I wouldnt mind doing one but I have a feeling that it'd be that'd die not the dogs.. I would like to see Ella the lowcchen get her ET - I think she may be the first in OZ but would have to check - but we have 0 obedience and she needs some serious conditioning.. Den would love it but once again I think he would need alot of conditioning and not to mention I'd need a bike lol and learn how to ride hahahaha!

Cfs I fully agree with your post since changing my attitude of just trying to get what I get at home and forgetting about everything else I have found both den and I are having fun Well all our enteries but opens are paid for Den so we shall see you guys there

They May Not Be Champions Yet...
smisch replied to Vickie's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Their resemblance is uncanny! They have slightly different markings but their bodies are identical. It was great to see them have so much fun Pep settled down & she & Chloe managed a 1st place NQ in Novice Jumping with a really nice run & a 3rd place Q in Novice Jumping They gave everyone positive spirits for the day me thinks they had such a great time! -
While you're here, can I ask a favour? The title has been bugging me for ages There is a u in Youtube I realised this the other day lmao! I'll change it now.. gotta love touch typing :p

Good idea I'd forgotten I'd even started this thread

Megan I never said that this dog had any form of agility or training I was relfecting on my own personal experiences with my BC we may do something as simple as Start Line Stays just to tire his brain out, there are many little things people can do for that without even touching equipment. It was just my persona; relfection nothing to do about what the OPs dog may or may not do

+1 to that OH inspected the property and handed in our application on the spot, generally agents go on a first come first serve basis with applications well atleast thats what ours explained to us, from what I remember it was drivers licence, passport if you had one, medicare card, and 2 things that gave evidence of last address and 2 payslips to prove your earnings. Just make photocopies of all of those and you should be set

I second this, I have an almost 4 yr old BC who is lucky if once a fortnight gets a walk but we do alot of menatally draining things at home like agility work and tricks and playing with his toys and we live in suburbia and he is fine even after coming off 2 acres where he ran all day, occasionally barks but is happy to play with our other dogs or sleep or talk to the neighbours dogs along the fence line never an issue. Its sounding to me a few things - the dog is starting to age you never truly know the age of a dog from the pound my BC was told he was about 3 by the pound based on his physical build and everything. The vet checked him out told different due to his teeth structure and the fact as well in the 12 months I had him he grew taller and matured out. There is the possbility with this that he is simply getting old and is maybe not as interested in toys and playing all the time. Someone else has already said that laying in holes is cooler for the dog which is true, I also had thoughts of it being a stress related behaviour for him he digs due to stress something may have happened while you werent there or something you have done has trigger this behaviour and you may not even know it, Den exhibits different behaviours when he iss stressed, I had a little mop dog who licked his feet when stressed. Has he got a bed or something to lie on? ours have Dozers as well as a trolley and a run to go to during the day but often Ill look outside and find them chilled on the back steps I would be getting the dog checked out and just spend time with him, try some clicker training, provide him with things like kongs for stimulation, bones for a treat and a change, add a sandpit so he can dig if your that worried about the digging behaviour, I think if the vet rules out health then stress less he may simply have settled and doesnt feel the need to be a feral typical bc as mine is.

Hey Ashley Dont stress about it my partner and I just had this experience and we thought it was impossible, Not true. We're now in a little 2 bedroom house in suburbia with a great sized yard for an afghan and a border collie A few things we took away from the experience was to look at older properties sure they dont have all the fancy stuff but alot of the time newer places with fancy landscaping and such owners are reluctant to let pets in there. We ended up going for an older house that had a simple grassed yard, we were very honest on our application about the dogs I didnt include resumes but instead a simple personal letter to the owners to explain our situation with the dogs as our dogs are show and trialling dogs, I also offered to contriubute extra towards a "pet bond" to give the owners a peace of mind ( I understand that its apparently illegal for certain states to do that) but I wanted to show them I was serious, I also included basic information about our dogs just stating their breed and their ages nothing fancy and nothing to over the top because at the end of the day if theey have 20 applications to read through, they dont wanna have to read a 50 page essay on why they should pick you. Thats just my opinion take it or leave it, we were sucessful with the property we applied for, the real estate and landlord are fully aware that we have a 3rd little one who comes and goes and they are fine with that. keep it honest and keep it simple I think are the two things I took away from the whole experience Good luck, feel free to pm me if you want to ask any other questions and good luck

Worst Excuses For Re-homing Or Surrendering A Pet
smisch replied to PeiPei's topic in General Dog Discussion
My Little sheltie who stayed with my parents due to his age and not coping with another move poor boy will be 12 soon and is going deaf as. God he had a great story to go with him when we found him in the shelter, first they told us he had already been PTS even though 5 minutes prior we had been playing with him at his pen Door. when asked about why he was here we got "oh he's an escape artist" when asked what sort of fences did they have "oh a barb wire fence" well that aint gonna keep much in. we were also told he was terrible horrible dont ever leave him with a child. I have so many people vouch he is the only dog you could trust with a child friends had their little 12 month old who had discovered her feet and used to wander away from the group when we were at the park just across the oval where we could still see her and of course off went jock with her and no one worried cos if anyone he didnt know came too close he'd sit there and bark until someone came and got the toddler. Most placid and loving dog I have ever owned -
We had an uneventful night Put Den the BC in his run which is an old avery for the evening and brought Ella in and put her in her crate and Xanthe the afghan had her run of the yard which involved her going to her bed under the house and sleeping. We actually ended up going to sydney at evry last min from the central coast, no issues what so ever with the dogs, the neighbours were having a party which had finished by the time we got home at about 3:30.. surprisingly its been very peaceful here for new years which is a shock consiudering most nights we have people dragging up and down the rd. Happy New Year Everyone lets hope everyone stayed safe

Started paying for my enteries today for Den we have like 5 events entered and paid :D and little Miss has her first round of comps booked in (in my head) for ADAA so we can do some NFCs cos I want ot expose her to as much as I can. No weaves yet hoping we can get them trained, its just not been a big focus for me as I am working on instilling more confidence. Den on the other hand is looking so good :D very excited to start running him again! For anyone interested here is the latest progress!

Well we achieved some of those titles last year and achieves a few extra ones along the way so its 2012 lets see how we go! Denver JDM TITLE - 1 Q to go!!! JDO Title - 3 Qs to go ADM Q!!! - we are struggling to make the courses it would be a miracle to make a Q for us continue to have fun, push it to achieve what I know we can but keep it fun attend obedience lessons so we may be able to do trialling eventually.. doubtful lol Dens just TOO happy and nervy and bouncy all at once LOL Ella Become trial ready and enter a trial enjoy agility have fun we are making such progress and I wanna see that continue Me [*]get myself handling better then last year, something has clicked in with me and Den and Im happy with my handling but I would like it to step up a bit more [*] get James trained so he can run Den or even his own dog (Ella) in a comp lmao wishful thinking, I need to gain patience for this [*] STOP BABYING DEN IN THE RING!!! my one downfall I play it safe with him so much and I know he can give me better.. I let him down Well thats it for me! lets see how we go
