Sorry for not updating sooner. My girl had her babies on Sunday - 6 girls and 2 boys. Unfortunately 2 of the girls were stilborn and i wasn't able to revive them and one little wee girl is being bottle-fed but now is putting on weight, so been pretty busy here! Good luck to everyone else expecting babies!! Cavalblaze, your girl looks huge! Bel, i'm so sorry to hear that both of your girls missed - i know how frustrating that is!
-
That's lovely to hear. I've also been buying stuff from them for years and they've always been great!
-
I think if you're happy, why change?
-
lol mumtoshelley. How old is your girl? Goldies often go through a stubborn phase between 6 and 10 months of age where they like to try you!!
-
Congrats PF! I'm sure all will go well got nuthin - keeping everything crossed
-
Awesome. They have so much fun with the cat tunnels. I bought another 2 also!

My old girl used to get carsick. Fortunately she did grow out of it at around 2 years of age. I tried junket, ginger biscuits/ginger tablets - nothing worked. The homeopathic tablets 'Be kalm' helped a little. I have a young boy here who is starting to grow out of it now thank god. I give him 1 Avil 1/2 hour before traveling and that seems to work with him.

Sorry to hear that Fordogs. Sounds like it's time to see the repro specialist to see if there's anything they can do. Did the stud dogs sperm get tested as well?
-
Provided they get exercised daily, Goldens are fine in townhouses. They don't need a lot of room, and most aren't big on barking either which is a bonus in a townhouse situation. They do love to sleep inside with their family though

I keep meaning to check this thread out. We have Goldie pups due on the 12th June. I have 2 pregnant girlies here, however (thankfully) one is going back to her breeder for this litter - couldn't do 2 and they are due a day apart! This will be my first litter in a few years too

They're all different i think! I had a golden baby who only slept at night, but then another that slept 23 hours a day!

My Dog Ate A Pack Of Mars Pods Chocolate
goldielover replied to happie's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Glad to hear they're ok. One of my golden girls was staying at her daddy's place and she got into an large bag of M&M's. We kept a close eye on her but she was fine thankfully. -
Pregnant Bitch Who Is Very Fussy With What She Eats.
goldielover replied to oakeydoak1's topic in Breeders Community
To help put your mind at ease, i had a very similar girl. She was a very small and fussy eater at the best of times and during pregnancy just got worse LOL. I was in a bit of a panic as it was my first litter. The only thing she would eat is chicken necks. Later in the pregnancy i tried all different brands of canned food and she actually ate Optimum - not really my choice for a food but hey, it was better than nothing! She pretty much went through the entire pregnancy on chicken necks and Optimum and went on to produce 7 healthy babies -
LP: Won't hurt giving the junket tablets a go. I give Pirate an Avil 1/2 hour before traveling any distance over a few km! Possibly give a small dog 1/2 I tried Travel calm ginger, ginger biscuits a few years ago, but no luck there Phenergan will probably cause drowsiness but is pretty good for travel sickness

How Do 2 Golden Retrievers Get Along With Each Other?
goldielover replied to goldee's topic in General Dog Discussion
You are absolutely right Poodlefan. Whilst generally most people i know have had very few issues with their goldies, there are the exceptions. What i find frustrating as a breeder is that people just assume they are the perfect family dog, buy one, then 6 months later have a 20 odd kg uncontrollable monster on their hands. They need a helluva lot of work put into their upbringing/socialisation/training particularly in the first year. I rarely will even consider selling a puppy to a family with young children unless i am totally confident that the family can deal with a young golden plus kids. Even as adults, not every golden is 'low maintenance'. I get a lot of comments out and about as to how well behaved my older girl is - it took me 3 years to get her there LOL. She was a total nutjob as a pup/young dog! I had another who's needs i could just not fulfil - a very intense golden who i had to rehome. Now, at 6 it sounds like she has finally slowed down a little Mind you, i have to admit that i've been fooled once myself. I was walking my entire boy on lead and a goldie was on the street playing with his family. I was a little wary but generally i trust that people who have aggressive dogs would not let them off lead! He charged at my boy and i was a bit shocked and had a few choice words to say to the owners, but also partly my fault as i just made that assumption that he was friendly. -
LOL i can understand your surprise! Only 1 of my goldies (also a female) has ever shown any ínterest in hunting and killing anything. She would stalk the birds and unfortunately did manage to get a few (and deliver them to me gasping for breath!). The others barely bother even half-heartedly chasing them (or anything else)

How Do 2 Golden Retrievers Get Along With Each Other?
goldielover replied to goldee's topic in General Dog Discussion
goldee, there are exceptions of course, but generally 2 goldies (whether it be 2 females or a male and a female) get along fabulously. I have had a minimum of 2 girls for the last 9 years and have never had an issue, even when i have 2 or 3 in season at the same time. They all get individual time with me though, and i take each new puppy to socialisation classes, followed by basic obedience by themselves so they learn that i am the boss! I have puppy people that have pups that i bred that are related - no issues!
