lol! The target training lol I did that a fair bit with Jock but I got over teaching it and jock got over learning it lol! so we're working as we go now I'm retraining his dog walks. But Jockjs always been a good dog at running doen the whole dogwalk and not jumping off but now I'm getting slwer and he's getting faster its heaps harder so teaching him is helping lol i'm teaching stop two on two off lol the Aframe is a slide down to the bottom lol its probably different for u guys ahving larger dogs lol!! As for the weaving well at my club we used netted weaves but we progressed right up to open weave lol All I have to practise is a clean entry from another obstical lol! so far its stop wait okay weave !! But its coming so much better hahahahahahaha!!

thanks. Um I may be on msn sumtime in the next little while but I'm working hard on a few other things lol and i'm working 2nite so I won't be on at all! but I will get on sumtime soon lol I'm typing this during bio class Jock and I are heading off to Deerbush trial on April 20th so that should be fun as he's doing so well and I'm really proud of him. Question: how did you teach Nina to weave?? and Contact?? I'm using the guided weave method and the two on two off for contacts, The A-frame is hard to teach a little dog how to touch on lol so I just make sure he slides right to the bottom of the frame!! Have you got all your registry paper work back yet?? I hope so lol and I'll take fotos of Nina If I'm at that trial I plan on being there!! lol I'm no where near as a good at photography as vickie but I do have a newish camera so we'll see what I can do lol!! Email me if you want I'm happy to talk! Sammii-Michellii

Well here are sum picks taken by vickie of my boys training and trialling lol Jock on his first ever time seeing equipment! Training a few months ago! Snoopy flying over a jump!! lol and snoopy is my signature dog so yeah lol there are a few pics of my boys! Well lets see whats happening, last week jock did about 3 hrs of training and he's coming along so well, he's finally begining to hit his contacts which has taken alot of work and his weaving is going really well but he doesn't do it perfect everytime! so we will work on it! His listening toi me is getting better to probably cos my handeling is getting so much better as I learn more lol!

-
Hey all well at the end of the year I'm packing up my life and moving it temporarily to QLD for a while lol but to keep myslef going while i'm away from Sydney I plan on still trialing Jock in agility although talking to my aunty in QLD about it she seems to be under the impression that certain clubs will only let Purebreds trial and jock is a shelter pup so he doesn't really classify as a pure bred. so I was wondering what are the requirments to trial a dog in agility in QLD and how would I go about changing his registration from Dogs NSW to the canine body up there!! so many questions! Sorry all but I gotta find answers to them thanks Sam
-
awwwwwwwww pity theres not one in NSW oh well it gives me sumthing to go for next year when I have relocated up to QLD
-
Well surfing the net and my old bookmarks I found the website for ADAC agility and now i'm thinking it may be a good way to enter more trials and get myself the confidence in the ring while running jock in a possibly smaller comp. I'd still do AKC trials I just feel the more practice the better because the only the way to improve in comps is to go in more does anyone Do Adac and can they explain the set up to me a bit more and would you reccomend it to a still novice handler with one pass under her belt?? Thanks Sam
-
my trialing goal.. hmmm probably to get snoopys back into his agility and have him enjoy it!!!.. With Jock probably to improve on my handling with him cos he does a great run its just my shotty handeling that stuffs him up!! A pass would be nice but is not essiential!
-
hey guys Ive been doing agility for almost 2 years now and I love it! lol we have been trialing for a year or so and so far have 1 pass in Novice Jumping <jock> Snoopy on the other hand is temporarily retired lol!! I'm always up for training~ Just I'm limited cos I'm finishing school this year and need to study hard!

My cat sooty was PTS today unfortunatley she had kindey failure and we didn't pick it up till it was too late. Sooty Bear was my first ever pet that I had that wasn't a goldfish.. I always hoped you'd see my 18th little girl but I guess you'llse it from rainbow bridge.. Thanks Soots for all the cuddles and scratches over the years and I hope you find a patch of grass to sun yourself on. You won't be forgotten
-
I love this trick it took jock 2 days to learn it and I'm so proud of him!! there is a video coming
-
Well our big brag for today!!! Jock and I gained a pass in novice Jumping!!! we came 11th with a time of 26.06 on a course of 32 sec! he took off at one satge and he was standing outside the ring as I was going "Chute, Chute, chute" and you could see the wheels ticking in his head for the 5 sec he wasted! going hmmmmmm do I listen to mum or do I do my own thing!!! WE PASSED!!!!!
-
What are the dietry requirments for dogs ie amount of protein Fats Carbs Minerals ect as I'm looking at re doing the dogs diets and want to make sure that they are reciving all their daily requirements
-
Wow it sounds like alot of people have been having great times with their puppies!! I have been training Jock since the day I got him but in the last few months I have been training him to lie down from a distance <I have seen a few people do it with their dogs in agility and figured it would be some use to me> and whenever I go outside to the dogs before there are any cuddles I make Jock sit and I walk away and ask him lie down! AND HE DID IT!!!!! so I put him to the test and the other day I was walking round the yard doing my own thing and got jock to sit at a distance and said lie down and he hit the deck like there was a bullet heading for him!!! SO proud of my little monster!!
-
thanks for the advice everyone! the good news is Oscar is not being clipped!!!! Instead just a trim to even up his tail and ears and a good coat king to get some of the excessive hair out of his coat! Thanks again!

Whats Actually In Cheap Tinned Dog Food?
smisch replied to ncarter's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I am not a big fan of tin food, most nights most of mine get dryfood and then they will recieve an egg and a chicken wing at least once a week but I have dicovered one tin of dog food I do like.. My Dog: the tin with the light green label off the top of my head I think it is contry lamb veges and pasta! I open the tin and there is real pasta and veges in there and they make up majority of the tin! so aregualr soup tin size of that will last my two a fortnight! the resluts of being fed on tin food are not pretty... when we got snoopy he was nothing but skin and bone due to the shelter only being able to feed him tin food cos thats all they had.. when we went to pick him up we left them a 20kg bag of dry food! I feel sorry for all those dogs who only get fed tin food... the stuff stinks and its full of nothing its like a human living off gravy and water for their whole life, I have educated all my friends who have gotten dogs don't feed them tin its not worth it!!! -
hi guys, A Friend of mine has a 3yr old retriever who is in need of a good clip and trim.. I have volunteered myslef for the job, does anyone have a suggestion of what a retriver clip is (golden retreiver) not anything terribly fancy he's nota show dog just a very well loved pet! I can clip and own a pair of clippers and I can trim using sizzors but not to professional quality just enough that it looks half way to well done! so any sort of plan is appreciated! I did trim and clip jock the other day I think he looks quiet good but his back end is short due to the matting (I hae been away for a week so no one ended up brushing him), so he now looks like a short coated shelti!!! I will put up photos of before and after.. Thanks
